The Mirrors about turn on TVUK did cause a bit of mirth on this site. I have about as much idea as the press to be honest.

Like others have said, there's no guarantee it would do as well on ITV. It would have the same producers so probably wouldn't change much, but would the audience follow it?
I guess ITV's ideal scenario would be to get it and play it in the Autumn. Then they'd have an X Factor replacement (next year's XF could then be promoted as the last one and might get a small boost). They'd also have robbed BBC1 of its big Saturday Q1 hit, so they could stick with Takeaway there (getting an easier run) and they'd probably be able to get decent ratings against only average competition in January as opposed to the struggles they've had there recently. It would kill a lot of birds with one stone, but it all seems a bit of a stretch to say the least and would leave a bit of a bad taste in the mouth that they'd have to nick a show from BBC1 to replace X Factor. Still, business is business I suppose.

I believe it's been a mixture of everything. Cowell seems to be completely out of touch with audiences now. His obsession with Cheryl is bizarre - she's no longer the 'Nation's Princess' and same goes for Grimmy, who just isn't liked by the general public.
Getting rid of Louis didn't help. A total fool no doubt, but he understood the show for the nonsense it was and really played with that. Same goes for Dermot. I'll never understand why they thought hiring an ex-runner up of the show to present would be a good idea. And Caroline is as flat as anything. There's nobody on the show now that you'd like to spend time with - Sharon, Louis, Nicole, all bonkers but you liked to watch them. This lot are so far up their own arses it's unbelievable.
I wonder if TXF will go to Channel 5 in 2017 as they seem to like taking failing shows from other stations

Would not be much of a replacement though would it. TVUK lives rate worse than XF the show its supposed to replace. Something seems a bit daft there.

The Mirror pulled the story after the first edition when it was pointed out to them it was wrong. But don't lose hope, the Mirror recently praised the BBC for making Downton Abbey so all is not lost.

The issue is it did and it appears as though the audience are not very quick to forgive and forget as far as The X Factor is concerned now. It would have probably been around about 500k-1m higher without the Halloween affect but that's hardly raising it to an acceptable figure considering it was getting over 7m viewers for the early Saturday shows/Sunday marathons.

Yes, I'm rather confused - do ITV not now own Talpa, the rights holders of The Voice worldwide, outright? Or am I misunderstanding? As far as I was aware, Wall to Wall produce it in the UK but that's where their claim to it ends. So why won't ITV simply take it for themselves as surely their overall strategy would pay more dividends than whatever the BBC could pay them for it?
