So who's looking forward to this? I saw the pilot months ago, will there likely be changes to tomorrow's airing?

I thought it was great.

As for a Arrow/Flash/LOT crossover the makers have said they have no plans for that to happen at the moment but haven't ruled it out happining one day in a future series.

I thought the pilot was only all right. I'll give the show a good go and see how it goes.

What day does it air in the US ?

Cheers.

Um I think I might as well keep it for Superhero Thursday's and watch the three shows together. In which case I might as well watch it on Sky and give them another viewer. Hmmm.

Is there anyone really looking forward to this, or is everyone cautiously optimistic like me ?

The Pilot was okay (the leaked version of it anyway) but it wasn't brilliant. I thought it felt a bit rushed and convenient, and what took place could have (or should have) happened over two episodes.

Needless to say, there is potential.

Oh that sounds awesome, but no. My missus hates Shield, so I watch that on my own time. We watched the first episode of Heroes Reborn and neither of us were too fussed about it, but I'll probably power thought it on my own later on. And we've never tried iZombie. Would you recommend it ?

So it's Flash, Arrow and Supergirl for Superhero Thursday's. We also dress up as our favourite heroes for it. This week I'm Booster Gold

^sounds like viewing nights are most fun.

As for iZombie - methinks it is one of those shows you'll only need to watch an ep or two to know if it is for you. - it is also one of those series I'll be rewatching. <- how's THAT for a spoiler free recommendation.

I kid, we don't dress up. 😊

Might give it a whirl so. Will have plenty of time at the weekend to watch it

I'm looking forward to seeing where they go with the story, I enjoyed the pilot and think it has a lot of potential and I like Melissa Benoist.

I wonder if it will change though. I think they done it with minority report when it leaked. Totally changed it as many who seen the leak were confused when they joined on episode 2 and it had naff all from the leaked pilot in it.

I hope they get rid of any feminist stuff.

Lets just have a super hero who happens to be female, and not get into any gender politics stuff.

They totally ruined the 'Wonder Woman' remake with the OTT feminist stuff.

OOh that's almost exactly what I said elsewhere. They should just go with a strong empowered woman and leave it at that. You don't need to make a statement to make a statement.

I don't think the feminist stuff ruined the WW remake! LOL

Well that seemed to be exactly as the early release pilot was.

Even with the rubbish 'Are not girls as good as women' speech given by Calista's character.

You may have the body of a girl Calista but you are a woman, not a girl.

Her sister jumping down her bosses throat after his "she's not good enough" with her "what, cos she's a giiiiirrrrrrrllll ?!" was very much a SMH moment. I felt he was referring to her inexperience, it being her 2nd time battling an Alien Prison Baddie, the 1st one ending kinda badly; rather than a "she needs to go knit me a sweater and make me some pie instead of fighting that guy" type comment.

Other than that, big thumbs up.

A copy and paste:

I've seen the pilot and it's awful. The show's biggest problem - like with many movies and TV shows that star female leads - is that the men who are writing/directing forget they're writing an actual human being and get completely hung up on the gender of the character. It's not helped by the fact that it's written by the show creators of Arrow and Flash which feature some of the worst female characters I've ever seen.

They treat Supergirl's gender as some sort of obstacle to overcome when that's just not the character at all. She's Supergirl. She's above gender politics. That should not even factor into her story at all.

Her first villain just so happens to be a misogynist ("on my planet females bow before males!") and that speech from Calista Flockhart about "Girl vs women" was so self-conscious and on the nose. It felt like the creators thought they were going to get backlash from feminists so they put in this exposition-fest justification of the title. We're not stupid - we know why the show is called 'Supergirl'. It's brand recognition. Geez.

And I'm sorry, they're trying to make Kara way too much like Felicity in Arrow (that's not a compliment) so that she appears relateable to the teenage girl audience. She's an alien immigrant and, unlike her cousin, she had an actual life that she remembers in another galaxy far away. Those elements should come into play for her character just like it did for Supergirl in Smallville.

Also, because they've made Jimmy Olsen an older smoother guy it would have made sense to cast a white ginger haired man to show that progression. They have chosen to make this Jimmy Olsen so different personality-wise that the race change just makes him seem like a different character altogether.

The special and practical FX are good (clearly influenced by Man of Steel) but that's about it. I really hope that when this show inevitably gets cancelled that other show runners can analyse that it failed because of how the creators handled a female lead and not because it's a female character in itself.

re: Jimmy call me James Olsen - I'm irked by his beef-cakeyness, not his race. If they include some reference to his previous geekiness, maybe throwing in a photo or two of him from his pre-Godlike body era, then I won't have any difficulty accepting him.
