Generally, though they're inconsistent with Friday/weekend ratings and had a break over Christmas.

Pretty averg for the NTA. Dermot really did seem off last night, so perhaps time to find a new host? Is he getting bored of it?

Poor for 10,000BC. 620k isn't going to give it much room to fall is it. Beut then again you never know it could rise tonight?

I think viewers are less forgiving on returning shows on commercial channels than they are with the BBC. I think there is just fondess for the BBC that there isn't for ITV, Ch4 and Ch5. Therefore they are less willing to to give a show a second chance.

Corrie down amost 2m YOY in that 7pm slot. The only reason I think they put Corrie there is because it has the best chance of winning the soap award if they run a big storyline. I hope later this year and next year Lygo stops these stupid replacements and clashes of soaps and treats them with a bit of respect

To be fair to Corrie it was Hayley's death last year which got a casual audience boost. That was phenomenal television for me, the last time Corrie has been truly sensational. Some criticise the suicide "right to die" element but I truly think it was stunning, emotional gut punch TV and impeccably written and performed to boot.

I know it was a sort of big episode the other day (still haven't seen yet, got a queue of episodes I'm behind on) but it certainly doesn't feel like they did anything at all to try and get the award this year. Those events could have happened any time. Last year's timing... perhaps more suspect.

Just a random thought. Whatever happened to series 4 of Last Tango in Halifax? I believe it's ready to go, but Anne Reid has said that series 4 will be "enough" as she hates shows that just go on and on for the sake of it. Does anyone think we'll have to wait until the Autumn now?

And talking of Sally Wainwright dramas, what has happened to this?

That was the year before James.

Last year was the mini bus crash episodes.

And with regards to the Corrie number we do have. 6.8m includes +1 and was the full-slot average. The rating last night needed tape-checking. I suspect, tape-checked and exc +1 it was probably around 7m.

Apparently filming was delayed because sally wainwright was busy with the second series of Happy Valley which allowed Nicola Walker to do those dramas last year so hopefully they will film in the summer ready for a late autumn tx

Hayley's death was in January 2014. The only time Corrie was any good. The last two years have been crud.

Shetland moves to BBC2 in Wales tonight which should affect its overall rating, displaced by a local programme on BBC1.

Some interesting demographic bits in Broadcast's article on consolidated ratings in the week of 28 Dec - 3 Jan:

Beowulf
Total: 3.4m/14%
1.6m/15% men vs 1.57/13% women. In comparison Jekyll & Hyde's launch had 1.8m/19% men and 2.3m/20% women (total audience was 4.3m/19%).

Endeavour
Total: 6.4m/21%
3.7m/24% ABC1 adults, up on the last series average of 3.6m/28% despite the total audience being down.

Sherlock
Total: 11.6m/40%
7.6m/51% ABC1 adults and 2.7m/48% 16-34s.

----

Quite rare for an ITV show to skew male (even if only slightly). Beowulf is still a disaster though. Big ABC1 skews for Endeavour and Sherlock. ITV will be pleased to see Endeavour rise in that demo despite the total audience dipping slightly.

Someone at the BBC really hates this show don't they? Wonder why, it rates well enough.

The Nations have the autonomy to opt-out of virtually any programme apart from the news and they are putting a local programme in its place in peak viewing time, something you never see on ITV these days.

Indeed, you never see it on ITV these days, thankfully. It's quite irritating when it happens really.

So is Endeavour quite a lucrative drama for ITV since it skews heavily ABC1? And the fact these dramas rpt well on ITV3 must make them even more attractive.

Nicola Walker has also been on Broadway in A View From The Bridge.

Interesting that Wainwright was happy to let others take over on Scott & Bailey but not on either Last Tango or Happy Valley.

I seem to remember Northern Ireland regularly opted out of New Tricks and BBC Scotland move EE when they are covering football, on occasions they have dropped TOS completely. I suppose it's a no-win situation for them.

Amazing rating for a drama which seems to be pretty weak in the storytelling area, but survives on its pleseant setting.

Good for Birds, down a little bit on last week. I do love that programme, harmless fun. Probably be 4.4m exc +1.

Last night's ratings: Celebrity Big Brother increased significantly to 2.35m (10.6%) excluding +1, the most watched episode since launch night.

Last night's ratings: C5's 10,000 BC recovered somewhat from a bad start to score 0.66m (4.2%) excluding +1.

But it found itself some way behind Channel 4's Date My Mum (0.87m/5.8% exc. +1).

Great rating for CBB - despite the waste of space in the house. Good rating for Birds though had hoped it would rise over 5m. Nevertheless it is up from 3.18m inc+1 last year.
