You can't compare weight to the way someone dresses. He chooses to dress like that, but someone can't always help it if they are overweight. Being overweight is accepted now, because it is common, so a majority of people can identify - I doubt many people watching want to go out in high heals and make-up, carrying a ball and chain.

It's a way to stand out without actually being unique, basically. He's got a good voice, but other than the way he dresses, I don't think there is anything particularly unique about him.

You can compare. He may choose to actively dress the way he does, but he can't help wanting to. It's like with homosexuality - a guy chooses to actively sleep with other guys but he doesn't choose to be gay. Just because things are only acceptable when they're common, it doesn't mean that it's right. It was common and acceptable to be actively racist in the US during the 1950s, yet those racist actions are now seen as disgusting. It's just odd how history can't seem to educate some people about how to broaden their views. All it takes is a little bit of empathy.

BIB - Yes, that may be true, or it may just be a career choice. He certainly wouldn't be the first or the last singer to affect an outlandish style/persona in order to get noticed.

I think he's a great singer, and I like the way he presents himself to an extent. I loved that red outfit he wore at judges' houses, for instance. My only thought is that if he toned down the make-up, especially the dark lipstick, just a tad, he would look even more stunning, because he has a naturally beautiful face, and I'd like to see more of it. But it's his choice, obviously. As for bigoted opinions, forget 'em - they'll all die off soon enough.
