Dire for X Factor. Deserved after last week's shambles. Not caught up on the show yet and to be honest don't know if I can be bothered. Once upon a time I would have welcomed long editions of the show to keep me entertained, now they're just a chore. Quote:
Cold Feet return confirmed by Fay Ripley. New series for 2016.
Let's hope this return is not a complete waste of time. Next year's schedule for Autumn 6.30pm The X Factor 8pm Cold Feet 9pm Victoria |

Yes, I'm rather confused - do ITV not now own Talpa, the rights holders of The Voice worldwide, outright? Or am I misunderstanding? As far as I was aware, Wall to Wall produce it in the UK but that's where their claim to it ends. So why won't ITV simply take it for themselves as surely their overall strategy would pay more dividends than whatever the BBC could pay them for it?

2015 TVUK live shows' overnights
21/03 - 7.04m (32.8%) 28/03 - 6.30m (30.2%) 04/04 - 6.31m (31.6%) 2015 TXF live shows' overnights 31/10 - 5.63m (28.6%) inc +1 The X Factor this year had seven audition episodes, two boot camp shows, three Six Chair Challenge episodes and will have fourteen lives (seven performance, seven results), making 26 episodes overall - though last year there were 32. The Voice UK in the winter had seven blind auditions, two battle rounds, two knockout rounds and three live shows, making 14 shows in total. So they need to at least double The Voice UK episode count to make it work. The Voice US, season eight, had a 28 episode last season though this contained two recap shows and only four audition shows. I'm sure ITV will happily rectify that. However this season did also contain 15 live shows (8 performances, 7 results). Considering The Voice's decline over here at the live show stage would ITV take that risk? |

![]() However given ITV's apparently Whittingdaleesque submission to the charter renewal process you wouldn't believe in a million years that the BBC will end up with it. This whole ongoing episode is bizarre to me. EDIT:Fudd/S Williams make very good points as ever-but it serves to make the decision even more awkward and curious imo. |

How many 3m50s ad breaks top 5m with live viewing in a typical week on commercial TV and how many of those skew young?
XFactor will still be on ITV next year. |

They tried that in the past (they changed very little in 2012 despite falling ratings in 2011 and they lost 20% of the audience).

There is apparently some issue that Talpa prefer the BBC to have the contract and Im sure I read that its been left to them to actually make the final choice even though ITV actually bought them. I think

How "mutual" is the dislike though? Does Simon sit at home weekly and read through all his articles and then weekly comment on them if they're rubbish or have flopped?

Brookstein is being butthurt, and has been for the last 11 years, everything he says is spun so won't faze Simon one bit.

That's a pretty big claim considering some of the stuff Brookstein has accused Cowell of. I'm sure Simon would be delighted to see all the evidence you have to back up the claim Steve is exaggerating events, might persuade our Si to stop mysteriously shying away from persuing legal action.

The young think it is for old people now.
You can hear from his show, Nick Grimshow wants to be a You Tuber, and often interviews You Tubers on it. Rita Ora is also a questionable judge, looking at her career, she has only ever put out 1 album, I dont really see her as a music inside like Louis, or even a Gary Barlow. |

Demos in early weeks showed that X Factor had maintained its young skew; it would be interesting to see what the figures were like for last night.

Click, in 2009 most people at work would enthusiastically talk about it and I was watching it near the end to see what was happening and contributed to the ratings monster for the final. Since 2010 XF talk has declined iatwork, since 2012 the talk has been more of the programme has had its day and only a handful of people still watch it. A decline of 50 per cent in five years obviously has an effect on what people talk about, although I could say DW, which has seen a fair sized decline, doesn't have the same enthusiasm it had in the Tennant era, when plenty of casual fans were watching.
Also soaps seem to be mentioned far less often as well, with only a few brief Corrie chats from a few women at work and hardly any mention of EE, which proves this has fallen from grace in the last ten years. As for sports, football appeals to about half of the men in the office and two women, the RUWC seemed to fizzle out of conversations once England went out, and F1 stopped being mentioned once Hamilton won the title.

Under 4 million for Dr Who overnights.
Is that a record low in overnight figures for Dr Who...or has it been lower? |

It'd be interesting to see the skew for last week's Sunday show, as well, to see where the audience was lost from the previous week. Is it a balanced loss across the board or did they lose more of one demo than another?

Think I'm right in saying episodes 2 and 3 were lower, both against big England rugby WC games. Episode 2's 28 day consolidated figure ended up as 6.1m and don't think we've had the final figure for episode 3 yet? If that's wrong, sure someone will correct me!

Double eviction on X Factor tonight was announced so probably wont affect ratings but Sundays usually rate a bit higher so tonight should be about 6 million

First time half-watching X Factor this year, did the presenters really say "I love that new One Direction song" after the group performance? Dear. Oh. Dear. Amazing it even has 5m viewers left!

To be honest I think The Voice's arrival has helped drag The X Factor down, just as it has helped to finish off American Idol in the United States. I think both of the latter would have seen a natural decline due to old age but it would have been more gradual had it not been for the new boy on the block. I think ITV realised this, hence they hastily stopped Rising Star in it's tracks - another singing show on top of the rest could have finished The X Factor off completely... not that's it far away from that as it is.
