it was really funny again last night . So good to see them slipping in some risqué comments (something lacking from the other series).

given some of ITV's horrific numbers think its safe to say this wont be the last we see of them

I thought it might have been made as replacement for The Voice

Would those without iPlayer on their TV rather wait for a linear broadcast?

Is EE uploaded to iPlayer soon after transmission?

Incidentally, the most recent TV Player Report gives EE's highest iPlayer rating as 182k. Much lower than the BBC Three repeat.”

According to the latest report - the highest all platforms episode of Eastenders was 426,912

Maybe you only looked at a list for one particular device - i.e. Android, IOS or Website

5m for a comedy these days is fantastic really pleased to see the birds still pulling in the viewers, haven't watched this series yet as I'm away but think the first 2 ITV series haven't been as good as the past so glad to hear some great reviews on here

Looks like this time something they've poached from the BBC has worked. Still an exBBC show, though.

If they did, it would really highlight how dysfunctional ITV's management is, and how the commissioning execs are struggling to come up with anything new that will capture viewers' imaginations.

Besides being a colossal waste of money …

DIP's loss was not Jericho's gain and it's hard to see how it's going to recover - audiences aren't taking to it.

I expect they'll be quite pleased with the ratings.”

This time last year, with year on year declines, I'm sure some here were suggesting that BOAF had run its course and should be axed. What a difference a year makes.

Stand corrected, thanks. Similar figures to BBC Three repeat then? We'll need iPlayer overnights now to see who will benefit from EE's repeat going pay.

Tbf, a lot of it was to do with weaker episodes. The 1st ep of Birds series 2 was relatively poor and so I think many were disspointed. But it picked up as the series went along.

This series has started off with a good pair of eps, so hopefully the writing doesn't nose dive.

It looks roughly the same, except when there is a clash episode and the repeat showing goes up. I don't know what the viewing numbers are for Watch and whether it could attract similar numbers to BBC Three.

I think that the chance to catch recent Eastenders on a pay channel is a strange move, especially so close to the original transmission. Could we see other major BBC programmes having a close repeat run on 'W' ?

Birds of a Feather is benefiting from more involvement of Marks and Gran, who before were busy on their stage musicals I think I read.

Maybe we will yet see Goodnight, Sweetheart return on the BBC.

Speaking of classic shows, I think ITV should be looking to create a new comedy/drama in the form of The Darling Buds of May. This type of drama would be perect for Winter Sunday in the 8pm hour.

cant argue with that, people are the single most strange creature ever to walk this earth, there is nothing that has evolved that could match us for our wacky ideas, and thinking.

I dont know about how long it takes to be uploaded to iPlayer, ive never had reason to look. As for iPlayer rights, well there is still a BBC 3 repeat, so in theory that will go up when the BBC 3 repeat ends. The fact is also on W will mean it goes up less, due to the fact its Pay TV, but I would still expect an increase.

I guess this means that Star Trek rights now sit with Channel 5, they have been doing the rounds lately, good movies (expect the first) but over played recently.

No fades, but that won't bother UKTV. They sometimes crash into ad breaks mid-sentence on Last of the Summer Wine repeats.

I assume they don't have the rights to Star Trek Into Darkness although TBH if they do have the rights I'd hold that back until the release of Star Trek Beyond to get more viewers.

Any news on The X-Files or any US dramas?

Another strong from EE, and it seems like it's kicking off another big storyline - 2016 seems to be making up for a damp 2015.

I'm not sure a remake would work. They'd probably be better off repeating the original series in place of Beowolf @ 7 on Sundays though, likely perform better.

A more interesting idea IMO, if they must look to classic shows for inspiration, would be to go further back into their history and do a remake of "The Professionals" but still set back in the 1970s and given a "Life on Mars" type "non-PC" vibe.....Now, I could see that doing well if handled correctly.

I think it was this time last year.

I do hope shocks and superb writing begin with Corrie under Kate Oates. For years, well since Blackburn took over these type of surrpises have been missing. Now its just predictable trash.

I'm not suggesting a remake of The Darling Buds of May, but a drama in the form - that kind of warm family friendly, countryside set drama. A drama set on a farm in the Cotswalds.

Since they shut the Yorkshire TV drama dept, they have not been able to produce this type of drama,I know they decided they didnt want this type of programme 10 years ago,but think times have changed in many ways.

I'd imagine EE are in for a strong set of ratings when they kill off Peggy, it's the kind of thing old/casual viewers will tune into, hopefully it's done well.
