In the last few years SCD has normally been ahead in consolidated ratings but there are occassions when XF comes out on top usually on Sundays.

I think the BBC will be asked by itv and the Rt Hon John Whittingdale, OBE, Member of Parliament for Maldon and Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport to move the Strictly results show after Songs of Praise, so it does not harm the itv drama Jekyll and Hyde. It's only fair.

If Jekyll was going up against a blank screen it would do no more than 3.5m it seems. There seems to be little interest in new fantasy drama.

Quite why ITV chose to do what they did with it is a mystery, especially considering that they wanted a 3 series run at least. Maybe as has been suggested elsewhere, ITV struggled with the concept, watered it down which left it in a strange zone between genre's.

Production by tick box people never works. Look at BBC Comedy.”

I think you've hit the nail on the head here, Jekyll is a horror story, and a classic one at that- This reinvention was a good idea (and it's not bad) it justvdorsn't really appeal to any market- Too dark for kids, too light for adults- Nor really hitting the family adventure vibe either it's just a misfire- I think glammed and sexed up like I think Higson wanted I could see this working, it has a lot of style, but as it is I see very little in way of a bright spot for them to cling to

773k (9.7%) for BT's coverage of Chelsea v Liverpool on Sunday, reports ITV Media. Underwhelming it has to be said.

More noteworthy was the 370k (2.6%) getting into the Halloween spirit for Most Haunted Live over on Really, surely the channel's most watched programme in the overnights to date. Impressive share as well due to the massive three and a half hour broadcast.

I'm trying to be kind.

X Factor is dipping each year. It can't be saved now. EastEnders can and I want them to try harder.

Don't care that much about Corrie and Emmerdale. I want EastEnders to be as high as it can. They screwed up after Live Week.

I thought "ratings turkey" for both of them, and River, although I thought they might get half decent first episode figures.

It's a shame for it to be going out on a whimper, though.

So even with XF and DA on BBC still win primetime. That cant have happened much in previous years. Looks like ITV was dragged down by Jekyll in the 7 slot.”

BBC news.

Strictly beats X Factor by 4m viewers

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-34699038

Strictly Come Dancing attracted nearly 4m more viewers than X Factor on Saturday, with ITV's show losing 1m viewers since last week.
ITV talent show X Factor averaged an audience of 5.6m for the first live show of the series on Saturday night.
More than 9.4m people saw Kirsty Gallacher perform her last routine - a Halloween-themed one - on BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing.
The two shows overlapped for 15 minutes at 2000 GMT.

Audience figures for Sunday's results show were up, with an average of 6.7m viewers tuning in to watch Bupsi and girlband Alien Uncovered leave X Factor. Sunday's instalment of Strictly, which did not overlap with X Factor, got 9.6m viewers.

You said "everyone thinks it's crap" or somesuch. Clearly and objectively that isn't the case. By all means say you didn't like it, or you and a dozen or more here didn't but to say "everyone" is just untrue isn't it? Do you see? Do you see now how being so "sweeping" is foolish?

That article adds nothing, in fact it is much less, than we already know??

Despite his marmite status, his show was the highest rating British non sport digital show last week. Only TBBT and a football match rated higher.

The Back to the Future day did really well, dominating the digital chart. People got right behind it, so much that the films rated really well again a couple of days later.

You say ITV2 is doing poorly but compared to what. E4 and BBC Three don't do much better, particularly with home grown commissions. When it comes to digital TV and young skewing programmes, most are just happy to watch well worn repeats of a couple of mostly American series.

I thought ITV2's Back To The Future Day was the story in multichannel ratings last week....then I saw the rating for Big Bang Theory on E4! 2.66m, 3.17m including +1!

Too big for E4. Especially when you consider C4's critically acclaimed comedy Catastrophe can't pull together 1m in the overnights.

The Big Bang Theory gets numbers other Channel 4 sitcoms would dream of. It's way ahead of all of the homegrown sitcoms on E4.

This is what happens when you say 1m is a success for sitcom on BBC2 or Channel 4.

I agree. It's had such a good run, it is a pity to bow out on such mediocre numbers. I thought the same about Foyle's War but this has had an even better run. At least they've announced it before the finale to let it have a proper ending. I doubt the numbers will go up much though. I guess Endeavour will keep the franchise going for now.

I assume the knowledge that it was ending influenced the decision to toss it on Tuesdays, launching against the final New Tricks. If they thought it had a future they would probably have protected it a bit more.

On that basis I assume there aren't any current plans to end Doc Martin, as with it being the finale tonight they would probably have announced it by now, so I expect it'll be back.
