Tristan not wearing a poppy on ITT. I don't normally feel offended but I take that as a snub to this country.
It's offensive to be forced to wear one, regardless of one's nationality.

What does Tristan as a celeb partner and pro dance on Strictly have to do with wearing a poppy??
BBC poppy fascism. Everyone must wear a poppy on the telly for around 4 weeks up to 11/11. It's ridiculous. Surely so many fought and died for future generations' freedom to decide what they want to do, like not wear a poppy on a dancing show when you're dressed up like a zombie, or vampire.

Wearing a symbol of remembrance for the dead whilst dressed as the living dead; yeah that is bizarre.

I thought Tristan was lovely on ITT and it was great to hear Jamelia say what a cheerleader he is.
Yep - they are a great match-up. Love their chemistry.

I watched him on dancing with the stars and SCD and it's clear to see that he can not dance and is worse than Anton. He had around 5 series in America and 2 series here and has never made a final or won or done anything worthy. His partners i feel sorry for since they have someone who dances worse than Anton since Tristan cant choreograph a good ballroom or latin. someone else probibly choregoraphed Jamellias Charleston for her. Hope this is his last year on SCD and gets axed before Anton. Cant see Anton going though since he has a fanbase and has been on every series. if he was going to be axed it would have happened before now

In fairness though his youngest ever partner he's had is Jamelia. He lasted 8 weeks (5th place) on DWTS with Nancy Grace and 6 weeks with Gladys Knight, not a win but not terrible either. One of his partners had to withdraw in the 2nd week because she was injured and another one of his partners had been given a 3 month life expectancy before she went on the show because she had cancer. No disrespect to Jennifer but she wouldn't have gotten to the final last year even if she had Anton as a partner, though she may have lasted a few more weeks because of Anton's fanbase.

I vaguely remember all this about Tristan also not wearing a poppy last year, I think he wore one for the main show last year but not ITT. Personally I think it should be up to him if he wears one or not.
Spot on. I find it more offensive that everyone is obviously forced to wear one.

It's the Irish in him coming through and those dimples are so sweet. He is one of the nicest pros on the dance floor.

People in Ireland don't wear poppies, I have a feeling it was a deliberate choice not to wear one. It probably wasn't a snub to the country but rather a snub to it's history.

People in Ireland most certainly DO.

In fact they sell and wear poppies. Thousands of young Irish men fought and died in WW1/2 and many feel it appropriate to commemorate this by the wearing of the little red flower.

It is a personal choice and I see no disrespect in any individial choosing not to wear one. Why does everthing have to have a negative slant on it.

If you see even 3 in one day in Dublin that would be astounding, as a general rule people don't wear them so while a couple of people do its certainly not the done thing in general.

Then again the BBC portrayal of it makes it look like every British person wears one all day every day. So I've no clue how many Brits legitimately wear them. If the Russian state broadcaster was demanding people wear something to celebrate the "Great Patriotic War" I'm sure the BBC would have their knickers in a twist over it but they force-feed the poppy on British society.

I concur that it not as prevelant in the UK, however, in response to the contributor who berated Tristan for not wearing a poppy as some form of disrespect to the UK, I gave my honest reply.

I have personally seen sellers (in Rathgar&Rathmines) selling poppies and people sporting them..and that has been for a good many years.

I absolutely loathe those that berate people for not wearing them...its ridiculous. &to bring it into a SCD forum seems really sad

Utter rubbish. He hasn't had anyone capable of dancing to be able to "win" anything.

I love Tristan's laid back personality. Not a diva at all. He's not British. So why should he wear a poppy? Doesn't make sense.

Probably because there's an Army barracks in Rathmines (my brother is in that one), I work in town and don't remember ever seeing anyone selling them.

I do agree though that people shouldn't be berated for not wearing them. Surely it's better that people wear them because they want to and not because they're forced to so that people don't think they're being disrespectful by not wearing them.

Like Tristan's dry sense of humour and easy going manner. At the beginning of the interview with Tristan and Jamelia plus Kellie and Kevin on ITT yesterday, a couple of times he glanced at the camera to laugh.

(Don't think anyone should be slated for not wearing a poppy - least of all someone from a different country!
Think the BBC encourages poppy wearing as the Daily Wail and the Sun would slate them if they didn't.)
