Reading through everyone's comments and viewing their dance last night I think it may be a combination of Anton's teaching and Katie's actual ability. I can't help thinking that she can offer alot more but if she can't then he should be choreographing routines which mask the flaws or at least concentrate on the areas she can do well rather than exposing what she cannot do.
I've commented before that I really dislike his over exaggeration of Latin. He appears to really 'ham' it up which gives every routine a comedic value.
I find it difficult to understand why he cannot teach choreography very well. As a pro dancer I would ahve thought that he needed to do both discipines in competition. Speaking to my lovely friend last night, after watching their routine, she reminded me that Anton's previous partner Erin often choreographed very good routines for her celeb partners. Is it just Anton that is struggling here? Does he just not have the ability to teach it?
If so then why can't he call on the help of Kristina, Ola or even Ian Waite to help him put something together? I'm sure this wouldn't be against the rules.

I really think he has no chance of winning SCD now.”

Actually, they just need to be good enough to get to the final - and Chris Hollins wasn't really proficient in either.... If he can do it, then Katie certainly can, it just depends on their popularity and keeping out of the dance-off on dodgy weeks.

I suspect they won't do Samba, so that's all the 'party' Latins out of the way now - Anton has done perfectly decent Rhumbas and Pasos before and he did a really quite good Charleston with Laila.

I disagree, it just shows he knows where their strengths lie and is going to choreograph a dance to suit them.

Hi Michelle, I enjoy Anton's presence on Strictly and he adds value to the show.

I think his latin dancing is good enough, and he can choreograph some good routines, even if some people would like him to miss out the comic angle because they want a 'serious' fun latin.

I do think in the past he has made derogatory comments about latin and it his attitude towards it that could be picked up on by his detractors with some justification. His attitude towards latin might have improved, I don't know, but once you have such a reputation it will be difficult to shake off.

I thought the routine was better than the judges said until the ending - while not the greatest dance of all time it wasn't the worst either.

A fair few people seemed pleased that Anton had got Katie....but I have to wonder if she'd have faired better with somebody who is a Jack of all trades but master of none.

I hope he was only joking. Anton should be able to choreograph, and Katie dance, a good serious Paso (hopefully as good or better than Laila). I will be disappointed if he goes for a comic angle next week.

Didn't Anton rather dismissively call the Paso Doble a tango with aggression or something? I won't insult his intelligence by starting the varied fundamental differences in styling, character and technique but that statement definitely indicates some contempt. Anton may appear somewhat competent in group numbers where he is often given as little Latin possible, but there is a problem with the pro himself if he cannot duplicate that that proficiency next to an amateur. It's one thing for the celeb to be a lost cause. We've seen many duds on the dance floor; sometimes it can't be helped. But a professional should always look like a professional regardless and I can't say that for Anton in his Latin dances, yet Anton often appears just as off. He doesn't have enough skill to lead a Latin dance with an amateur partner without looking a frantic, behind mess himself. Honestly, I thought Katie outclassed him in the jive. That speaks to her natural ability and his poor abilities as both a Latin dancer and instructor.

I don't feel remotely sorry for her. She seems to be enjoying herself and I think she is well suited to Anton.

Im really happy that he has a contender and someone who can dance for a change rather than someone hopless and stiff. its not his fault that most of his partners cant dance. he can only give them what they are capable of. for example it was a great VW from Katie Ann Widdicombe certinatly wouldnt be able to achieve what Katie did in 4 days

I think hes past his best now. I thought it was difficult to tell who was the professional. The judges shouldn't blame her. Sorry Anton you should stick to the all-so-rans..”

Ive always loved Anton and thought "oh its not his fault poor anton cant they give him someone good" then i cheered when he got someone good and now im like
