I think it might, The Voice was terrible again tonight and may shed some more viewers- I'm starting to wonder if it's just singing show fatigue or a deliberate attempt to torpedo the brand before I TV take over
would the production company (owned by ITV) allow that to happen?

Whilst the company that owns it wouldn't do it deliberately as owned by ITV, I do agree, it was way off the boil tonight. I liked the first singer but they didn't turn. Maybe there isn't enough talent around.

I don't know, but tonight's show was abysmal, terrible quality of singer, Ricky Wilson looking severely fed up with the whole thing and the I've no idea what the editing team have taken but it's just not the same- I loved the show in previous years but I'm giving up and coming back at the battles to see if it's improved because the Blind Auditions I think are a lost cause

Well if the BBC final series is so poor, its going to look excellent on ITV then. I imagine there is likely to be interest in what its like on ITV I would have thought, so the opning ep should be 7m+.

Really can't see production trying to sabotage this just because its moving to ITV, why would the BBC damage their own January share and producer a big trailer for this if this is the case?

maybe the problem is that its being made by ITV for the BBC.

Its quite amazing isn't it. Last year TVUK was firing on all cylinders, rising each week, now this year its likely to drop every week and going by your comments above, post some horrible ratings for the Battle Rounds and Live shows.

Whereas ITV are rising each week. You couldn't make it up.

I know they wouldn't, but it's such a drastic drop in quality it's jarring- I do think the ITV series will at least have some curiosity and hopefully they get some big names that work as coaches but I'm genuinely quite upset at how bad this series is (it sounds sad I know) as I really enjoyed it up until this year

*and rant over* Sorry guys, derailing the thread a bit

It's alright because it's true, (most of) what you're saying. The Voice is awful.

There is nothing wrong with feeling passionate about TV shows, else why would people make them and love their job?

I don't know why its going so off the boil, it can't be because ITV has bought the makers of the show. Its unlikely to change how they make it?

Good figure for EE considering it was Friday
Shetland was on BBC2 in Wales
I was going to say this, and a well deserved good figure for a superb episode.

That's good. I think a lot of people would love to see them carry on with Celeb and Talent. I'm not sure there's the same clamour for Takeaway these days, though, so maybe there's an opportunity for something new there.
That's a very good point. I think things like Vera and Endeavour would be more use to ITV on spring and summer Sundays, rather than in Winter, and having Voice 7 to 9pm on Winter Sundays would save the dramas for later in 2017.

I still don't think Voice will do much for ITV, though!
I think you're probably right that Takeaway doesn't have quite the same clamour. It was getting very tired in 2009 when they rested it. The 2013 revival was a huge success but the gloss has come off a little bit since then, although I think it's still in much better shape than it was in 2009. If they wanted to do something new I'm pretty sure ITV would accommodate it though. I'm fairly sure ITV would have rathered they had spent time in 2015 filming a new entertainment show rather than a one off royal documentary (which probably took nearly as much time, they did a lot of filming) but that was what they did because they wanted to.

Plus ITV are hardly going to turn away an entertainment show doing 6 million overnights even if it is down a bit (although even in its heyday it never did more than 7 or 8 million anyway). But I think Takeaway is still running as much as anything else because Ant & Dec love doing it. They even took it on tour in 2014. I think they love doing all their current shows. Plus neither BGT nor I'm A Celebrity are really much of a time commitment. IAC is only a few weeks of the year (I think they go out to Australia a couple of weeks before the series starts but that's it) whilst BGT is around 12 days of auditions plus a few days of filming intros, trailers and doing voiceovers and one stripped week of live shows. Takeaway is presumably by far the most time consuming of the three so if they didn't like doing it I suspect they'd drop it quite quickly. ITV wouldn't much like it but I suspect they'd put up with it for the sake of keeping them on the other, more valuable shows.

I agree about Vera and Endeavour. They do normally play in the Spring and I imagine they'll be there again next year. I suspect they've been drafted in after how poorly last year's Winter Sundays did with entertainment and then a drama at 9pm. The two hour detective shows were probably their best bet to hold up against Call The Midwife. I suspect if they had The Voice this year that would be running 7pm-9pm (or maybe a 7.30pm start) with Jericho at 9pm (in the slot I suspect it was originally intended for before they got cold feet and went for the 2 hour dramas).

I hadn't considered The Voice for Sundays but it does seem likely. The Saturday schedule works reasonably well as it is and will only do better without The Voice against it. Next year could be The Voice running up to 9pm with a drama on afterwards. Probably a new one as I can't see them running the 2 hour dramas 9pm-11pm.

Can only be the former. There is no chance the BBC would deliberately make it fail.
It was poor tonight in terms of quality singers, something XF has also suffered with.

I didn't realise the executive producer of The Getaway Car was also responsible for Total Wipeout. That explains a lot. It literally is Total Wipeout with cars, down to the way it's edited and put together.

Harmless fun in exactly the same way that Total Wipeout was but no way is it ever going to be the next big thing for Saturday nights.

ITV own Talpa who own the format. The production company who make it for the BBC is Wall to Wall, owned by Warner Brothers.

First time I'd watched any of The Voice tonight as someone was on it who comes from the same town as me, from watching there's a lot of ways they could change the show without going off format.

Regarding the quality, maybe it's always been the same and it just doesn't have the fan boys who used to support it to the hilt anymore. Now it's made by ITV and going to ITV their allegiance is confused. Will I am becomes quite hard work though so I'd like to see an entirely fresh panel next year.

Surely The Voice this year has the same problem as X Factor had last year - namely, the new judges haven't delivered what the producers were hoping for. I don't watch The Voice but Paloma Faith is annoying me just in the trailer.

So ITV can indeed change the judges on The Voice next year, but, as I say, they didn't do that well in that area with X Factor last year.

I still believe that TVUK will drop again in the ratings next year, but still be doing better than anything ITV has in its current Saturday night schedule. Not sure they would want to put it on against Midwife on a Sunday.

RE: BBC sabotaging The Voice,

Remember that the pre-recorded rounds are filmed ridiculously far in advance, the auditions were done back in August/September last year and the producer auditions to pick the acts (which appear to be a big issue) back in June, long before its future was known.
