Where Darcey's concerned, there's only room for one female and that's her.

Katie was on a hiding to nothing. They are similar age, both elegantly beautiful and now the upstart appears to be able to dance. Darcey was savage last night and I hated it. Poor, poor Katie, She must wonder what she has done.

A not very good Salsa is what. Darcey's been full of praise for most of Katie's other dances, but the criticism was warranted last night (and Darcey wasn't the only judge to give it).

Critiquing is one thing, but she was very unkind and you could have been forgiven for thinking that Katie was the worst dancer ever on the show which patently she is not.

She - along with Len - still gave her a 6, while Craig and Bruno gave a 4 & 5

I don't for a moment agree with the OP regarding motivation but the curious fact is that she found nice things to say about every other crap dance on the show last night except Katie's. Quite possibly nice things about every other bad dance she's ever commented on. Which is why for her that mildly scathing criticism comes over as nastier than the worst of Craig or Bruno's put-downs. And if not that she's secretly the evil jealous Bitch-Queen of Elstree - and I'm sure she isn't - then why?

If Ann Widdecombe danced with John Sergeant, both of them with their legs fused together in a concrete block and each doing a different dance whilst the band is playing music from a third... Darcey might still give it a 6...

Weird because I think the exact opposite. I think they would get on famously and be great friends. I don't see any dislike at all.

Not liking someones dance isn't the same as not liking them as a person.

If Darcey's motive was jealousy and fear at a woman of her age and social standing outshining her as a dancer (which lol anyway because she was a prima ballerina and Katie's some newsreader doing some half decent hoofing on a gameshow let's keep this in perspective), then why go hammer and tongs at her (not that she did) over a bad dance? Makes no sense. Why not undermine her good dances? Why give her a 9 for a Viennese Waltz that even Len, lover of all things ballroom and traditional only gave an 8? Darcey has scored Katie higher than any of the other three judges have overall, this is all specious and ludicrous.

I probably exaggerated by a mark, but we do wonder out loud during the early series whether they even bother to give her paddles 1 to 4!

Darcy was doing her thing 'judging'. Katie was good last week, this week horrendous. May be next week she will be good and Darcey will judge her accordingly.

I can't think why Darcey would be jealous of Katie, she has had a brilliant career as a Prima Ballerina, she has two lovely children an happy marriage and a nice house.

Katie was not entirely to blame for a poor performance . Anton also must take the blame for choreographing such a poor salsa . Darcey should have addressed some of the criticism to Anton . I think Len is the only judge that dares to have a go at the pros .

Maybe latin is never going to be Katie's dance, maybe she would be better with another pro more fluent in latin . We'll never know .

I would imagine that Katie and Darcey would get on well together.

I did find Darcey's criticism of Katie rather relentless last night. It wasn't that she wasn't accurate just that she failed to emphasise positives the way she usually does.
