Last comparable Thursday clash was on 1 October (figures exc/inc first repeat):
19:00 - Emmerdale (1 hr): 5.56m (28.9%) / 5.80m (30.2%)
* during clash: 5.31m (26.1%)
exc +1
19:30 - EastEnders: 4.59m (22.5%) / 5.18m
Compared with last night:
19:00 - Emmerdale (1 hr): 5.75m (28.7%) / 5.90m (29.4%)
* during clash: unknown
19:30 - EastEnders: 4.35m (21.0%) / 4.97m
Total TV audience up +0.8m in the 7pm hour and up +0.3m in the 7.30-8pm half-hour compared with 1 October.
So with more viewers around, EastEnders' -1.5-point share drop equated to a -0.24m fall rather than a -0.31m fall, had the total TV audience remained the same. Emmerdale up in viewers despite also being down in share (fractionally on the exc +1 measure).
The +1 fell about 100k, while EastEnders' BBC repeat rose slightly and posted around 600k both nights.
