Olly Murs and the other one are terrible presenters for this. Dermot had that authority, he was a real and serious presenter. I am by no means an x factor fan, I only watch it when im at my mums house and she's got it on. Just think they are both incredibly lightweight for this, surely there are better options?
Olly and Caroline are fine imo. They will only get better as they become more comfortable doing the live shows. They aren't the reason why it's losing viewers.

I find Olly and Caroline much more likeable than Dermot, even if he was a slightly slicker and more experienced presenter.

Suppose TXF is cancelled next series in the same way DOI met its maker in 2014. No one would really care, except for a few hysterical posters on TXF forum, and people would move on. It's only a talent contest that has had its day in the same way Hughie Green tried to save Op Knocks in 1978 and his petition was largely ignored.
Yet nine years after the Hughiethon was cancelled ,BBC1 revived it with 16 million viewers and as it had Bob Monkhouse in charge it lasted another 4 years. Perhaps a hint for the future as TXF could come back with someone like David Walliams in charge.

So? At the end of the day Syco is a business that needs sales to survive, at least it doesn't claim billions in taxpayer money!
I'm guessing you must work at Syco cos this is just beyond ridiculous. Poor little Simon...where will he get his next meal from eh?

That applies to literally ever TV show ever. Just like if Doctor Who was cancelled, it would ruin the lives of fanboys here and on Twitter but the other 64.5 million people would move on.
So I don't really see your point.

Dan R is to Syco what Samuel was to the BBC. Only Samuel had some very good points.

If you were in his position you'd do the exact same thing. Just a bit of business, nothing to get worked up over

So what if Olly said he liked the new 1D song. And he didn't say that. He said singer or artist. Shambles is a touch over dramatic.
He did get the name of the artist that got sent home wrong. Alien Nation he called them.

Must be the right choice if they are that forgettable that the boss doesn't even know what they're called.

Having said that, Cowell seemed a bit distant all night. I don't think he's taking recent ratings well.

From Hassan - 5.39m (27.4%) for X Factor excluding +1.
That's appalling.

It will be COMFORTABLY above 6m.
That's nothing to boast about.

You'd have to have a heart of stone not to laugh...

Well he's had some personal issues this series of course. I don't think his heart's been in the game since become a daddy though, and after X Factor USA - he's just not really fussed anymore. Cheryl will have to take over as she keeps saying how involved he has her now

Never said it was, just bringing some realism back into predictions.

Caroline's good, even if she does shout.

Olly's poor, fumbled over his lines a bit.

The last ever regular-length episode of Downton is over Should be in for a big rating on Christmas Day if next week's season finale is as fabulous as it looks.
I'm guessing you must work at Syco cos this is just beyond ridiculous. Poor little Simon...where will he get his next meal from eh?
I've never known anyone quite so desperate to stick up for the smug old Tory cheerleader. And I was on here during the years of George S! A quite remarkable performance.

Despite the fact that "nobody" watches The X Factor anymore, and everyone here wants it to be axed, it seems you are all still watching it.

More comments about a quip made by Olly Murs than the Bake Off Final in this thread!

Really ? It wasn't shown in the London area. What were they advertising ?
Radio One.Presumably trying to boost Grimshaws show.

Just to check but are there any other tv shows on tonight other than XF?

What was Jekyll like or did no one watch it?

I think the opposite, Olly has just enough charm to pull it off, Caroline looks out of her depth, strange to go with these two though as they're not really experienced enough at live tv- Both Kate Thornton and Dermot were far better but they were established when they were hired

Doesn't that apply to every show on TV? If Bake Off was axed I expect people would get on with their lives and if I'm a Celeb had a poor series, Ant and Dec might leave, and that could be axed as well.

I can't see the point of having two presenters. They are both likeable people but nowhere near as slick as Dermot.
I can see why Simon did it in trying to recreate their Xtra show but that's so different than this gig.
Hardly anyone watches that show and you can get away with much more.
But, as mentioned, they aren't the reason for dwindling figures.

Isn't it generally accepted Grimmy was hired because XF would benefit from being promoted a lot on his radio show? A laugh, then, that it's now gone the other way.

Or maybe Radio 1 accepted an X Factor ad-slot as compensation for the shows Grimmy missed to film XF.

Samuel is on Twitter if anyone wants to follow him, Also he is not ADP either:

Back to ratings hope BBC1 does well with that nature programme.

I don't recall Dermot getting much positive comment when he was hosting, shows how good he is.

And I definitely don't recall Kate Thornton receiving much positive comment.

What, trying to get people to tune into Radio One ?
I can't believe they are even allowed to do that. Commercial radio would go mad if they saw that going on.
