Was expecting her to take it into space like Superman did in one of the original movies.
But then I thought: how much would that cost? |

It was rather pathetic how she just let it go splat, rather than flinging it into space.
It only just missed that beach when it landed in the water. |

It only just missed that beach when it landed in the water. I would have been happy with her just flinging it in to space...we wouldn't need to see her in space, just grab and fling see it disappear off and a big boom a few seconds later (no reason required for it randomly going off). She's supposed to be Supergirl, yet she was beaten by a "guidance system"!! Must admit I only started watching this show again (gave up after 2-3 eps) because of the damn flash cross over, I hope this gets cancelled, or a seriously improved season 2 (there are plenty of shows that have had a "foot-finding" first season and a much better second season...he says whilst not being able to think of an example). |

Yeah that irritated me, the whole scene, the silly keypad code was only to disable the auto tracking right? If that's the case, it doesn't mean it won't explode in impacted surely?

I've kind of given up already.
I haven't watched the last two episodes. I just find it generally lacking. It's supposed to be Supergirl. She's from Krypton. ie she is indestructible, 'super' strong, fast and powerful. Yet every week the humans and the marshan have to step in and lend her hand with the baddie of the week. It's starting to annoy me. When they stop treating Supergirl like a stupid weak new DEA agent and start having her behave like, well, Supergirl. Then I'll tune back in. |

Half the episodes are okay, half are trash. No idea why I'm still watching. I do actually find Cat Grant quite amusing.

Yay. This is good news. It needs a complete revamp of the writing and the style is entirely wrong, but there is a foundation there of a great show

If they want to make this show better, they need to do a few things before they launch season 2. 1) The Supergirl crew, writers and vfx should have a chat with the crew, writers and vfx guys behind Arrow & Flash; they could learn a lot from them. 2) Supergirl needs to lose this lovey dovey crap that they've been playing between Kara and James, and anyone else for that matter. 3) Get rid of the poor cast members; sorry Non, but you've got to go. 4) Superman needs that cameo, and I'm talking about the adult version. If not Superman, then at least Clark Kent. If there's ever a threat to the entire planet, Clark/Superman couldn't surely leave it all in the hands of Kara. 5) Similar theme to above, but (I think) we need Manhunter to become public, not Hank, but Manhunters existance, and his involvment needs to be more, and in the public eye. 6) Maxwell Lord - decide what to do with him. Good Guy or Bad? 7) Allow Lucy to be in on the secret. We've got through this secret identity thing enough already with Arrow and Flash. I bore of waiting weeks and weeks and months for someone who should know to be left in the dark, especially when they're capable of working it out if only they put some thought into it. Quote:
Yep, I'm glad it got another chance, but it definitely needs some serious re-tooling. Benoist is the only thing I definitely wouldn't change.

Look at how DC characters who will be appearing in the DC Film Universe have already been killed off in Flash/Arrow (Waller, Deadshot). If, as many assume, it's Warner's film division that ordered that to happen with those lesser characters who are appearing in more of a side film, then there is no way on earth that they would allow one of their top two characters to appear on TV while he is appearing in one of their main films. I said in another thread that I think we're lucky that we even have The Flash - I'd bet that if the TV people had tried to develop that just a year later the film people would have put a stop to it due to them planning on using him on the big screen. |

Agree with the other points, though - especially ditching the romance crap!

I think that is absolutely sod all chance of that *ever* happening.

Yep, it doesn't work at all. Zero chemistry.Quote:

I'm not so sure. Personally, I have never particularly liked any incarnation of MM, and what we have seen of him in action so far wasn't very encouraging. I prefer him as Hank, even if that does present some logical problems. For instance, having a Superman level being like that just sitting around DEO HQ, while a nuclear a missile is heading for the city, doesn't really make a lot of sense.Quote:
She's cute and that, but the woman playing Alex is the better actress out of the [on screen] sisters.
Probably, but the show could easily go on without her. I don't mind her, I am just a little bit unsure about the whole continued DEO connection for Supergirl.

I was wondering why they only recently started showing Supergirl having the super speed ability (when not flying). Must have been after they decided to bring in Flash. I think, unless I blinked and missed it, the first time it happened it wasn't even Supergirl herself but her clone when they were fighting. Since then Supergirl herself has done it, though often she still seems slow to move during fight sequences. In reality she'd be like Flash and outmanoeuvre the baddies most of the time. I suppose they've got to keep her 'dumbed down' to make it more of a challenge. Hope that poster is right and it's some sort of superhero face off as a bit of fun (e.g. for charity) to see who is the fastest. Would explain why they get together as a one-off and easier to accept than Superman always sitting it out when Supergirl is facing a national/world threat. Though if MM can chill out in the DEO when a nuke is about to hit the city why should Superman bother to cape up.

Arrow is easily as bad as Supergirl, and Flash was on a sharp downwards trajectory at the start of the season, before leveling off a bit. Flash in particular has the advantage of a better cast, though, but all 3 shows have a problem I have mentioned before. Either the writers are complete idiots, or they just assume their audience is.

I find they're much easier to enjoy if I don't sit an analyse everything that's going on and just accept it's a comic book based TV show with a limited budget and some sloppy show running at times
![]() None of them are perfect, either in the DC or Marvel stables, all have their strengths and weaknesses but, for me, they're all hugely entertaining so the day they stop being that is the day I stop watching. |

Where speed is concerned, Barry should win each and every time.
It was interesting in the Fortress of Solitude episode that James said that Supergirl was faster at flying than Superman, so who knows what her potential really is if it's never been fully tested as far as the show is concerned. Though as speed is Flash's only super ability (that I know of, only watched a couple of the episodes so far) it makes sense that he dominates any tests of that ability, out of fairness to DC's super heroes. |
