I wonder if the lack of a new set is down to ITV not being willing to stump up the cash for one? If you look closely there have been a number of subtle cost cutting measures this year. All auditions held in London and Manchester rather than travelling all over the country, fewer of the more expensive live shows, live judges houses plans scrapped after the low opening audience for the series, 6 hours squeezed out of the 6 Chair Challenge compared to only 3 last year (despite the same number of filming days). There was a rumour Cowell & Cole both took pay cuts as well. Does make you wonder if ITV have tightened their belts a bit on the show this year.

There was an article in The Sun written by Dan Wootton who is regarded by many as a mouthpiece for Cowell that stated that Cowell was looking to freshen up the show and bring in Olly Murs and Caroline Flack but not to join the panel but to replace Dermot. Few weeks later Dermot announced he was leaving.

Probably not until early next year. Both sides will probably want to see the early ratings of next year's run before making their final bids. I do think it'll stay with the BBC.
The danger of just saying that The Voice could replace X Factor is that it only airs for around half the number of hours of X Factor, and based on how the live shows normally do if they tried to extend it they'd probably end up with numbers no better than X Factor got last night by November. Then again, it doesn't seem to be on the same downward trajectory as X Factor so you never know. I doubt they'll get it though.

If it moves to ITV, I wonder if it'll be kept quiet until series five ends. Would be very awkward otherwise.

I imagine it would be yeah. If they were to get it I wonder if they'd air it in Q1 or Q4? It'd probably be more useful for them in Q4 to be honest but that would mean a long gap between series.
As for next year, X Factor would probably be better all on one night, but it would leave their Saturday schedule really empty. A tough call.

Viewers really don't like change. I thought it was interesting that he basically thanked ITV for putting up with all their crap on last night's show. I wonder what they actually think of all the changes. I guess they must have approved them, but it might have been worth stepping in at some point.
So, In general, what do people think the main reason for the drop is?
Halloween? Grimmy and the poor panel? The SCC events? The Judges Houses new format or Mason Noise being put in after he was thrown off?
People on here know that I watched the 2nd SCC live, but since then, I have only watched a few clips online from JH and last night (Im assuming a lot of people are watching clips online, the show live is just too draining IMO) I did give SCC a very hard time, but it seems that the figures were rising despite the very negative social media reaction to the SCC.
But I think last weekend was the event that really put people off. Judges Houses should be exactly what it says. I don't know why they did it in the way it happened. Basically JH was just another instalment of SCC of people shouting in the audience. We saw like a tenth of singing, and the other nine-tenths were filled up with stories, people walking in slow motion, tears, audience cheering/booing and shouting, adverts, interviews with the judges and 10x too much time for decision making. "You have 10 seconds to name your final choice".
And the Mason choice was not surprising but may have been another reason for the drop. That wasn't received very well online either.

GOD!! That is truly, truly awful for The X Factor. The wheels have come off and its entering into Dancing on Ice territory now. I mean 5.6m is one of their worst ratings ever!
Last week they screwed up big style with those terrible live judges houses episodes. What will it do tonight? 6.5m? Even that seems like a stretch now. I think the main problem is that they try and change it every year and mess it up every time. Losing Dermot and Louis was a mistake IMO. Nick/Rita have added nothing and Olly/Caroline haven't worked either.
As for Strictly - another great rating but I didn't really like last nights episode that much. Definitely worst of the series. I'm sure it will be back to normal next week and Blackpool Week will no doubt be another huge success.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens. In various ways, it's awkward for the BBC to keep, awkward to lose, and awkward for ITV to take.

I think the main danger of The Voice is that it won't rate as highly on ITV as it does on the Beeb. And I'm pretty sure that that would be the case. Plus it hasn't got huge figures to start with.

I've just watched the show and the standard was reasonably high. No worse than usual. The show regained its positive vibe and Olly and Caroline did well. Almost like last week's shambles never happened.

The Voice future is a hard one to call. Like you and others have said, there is no guarantee it will work on ITV -and possibly having two big formats becoming fun poking targets is hardly healthy. This is what ITV presumably are having to weigh up -and if they want it they will have to convince the makers they can take care of it.
The BBC though clearly have had a word already about carrying on for two extra years and have said there is no more room to increase the offer. That would seem to be the end of negotiation as far as they are concerned. None of this appears to have been a formal bidding process so I guess there is no definite decision point.
The Mirror will probably have a front page splash saying that its gone to Dave.
