Watched News At Ten last night, first time in ages. Far too dragged out. Although I like the conversational style though.

I think it would better to talk to guests though and not their own reporters.

Indeed he was brilliant in Extras. That was the most bizarre piece of tv I have seen in ages. You couldn't have scripted it!

Oh come on, even fans of Bowie said it was hilarious. And Bowie a he had a great sense of humour would have loved it. I had tears streaming down my face. It was like something out of a OFAH or Frank Spencer sketch

Me too, funniest thing I've seen in a long time!

These figures is what makes Bradby''s claims look ridiculous, should BBC onews not show any news at 6pm either, as it's 1.5m ahead? Having said that, I TV regional and 6.30 seems to coexist with the BBC much better than 10, so it's pretty clear viewers are actively avoiding it probably due to various reasons (News at When being the primary one, consistency is key here)

BBC Two is reviving Robot Wars for a 6 episode series.

Consider me excited!

Neither EE nor any other soap is going to be consistently brilliant 52 weeks of the year. The volume of material they generate inevitably means there will be peaks and troughs, so it takes something to go seriously wrong (a la Kathleen Hutchison) for an intervention to be staged.

But surely DTC would want to move on soon, anyway, wouldn't he? Hasn't he been there for a long time? It certainly seems like it. Who would take over?

Must be all those Robot Wars repeats on Challenge but according to the BBC Media Centre BBC2 are making a new series of Robot Wars, exciting heh, remember it rated well until they started playing silly beggars with the scheduling.

Brilliant show - simple format done well. Let's hope they don't mess around with it too much. It's one of those rare shows that our whole family loved watching. I can imagine it being exactly the same even now. Just needs to be put on at the right time. Craig Charles could host again, but I'm betting they look for a 'new fresh face' but I'll be really cross if Jonathan Pearce doesn't commentate - he made the show for me.

I'm so happy for EastEnders. It's on fire at the minute. It hasn't fallen below 7 million this year (not counting out of slot episodes)

The ratings could rise even more once this 'artic blast' really gets going.

Robot Wars is a blast from the past. It was a great show, loved it from episode 1 when Jeremy Clarkson was the original host. Back when the weeknight 6pm hour was unmissable on BBC2.

Could probably be an 8pm show now.

Got to say I'm excited. The only things I have ever watched on the channel is Top Gear, Buffy and Robot Wars.

Robot Wars rebooted for BBC Two

Mentorn Scotland, part of the Tinopolis Group, has been commissioned by BBC Two to produce a new series of the man and machine battle series Robot Wars, it was announced today.
The iconic entertainment show will return as a 6x60’ series and will feature a new structure with more robots, more battles and more science than ever before.

The new series includes a raft of technological advances since the show first aired over a decade ago, and viewers can expect to see more innovative fighting machines as teams of amateur roboteers battle it out to win the coveted Robot Wars title.

The show will be recorded in a new purpose-built fighting arena in Glasgow, allowing viewers to get even closer to the action, with state-of-the-art cameras capable of capturing every crushing, sawing and scorching moment in incredible detail.

The new series of has been commissioned by channel controller Kim Shillinglaw, Acting Controller of Entertainment, Alan Tyler, and Jo Street, BBC Commissioning Editor. Produced by Mentorn Media Scotland in association with SJP Media, it will be executive produced by Creative Director of Entertainment at Tinopolis, Chris Brogden, Andrew Robertson of Mentorn Scotland and Jo Street for the BBC.

Kim Shillinglaw, Controller of BBC Two and BBC Four, says: “Robot Wars is an absolute TV classic and I'm thrilled to be updating it for the next generation of viewers. With new technological advances making for an even more exciting and immersive experience, this is a fantastic example of the kind of content-rich factual entertainment that BBC Two excels at.”

Chris Brogden, Creative Director of Entertainment at Tinopolis, says: “Bringing back Robot Wars to our screens is hugely exciting. Its return will see new and improved robots, with extraordinary innovation and power in these updated machines – it promises to be quite the competition.”

Alan Tyler, BBC Acting Controller of Entertainment Commissioning, says: “The redeveloped Robot Wars proved compelling, offering a mix of real people, real passion and raw power. It is remarkable to see how much more powerful these robots have become since the series last aired, with battles now staged in an arena that is literally bullet proof. And yet, the show is still fundamentally driven by the eccentricity of the brilliant brains behind the machines. We are excited to bring this clever new incarnation not only to an audience who loved the original but also to those who may be discovering it for the first time."”

I was thinking colder weather could boost ratings this week.

I haven't seen Philippa Forrester on anything for years. Is she still doing telly?

According to Broadcast it began with 1.4m (7.4%) and ended with 870k (6.9%) which may not bode well for next week.

Slot average is 866k (5.6%).

The first episode (double length) had 2.51m, and the second episode on 5th October had 2.26m. It then dropped out of C4's Top 30 :
12th October : below 1.93m
19th October : below 1.94m
26th October : below 1.9m
