It will be interesting in January when all TVUK 'flipfloppers' start posting. Those ITV supporters who will be hoping the ratings go up while all the BBC supporters will be hoping it they take a nose dive.
But the bigger question?

Will ITV put something good against the Voice in January 2016? If they do, will they damage the show they will pay £14million a year for?

Just say they put Ant and Dec against it, and people do not like TVUK without Tom and with Boy George and damage it? Then what? They will be in a pickle hurting a show they paid an arm and a leg for.

If true the BBC supporters will be hoping for falling ratings for the next series -
It will be interesting to see the reaction from certain people here.

All those massive fans of the show, who talk it up and support it as the best show on TV every Winter, will mysteriously now go off it and start hating it I expect.

Nuh-uh. Providing Wall to Wall are allowed to keep the same tone and production values when ITV take the show over, and they refuse to let Cowell anywhere near it, it'll still be the best reality programme on British TV by miles. I hope it does great things for ITV because boy do they need it to.

I hope H de V is happy as ITV are actually running proper content at 6:15 and not just You've Been Framed. A full schedule of shows just like has always been asked for.
And so they should - it's bloomin' November!

Did the BBC buy the format from Talpa and then commission Wall to Wall to make it?

Do ITV need to use Wall to Wall?

TV should now see ITV offer something decent in the post Christmas wasteland. After the disasters like SITE in this slot, they will have a show that can guarantee them 8 million viewers. Also getting TV from the BBC could be a coded way of saying we're not playing dead in the first two months of the year and have mortally hit BBC One's post Christmas Saturdays, as Auntie will struggle to find a new hit. I think as well getting TV must be worrying Simon Cowell as ITV have a much cheaper and higher rating singing contest as TXF is now becoming a very costly failure.

I really don't understand why ITV would want The Voice? it's a failed format that hasn't produced one successful artist compared to the massive franchise X Factor which has created worldwide stars.

True, X Factor is a much stronger and more recognisable brand than The Voice despite its falling figures.

We are talking about TV shows, not artistes, which only make money for Cowell, not ITV.

The Voice is a much bigger show across the world ATM, so as a format it's clearly working better.

Personally I hope all the talent shows disappear, but as the Voice is apparently much, much cheaper, so for a commercial station you should surely see that as a perfectly good reason.

BTW, I actually think the success of OneDirection has actually partly been to blame for the declining figures of X-factor, people aren't as invested to see who wins anymore, because they know the non-winners may do even better, Olly Murs too. Before them the biggest success story was Leona who had actually won it.

Great for Cowell as he owns all the acts, but leaves the viewers "meh" about who wins. So there's not the thrills and anticipation anymore.

ITV are buying the format (assuming they are buying it) for the ratings, whether it generates a successful artist or not doesn't really come into it (it certainly hasn't harmed the ratings while its been on the BBC).

And as X-factor is now demonstrating, all the successful acts in the world, won't stop viewers drifting away from a programme if they don't like what they see on their screens

Well, this news is clearly very divisive judging by the many arguments for and against.

Personally I'm sitting on the fence for once. Whilst not a fan of the programme, clearly there are elements of it which work well with audiences (the auditions always rate really well, for example) and whilst it's looked rather limited at times during the live rounds, it probably hasn't achieved its full potential yet.

Maybe ITV feel with the impressive array of onscreen talent they have at their disposal they have they can take it to the next level and really push on with it?

Anyway, it makes sense that they would want it. These are anxious times for ITV with X Factor dropping away faster than they'd feared and they desperately need these big Saturday night hits that can return year-after-year and generate a lot of noise. The Voice isn't going to cure all their problems in this area overnight but it can certainly do a job for them you'd think- its ratings are holding at a fairly high level, and it's likely there's more to come.

Don't really come on this forum that much anymore, but I thought I'd through my opinion into the circus too on what's happened today.

The Voice has done very well for the BBC, despite all the guff people have written about it. The live shows were always the weak part, but the Blind Auditions always rate well, and that's the same in every country it's gone too. Also, the production company who are contracted to make The Voice (Wall to Wall) will lose out big here too.

What is rather concerning about the whole affair is the seemingly increasing monopoly on big entertainment shows. ITV's recent submission to DCMS about the BBC Charter Renewal, saying that the BBC shouldn't buy international formats (mainly entertainment). C4 & C5 are not going to go for them, neither will Sky, so for most International distributors it's ITV or bust, whether the show fits ITV or not. Lack of competition = bad news for British telly.

To those saying that British producers are making big TV shows, and that the BBC should always go with British ideas, the last big show to come out of this country was Dancing On Ice in 2006. Nearly 10 years ago.

I really don't understand why ITV would want The Voice? it's a failed format that hasn't produced one successful artist compared to the massive franchise X Factor which has created worldwide stars.
The notion that these shows have to produce worldwide stars is rubbish. The BBC have no commercial interest in the artists, where as Cowell has to make money from them. Also, The Voice as a format is much more successful than X Factor worldwide; even the Voice Kids is more successful.

Wonder if XF will get any uplift from a lack of any SCD clash tonight.

If the ratings are shit, the show is f**ed as there's not really any excuse this week.

I imagine TVUK will just be another one in the long line of things to go from BBC to ITV and flop.

I never really saw The Voice as a successful long running show.

It was a pretty cool concept at first with the chairs, but it was nothing special after that. Not sure what it offers that X Factor doesn't?

I think The Voice could flop quite heavily if it goes over to ITV.

I'm expecting TXF to be much near 7m tonight with no clash. If it gets a similar rating to last week, then next year really should be the last series.
