I used to always watch X-Factor - though in recent years, it did feel like a case of my falling for the usual pantomime - we knew the viewers were being manipulated, and the hype was very OTT, and winning doesn't always mean that much in the long run - but it was a kind of familiar routine.
I only watched Strictly last year when that Irish woman - the actress from Mrs Browns Boys (which I don't watch) was in it.
This year, I was intrigued by Daniel O'Donnell (I live in Ireland, by the way!) and also like to look at Tristran, because his mother was a few years behind me in school, - I'M OLD! - and a neighbour years ago.
Then because we only see X-F on TV3 now (I don't get ITV anymore), and the rugby world cup was shown on TV3 when X-F was being shown in the UK, I missed lots of X-F, and wasn't that bothered. Tuned into a bit of it last night and it was just so ridiculous, to see Simon Cowell standing up and making his Final 3 announcement live - it's all so hyped up, and I'm fed up of King Simon Who Rules The World etc. I'd prefer to watch Strictly now.
Of course if Louis Walsh was back as a judge on X-F......
