Yeah I noticed that as well. Also the judges had proper microphones rather than clip on ones, which I take it is due to the crowd being so loud on the Saturday as they couldnt hear each other when giving advise

Today's Metro paper again lays into XF ratings and says that Caroline and Olly's talking over each other has annoyed those who watched, and social medias reaction is its a mess and they want Dermot back. Bad headlines yet again.

I think one of them could end up backstage interview contestants with the other on stage introducing them

Still padded out massively, though.

For those that don't watch (I do on sufferance only because the OH still likes it): after Saturday's show all we needed from Stan Laurel's twin was his 3 picks from the Boys category.

After the 2nd ad break at almost 8pm (!!!), we still didn't have all three picks.

Really bad weekend for the show and I cannot see them doing it like that again next year, because it didn't work on any level and we should see that reflected in Sunday's ratings as well.

At least they weren't trying to crack funny Brucie style jokes like Claudia Winkleman on Strictly. People moaned when it was Brucie doing them, but only he could. Much missed if you ask me. But I suppose we've got a two women presenting team so mustn't complain

Mail group paper. Best ignored.

Let's hope that J&H does well for ITV. At least they have tried something different from the cops, docs and soaps.

Oh dear thats bad for J&H

Jekyll & Hyde: 3.36m (15.7%)
The X Factor: 6.47m (27.0%)

The live Judges’ Houses experiment didn’t pay off for ITV as The X Factor slumped to a series low of 6.5m (27%).

Ouch. I saw the final 10 minutes and it was horrendous.

From Hassan

Countryfile: 7.04m (33.8%)
Strictly: 8.66m (35.8%)

Jekyll & Hyde: 3.36m (15.7%)
The X Factor: 6.47m (27.0%)
Downton Abbey: 7.64m (34.7%)

Figures include +1 and are tapechecked.

ITV clearly schedule the autumn / winter and sat back letting it take its course as if X Factor was destined to be a roaring success this year. J&H at that hour was ridiculous.

Shocking for XF.

Good for Countryfile and SCD. I still don't get how a recorded results show can get these numbers but hey-ho!

I agree. J&H should have been the centre piece of the night around 8pm.

TXF didn't need to be as long as it was and those figures include +1

Not shocked at the X Factor ratings.Even though a few problems were sorted out last night the Saturday show was a complete shambles. Time for Cowell to start panicking.
Shame for J&H as it was enjoyable but it is in the wrong timeslot and people obviously are just not swarming to ITV in huge numbers.

Ouch all round for ITV which is a shame actually. Looks like my theory about fantasy drama is vindicated - it seems the audience just dont want it in sufficient numbers.

Is that the first time Countryfile has beaten X-Factor in the ratings?

Well below ITV's projected audience, and that's for episode 1 with all the marketing and stuff.

Hugely disappointing that.

Not remotely shocking, but poor nonetheless.

Elsewhere, Homeland fell once again to 0.72m (3.4%). And C5's simulcast of the MTV Europe Music Awards only mustered 0.41m (2.3%).

The live shows didn't work. At the beginning they had a 10 minute recap of what we had already seen the night before followed by an advertisement, 2 boys picked followed by another advertisement. It was too dragged out, I had changed about 3/4 times throughout the night. I expect ITV gave them that overdrawn slot and they tried to fill it. It could have been done in 90 minutes on Saturday and 60 minutes on Sunday and I'm sure the figures would have been much more healthy instead of the overall 235 minutes over the weekend. ITV have only themselves to blame.

Thing is though, it's the sort of show I'd watch but I didn't really see any marketing at all for it until two days ago. So where were they marketing this? Not in the right place, I think.

I haven't watched ANYTHING on ITV for a good 3 years. I suspect J&H is aimed at an audience they don't normally attract so were they advertising it heavily on their own channel? What's the point of that when so many people just wouldn't have seen it?

I kept seeing it on billboards for weeks.

The audience did my head in more than usual this weekend, but I persevered with it because I like XF. Whenever Mason got through I think we all knew it's for publicity and controversy, they don't seem to care about the people who have talent and are nice people. Grimmy shouldn't have done it but he could have been told to do it by the producers or Simon so I won't hold it against him. I still like him and won't join the Grimmy hate-club just yet!

I suggested on here a few weeks ago that J&H should have gone out on Wednesday's @ 8 where the competition is weaker and Coronation St proceeds. It's half-term week so it also wouldn't have been too late for families (could have then been repeated on Sundays @ 6:30 for the family audience if that was a concern)

What's more it could have formed a targeted drama night for ITV with Midwinter of the Spirit following had this also been held back.

Christ alive.

Dismal start for Jekyll & Hyde. I'm not completely surprised but I had hoped for better. Such a shame as it was pretty good as well. I dread to think how low it will go from here. ITV will be gutted. It's all well and good talking about the scheduling but with that low audience I doubt it would have done much anywhere.

Horrendous for The X Factor. Down 1.3m on last week! That's viewers voting with their remotes. I didn't think it'd be that low. This weekend has been a disaster for it after the past few weeks were going well. I don't think it can recover from here either. What a nightmare for the show. The whole weekend was poorly thought out and done at the last minute. You could tell it was a backup plan and last night's show was so dragged, they clearly really struggled to fill the slot.

I wouldn't want to be at ITV today!
