I think it was inevitable once we knew the production would be moving.

Very enjoyable second episode. I hope Tyler relaxes a little more into the role for future episodes. He's not bad, but it's very obvious that he's acting like Superman, compared to how natural Melissa comes across as Supergirl.

So far I like Snapper Carr, and I'm pretty happy to see Cat go. I think she's one of the characters who really put off a lot of male viewers, as she was always the voice of excessive girl power on the show. And I nearly did a little happy dance, when it looked like "James" was moving on too, but no such luck, unfortunately. But at least he wasn't in this episode much.

There's still no evidence of the supposedly reduced budget a lot of people were so concerned about, so hopefully it wasn't just a case of them blowing all the cash on the Superman episodes.

It has always amused me that, for the most part, each DC Hero has a city to protect. Superman has Metropolis, Supergirl has National City, Flash has Central City, Arrow has Star City, Batman has Gotham. I can related (somewhat) with Arrow and Batman; they're not superhuman, and thus can't jump from city to city on a whim, but the others are fast enough to protect [the world] but it's still deemed that they have a specific city to protect. That's one thing Marvel typically have over DC; in that their heroes are global (for the most part at least).

I concur. I was surprised to hear when it was stated she'd be in Season 2, but for the sake of two episodes and all that...

I guess people were worried about nothing; I wasn't. Seeing the special effects in Arrow, Flash & Legends, I was more than content with what I expected to see with Supergirl. Thus far, no concerns.

Glad to hear she is leaving, slowly but surely the show is improving. I was just hoping we would see more of Katie McGrath, she would be an awesome villain.

Regarding effects budget, when Kara is absorbing the green rays on the garage roof, throws a car then jumps over; when she jumps the special effects are lacking, her head does not scale correctly or mesh to her body well as she jumps over :/

I was thinking the other day. that Melissa is in her mod 20s.(28 i tnink). i wonder how the show would handle things if she were to start a family?

We've decided we're not having children quite yet, so you'll need not worry for a few more years to come.

Not sure that really holds up. Spider-Man is pretty specific to NY, Daredevil sticks to just a few blocks, even. One thing Marvel have always prided themselves on is that their heroes live in real cities, as opposed to Gotham and Metropolis. Sure, The Avengers are global, and teams like the F4 and X-Men get around, but no more so than the Justice League, Teen Titans, etc.

Yes, that one actually sprung to mind, when I mentioned the effects. I decided not to mention it, but it was pretty terrible looking. There definitely were a few dodgy shots here and there, but overall it was pretty decent for TV, and in many cases an improvement over most of season 1.

I guess we should reflect on the powers here. Spider-Man, Captain America, Hulk (etc) aren't all that fast, and it would take some time for them to get from one city to the next. From the current roster the only ones that can get around (and seemingly do) are Ironman, Thor and Vision (he can teleport, right?)

With DC, you've got Flash, Superman and Supergirl that should be capable of getting around much more, even quicker than Ironman, yet stick to their specific cities.

No, he can't teleport, but he can change his density allowing him to walk through walls or become incredibly massive (massive as in dense, not in size).

The practicalities of how they would get around is somewhat besides the point, though, and a lot depends on the source material. While the budget of a CW show might now allow Supergirl to go on too many field trips, in the comics, she's all over the place. But to the point that it somehow gives Marvel characters an advantage, I would use the example of Batman and Gotham City, where his hometown has become such an asset it can have its very own show without Batman himself appearing (... until Geoff johns sees the latest ratings . Even Smallville, Superman's secondary location, was kind of a big deal for 10 seasons or so.

I enjoyed it another good episode.

Melissa is great as Kara/Supergirl as usual and I liked the scenes between Alex and Winn.

I agreed with Clark about the bank robber punching him after the bullets didn't work on either himself and Kara so why do it?

Shame about Cat Grant leaving as I'm not liking Snapper Car at the moment.

So are Lucy Lane and Maxwell Lord both not returning this season?

Episode Two was just as good as the season opener for me. I think it's been a great idea to have Clark/Superman be involved in these first two episodes while they also set up Cat going and some of the new people coming in.

Yes the effects aren't cinematic quality but I don't care, they work for the small screen and they're done, in the main, exceptionally well.

I was very teary at various points in that episode, the Cat/Kara scenes were fabulous, they've really built up a superb dynamic. Loved the contrast in the Alex/Evul Woman Scientist (do we have an actual name for and I've just missed it?) scenes where she spoke to Alex like a child.
Really well done by Chyler as for just a second or so I thought Alex was going to go with her (more in a bid to find Jeremiah than because she believed her) but I loved her snarling reply

Also loved the Easter Egg nod to the Crisis on Infinite Earths cover when Supes picked up Kara before flying off after their first fight with Metallo. See this piece on Den of Geek for what I mean

As a PS, I don't think Cat's gone for good, Calista is now a guest star rather than regular so I'm guessing she'll turn up at semi-regular intervals or maybe towards the season finale.

Oh and I wonder if James moving into Cat's office is
Spoiler
part of the build up to his new identity?

It was a good episode this week despite some of the special effects looking dodgy like when the president was attacked and Supergirl was on fire

It's good to see them expanding on the characters with Mon-El and Maggie Sawyer being introduced along with the alien bar with the daughter of Mars working behind the bar!

You can see the positive effects of it being on The CW and so glad to see Cat leave as she was taking up way too much screen time!

It did seem strange to have Lynda Carter as the president but then have her appear in the show for only a few brief scenes!

Wonder Woman as an alien president, the Mon El/Kara snarkiness and bonding, the inevitable Alex/Maggie pairing and J'Onn meeting Miss Martian - another brilliant episode.

Plus the Lena/Kara dynamic is reminding me of Clark and Lex's from early seasons of Smallville.

I am absolutely loving Supergirl this season, three episodes in and every one has been a complete winner.

Loved Lynda Carter as the President, loved her quip about her jet, intriguing she's an alien. Also liking them fleshing out the core characters with Maggie Sawyer, Mon-El and now Miss Martian (M'gann M'orzz/Megan Morse). I like Sharon Leal, she's a great actress.

Also liking the dynamic between Alex and Maggie, wonder if they're about to introduce a same sex romance?

Also liked seeing Kara being judgemental, biased and all together not her usual cheery see the good in everyone self until she was pulled up on her own prejudices by Snapper.

The plot did seem a bit reminiscent of X-Men/Marvel's Civil War etc but I guess that's only to be expected and no matter what they did, they'd get some sort of comment about the Alien Amnesty Act. It's probably a good thing that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has moved a bit away from that to there's no TV show to directly compare against at the moment with the mutants/alien threat angle.
I liked the parallels with early immigrants to the United States though and the whole Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island speech.

Good to see a bit more of Katie McGrath as well, her accent still needs work though

Put her in a coma and have her consciousness AND abilities transfered to Alex - the Xena show did something similar when Lucy was outta action for a bit.

I'm remembering when Jennifer Garner was pregnant whilst shooting the Alias show. They handled it by making the character pregnant too. I would've preferred they just delayed shooting for 6 months since the show was basically her kicking ass, doing amazing stunts whilst dressed in an evening gown, which wasn't possible whilst heavily pregnant.

I hope they don't turn Alex bi, it would definitely be shoe horned in.

Have no problem with seeing Maggie in a same sex relationship, but they did lay the whole immigrant/difference/outcast thing on heavy, especially with the bar.

If they wish to build on the character and have Maggie portray a same-sex relationship, then I have no problem with that, though I would rather they didn't take Alex down that route. It's never once been implied that Alex is/was Bi, and to suddenly throw her into such a relationship would seem forced, and for the mere sake of it.

Surely they can be a little more creative?

They've never given any indication of Alex's sexual status, unless you're counting the flirting/date with Max Lord?
That's why it could easily work if Alex is bisexual.

I don't know if they will do it in the TV Show but in the comics as Mon-El is a Daxamite then Kryptionite has no effect on him but his weakness (And all Daxamite's) is lead.

True, they haven't given any indication her sexuality, but I still feel as though it would seem forced, merely for what? More ratings?

It's been suggested that with the introduction of the alien cop lady that

Batwoman
could be turning up sometime along the line too. Which has the potential of being frickin awesome since
Spoiler
Batman
will never be gracing the CW screens.
