And I'm surprised to hear of the negativity surrounding this show?
The show has good elements, and as with any show based on a fictional setting, we've got to take some things with a pinch of salt, but Supergirl is all over the place, and full of stupid little things that I can only assume is lazy writing. Soldiers using bullets that they KNOW don't work when they're trying to fight aliens. A conveniant Kryptonian key being left right outside the door to Clark's fortress (there are other Kryptonians on Earth), that awfully quick messaging service that Clark has... I've said before, but if they get some more/better writers in, touch up their special effects, and ditch the lovestick rubbish the show might just take off. Until then, it's leaving a lot to be desired. When I think what Arrow and Flash achieved in their first seasons, and then I look at Supergirl, I laugh. |

re: the upcoming Flash and Supergal run off - do we think this happens at a time where there is absolutely zero crime happening anywhere "nearby" - and by nearby I mean anywhere either of the two could get to without raising a sweat with enough time to spare to save those in trouble. And yes I am using this could-be-awesome upcoming event to repeat a little niggle I have with the two shows that they've yet to address, the whole: why would either of them ever allow themselves some "me time" when there are bound to be people close by who are in desperate need of help only they could bring. Anway, Flash had better win, darn it.

I guess that's Alex and Hank out of the picture for a little while then; at least until they've found that base, then the team will come together to rescue Mr Danvers. I am hopeful that this facility will feature other aliens (good and bad) that become reoccurring on the show too.
The more I think about it, the more I am also wondering whether Flash and Supergirl do actually exist on the same Earth, but for whatever reason haven't been spoken about before. I guess we'll have to wait till next week to see, but yeah, I don't know, something just doesn't quite seem to add up if it's just another earth. Surely that would require more than a mere episode to write into play? |

Spoiler
I thought that was a good episode and finally some actual use for Lucy Lane instead of just a bloody road block in the ridiculous Kara/james relationship which has been so badly done. She actually makes complete sense as the new head of the DEO and i'm glad she's now in on the secret and able to help from the inside. Loved the fact we got to see how Alex ended up at the DEO, loved that we saw the beginning of Silver Banshee, loved that we saw how Jeremiah and J'onn met and loved that it was a direct follow up to last week's. I also liked that Cat knows Kara well enough to know she'd never behave in the say Siobhan tried as a means of getting her fired. And I like how they can use a comic book story to make commentary on the things which are happening in the world today. As they've always done through the medium of the arts, the feeling of being a refugee, displaced and having to become "totally average" to fit in and find a place to belong was subtly done but powerfully effective. Especially when contrasted with the inherent fear and hatred which was displayed by the US military through the mouthpiece of Jim Harper and, for a short while, Lucy herself. Although I did find her sudden about face to believe Alex was lying a tad jarring and maybe we've also seen the origin story of this version of The Guardian thanks to our Martian Manhunter friend messing with Harper's mind? And Easter egg namecheck to Project Cadmus, although it doesn't sound quite as friendly as its comic book incarnation! Always happy to watch Dean Cain so I'm hoping we're going to be getting more of him in the next few episodes before the big season finale and can't wait for next week's crossover with The Flash! |

Cat: "I don't understand why the city still hasn't forgiven Supergirl!
"Well, Cat, it probably didn't help that you went on TV and told everyone that she was dangerous and couldn't be trusted! -------- - Finally, a use for Lucy! - Alex looks much better with long hair. - Interesting revelation about Jeremiah. - I wonder how Siobhan got her powers? - Good to see Warehouse 13's Eddie McClintock in something again. |

Oh okay then, well I'm more than happy with that, and it would explain the lack of cameos so far (if it's not just a case of jumping through a portal etc). A slight shame we wont get a Manhunter/Flash meet though, at least not yet anyway... if the crossover is a success, then I doubt it'll be the last.
I think a LOT/Supergirl crossover is likely if the Wave Rider can time travel that easy then it's not to hard to say it can jump to diffrent Earths to. |

I also thought (re spoiler above) that Earth 3 was suppose to be the evil versions of our heroes, rather than just another Earth? |

DC is notorious for the different variants of the same place so I guess it depends which version they're using and whether my memory of the spoiler was correct.

And just because it's like that in the comics, doesn't mean that it has to be on TV.

I thought the Flash crossover was the best episode so far.

Neither Arrow nor Flash seem to have this trouble (though Flash has had the multiple episodes where the crush is just itching to find out about Barry's other identity), but it's all watchable. The romance crap with Supergirl actually makes me want to turn it off. It was otherwise a good episode, and I suppose in one sense this opens up the possibility for aliens to appear in Arrow/Flash/Legends (we already know future timeships have the ability to travel through space). We've one Earth with Flash and Arrow (and a version of Bruce Wayne), we've another Earth with (a) Flash and Aquaman, and we've got a third Earth with Superman and Supergirl (and Manhunter). I wonder whether we're ever going to see a lower budget Lantern, Wonder Woman or Cyborg anytime soon... |

Thought it was another good week.
Great to see Flash crossover hopefully she will now appear on Flash series 3 and him back again next year. Maybe it should have been a two parter him getting back home just seemed a bit easy in the end. In the comics Silver Banshee actully looks like that so maybe they should have gone with that rarther than make up. Overall I loved it though. |

Edit: If we were to get Supergirl on Earth 1, I'd imagine it would require a bigger story than a mere crossover. Maybe better suited to a Legends double-bill for their second season if they can get Barry, Ollie and the Legends characters all together for some big event of which Supergirl assists somehow. Wouldn't hurt to have Hank/Manhunter in that [would be] episode too. About time the Arrowverse was introduced to a true alien. ![]() Quote:

Well the baddies this week were just awful were they not? It was like panto level bad.
As for the story? It was okay. I think earth hopping left Barry a little "high" as he seemed like he was "on something" during the episode. Obviously tweeked his personality a little to accommodate the supergirl tone but still. As for will she won't she with james...not my cuppa. There is this thing that jars with me. They have a show about a strong woman, led by a strong woman (supergirl) where we are reminded by a strong woman (cat) all about women's virtues and place in society etc. But then this show that pr aches that, makes a large portion of it about her chasing after some guy and love story. That part jars against everything else. It's like spending the day with a feminist to get home and find out she makes dinner for her husband every night cuz "that's when he likes it" Currently supergirl is failing miserably at the bechdel test. The Bechdel test asks whether a work of fiction features at least two women who talk to each other about something other than a man. The requirement that the two women must be named is sometimes added. - wiki |

Genius episode, spent the majority of it with a massive grin on my face and brilliantly summed up by this fabulous cartoon from the pen of Lord Mesa. Great use of music, The Flash theme tune in the background whenever Barry was on screen was very cleverly done. The nod to the CW made me laugh, Barry's (okay Grant's) charm and charisma jumping off the screen and bringing that light-hearted element to National City. I loved that the focus wasn't on Barry/The Flash even though he was the big episode draw, it was all still moving along the pieces that Supergirl has been telling throughout Season One. As the AV Club review said: Quote:
For better or for worse, “Worlds Finest” represents Supergirl in a nutshell: Fun, clunky, cheesy, and more intelligent than it seems at first glance.
Best episode of the season yet in a completely different way from previous drama heavy ones. It was light, frothy, carried the series long arc forward, brought in an origin story on screen for Silver Banshee and stuck to her comic book appearance and brought back Livewire who is as camp as Christmas in her own right. Together they were hilariously over done. Also liked that it was the people of National City and the firefighters Supergirl had rescued previously who came to her aid when the takedown started to go wrong. And we finally get a James/Kara kiss with her usual nerdish overreaction and then find Non has unleashed Myriad but it's another two week wait until April 11th to find out just what he's up to. No promo out yet just episode stills. |

Brilliant review on TV.com where the usual Supergirl and The Flash reviewers joined forces. My favourite bit: Quote:
Nick: . . .Could you imagine if Green Arrow showed up in National City? It would just be Oliver, James, and Winn sitting in a room together listening to The Smiths. As an aside though, apparently TPTB said it's not Earth-Three.Noel: "Dude, I was in love with this girl, and she just doesn't feel that way same about it. I've mostly come to terms with it. Also: My most recent crush is now a supervillain." "Dude, I've got this weird fetish (or so some TV critic says) for human-looking aliens with god-like powers, and I can't decide what to do about it. Also: I got mind-controlled by some weird alien device when she kissed me." "Dude, my fiancée just dumped me because I didn't tell her about my secret love child with another woman from like five years ago that I didn't even know I had. Also: she quit my superhero team, and now we don't have a computer wizard." Quote:
when asked why the crossover takes place in Supergirl's universe (which, by the way, Kreisberg made clear was not Earth-Three but an unknown numbered Earth) and not the Flash's, Berlanti responded, "We never really considered it the other way. I don't think we even talked about that."

A very good episode, if they can keep that up with out the Flash, then they will be onto a winner.
Not too much navel gazing or being a downer. The people saving Supergirl was a bit too much like the bit in Spiderman where the people of New York save Spiderman. Good but cheesy. Ordinary people are so fickle. |

I was hoping that Flash would be bringing his CGI budget with him to Supergirl, unfortunately not.
