No - Osman works for Endemol.

I hate to say I told you so (and I'm not the only one) - but J&H's ratings don't surprise me. Scheduled in a slot where audiences (and ITV audiences in particular) aren't used to finding drama, and also playing against BBC One's flagship entertainment show, plus the tonal issues that have given it bad press are, combined, enough to kill it if drastic action isn't taken pronto.

Why on earth wasn't it held over until the New Year?

I would love to be a fly on the wall chez Charlie Higson right now …

Yup, a pre-recorded Strictly results show TROUNCED it by 3 million

(Just fuelling the fire here through petty and awful humour).

Good enough for DA. Hopefully it pushes over 8.5m next week.

Can I use that excuse on my beloved EastEnders????

She was quite shocking. Little Mix were good but lip-singing at various points.

The guest performances used to feel like event TV but now they're mostly to promote the Cowell empire.

The rating is okay but The Hunt was up there with Frozen Planet. If it was on Wednesday like Frozen Planet was it would be getting 5/6m.

What was the The Hunt rating?

And yet again viewers just drift to SCD as if there is no other channel?”

BIB1 - there is a difference between not playing safe and being downright stupid in the way a drama that's notably different to your usual output is scheduled. J&H should have been held over to the New Year and played against TVUK, once the spinning chairs bit is over.

BIB2 - or maybe, shock horror, they actually wanted to watch SCD?

It's saying something when even Cheryl's live vocals are better. It was really bad.

What makes you think the piece of boring crap would do well in any slot worse than Demons was.

Because it's not "a piece of boring crap"?

ITV also need to schedule it better.

Not sure it's really Sunday night viewing, unless they have it on at 9pm (more gory than it currently - regardless of the people moaning last week).

Looks to me like standard Saturday evening fare. Granted that still means going up against Strictly, working on the assumption it would still be on at 7pm, but it will fit the schedule.

ITV would do better to move the spare EE and Corrie episodes back to Sunday and then try and do something with Thursday and Friday nights.

the problem for ITV is that they've been playing it safe for too long. The question is, having been burnt, will they revert to "safe mode" again, or will they continue to defy expectations and try to get audiences to try something different from them - that could take a couple of years and I doubt that they've got the patience.

its very sad for J&H it just means instead of trying new things ITV will just play it safe
that's the problem with "bad press". sometimes it works in favour of the show. You can imagine a lot of parents 100% making sure the kids aren't watching ITV, If you went by the description of the Daily Mail its like Tarantino production

They don't drift to SCD, they choose it. If BBC1 had something else there it wouldn't be as high as Strictly while Jekyll and Hyde would probably still be low.

ITV should have saved Jekyll and Hyde for the new year. It doesn't deserve to be lower than the God awful Atlantis. That's just obscene!

It's been down about a million all series though. Is it really a story any more? I suppose the 6 Chair Challenge looked to be pulling it back, but live judges houses ruined any momentum.

Although last year XF results show (Live1) was 8.79m. Live Saturday was 7.65m.

It's amazing that 6.5mill is seen as a "good recovery" for TXF Who would have thought that 5 years ago, or even last year?

For all the stick he got, this forum is all the poorer without him. He was one of the reasons I joined Dorothy Squires, although Walford Web and UK and Aussie Soaps Forum is my prefered choice for EastEnders discussions.

More worrying for Cowell
Yes #Xfactor was trending but with that
contrived
Manipulated
Bring back Dermot

Just waiting for the tabloid story how show bosses are worried the attack on Talk Talk had affected the show itself

We have this discussion every year at this time since Downton and Enders have clashed, it will be interesting to see what happens this year. If itv use their brains and promote it right, it should do well. Perhaps EastEnders will be split this year and not in a block?
