One character doesn't necessarily mean the appearance of another. Besides, the same was once said of Superman, and he's now on our screens, so there's a possibility of the latter at some point, even if he's from (yet another) Earth.

We know Gotham exists in Kara's Earth, and we know Bruce Wayne exists on Earth 1.

^ I thought they were legally NOT allowed to bring Bruce to the small screen. IIRC Smallville wanted to but were given a firm "not on your nelly" by whomever is in charge of Bruce's calendar. (Although they did kinda get round that as Batman DOES appear in the Smallville comics)

I don't know about the legality of it, but I think it's a little ignorant to suggest that we'll never see Batman on the small screen.

It's a shame though that so many characters are disputed between. The whole Marvel mess is a prime example, with the rights to certain characters being split between Fox, Disney, Sony etc. Just think how epic some of the films could have been if the writers and such weren't restricted with who they could and couldn't use when and where.

The sooner these cooperation's get their head out of their asses and realize that it's in both their, and the fans interest to allow collaboration, the better for all. They're too focused on how much profit they can squeeze from each instalment that it's ruining what could be epic.

Ultimately, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Batman on the small screen (even if as a guest character) before long. The benefit the CW shows have, is any character they don't want to overuse (Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, even a Green Lantern) they can just say "we're introducing a character from a different Earth for a couple of episodes for a storyline". For all viewing purposes, Earth 1 doesn't have to actually be Earth 1; that's just what they (our team) reference it to be. The actual Justice League, with all core members, could very well exist on one of those many other Earths out there.

The we are moving back to Gotham reference was a good comical reference to Batman's home town it made me giggle a bit.

You just summarized all of Hollywood in one paragraph (only minus all the sexual corruption). The whole thing is just a mess and you're right, it would be awesome to have all these IPs under one banner, but it's never gonna happen 'cos they're all so greedy.

That was years ago a new head of DC took over eariler this year and now is more willing hence why last year Superman wasn't allowed to be seen and this year he is.

Wonder if there'll be a reason why Mon-El a daxamite has the El name which is Kryptonian..not sure what i make of this show still i couldn't get into season 1 no matter how hard i tried but season two seems to have improved slightly but it all seems a bit forced still.
Some of the acting (particularly Jimmy) is awful and really detracts from the show, if i didn't already know i wouldn't have it pegged as being written by the same guys who created Flash, Arrow and Legends

It isn't written by the same team, it has its own team of writers and producers, but all shows are under Guggenheim as Executive Producer.

Maybe my brain couldn't deal with the potential awesomeness of having Batman on tv that I have to regard it as a never-gonna-happen event.

Ok, so maybe this isn't a never-ever thing, but defn not in the foreseeable future. But I'd love to be proven wrong. And with Batman being so protective of Gotham, that could be used as a "why the CW hero gang doesn't pop over to help out all the time", him having told them to keep out of his city. But him appearing as a silhouette on a monitor, we just see his cape, even that little bit, the knowing he was actually in the cw universe would be awesomely awesome.

Sort of. There's been a strong push lately to introduce more diversity in movies and TV, both in terms of sexuality and ethnicity. I don't think having Alex be bi-sexual or lesbian would be any kind of a problem in itself. It doesn't seem like a stretch for the character, but knowing this show, they're probably going to lay it on a big thick. Even the early hints in this episode were pretty heavy-handed.

Overall I didn't like this episode very much. The villain was terrible, and with minor superficial differences, boringly similar to several other forgettable villains. And like most of those other villains, she successfully pulled off the predictable distraction that somehow prevents the hero from using any of her/his powers to scan the tiny distance the villain could have possible covered in the few seconds the distraction lasted. At least she didn't take over all the TV screens, like every other villain seems to do on the show.

Lynda Carter was as obviously stunt cast as I predicted. She was really chewing out her few lines quite badly, and couldn't they have found a more subtle way to show she was an alien?

I am liking Lena Luthor, though. She's a rare example of good casting. Someone up-thread compared her and Kara to Lex and Clark on Smallville. I don't think she's that good, though... Not yet, anyway. Rosenbaum really was a stand-out and elevated an otherwise very mediocre show. I'm not seeing any of that on Supergirl yet. The Flash has (had?) something similar going for it with Tom Cavanagh.

The alien bar also bothered me a little. Not so much in terms of the idea, but how it was used. How in the world did a newly arrived and disorientated Mon-El just happen to come across it? And how much of a face-palm moment was it to have J'onn just happen to bump into the only other surviving Martian?

So all in all, heavy-handed sexuality issues aside, it felt a lot like a children's show this week.

Agreed on all counts. I don't see it being a problem but they're likely to lay it down with a trowel. Subtlety ain't the done thing with CW shows it seems!

I guess this answers one thing then...

Spoiler
“One of the characters on one of the shows [‘Arrow,’ ‘The Flash,’ ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ and ‘Supergirl’] is going to be exploring their sexuality and coming out,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said (via Entertainment Weekly) at The CW’s panel at the Television Critics Association’s press tour on Thursday. “We’re very excited about that.”

Great to see Wonder Woman as the president, seems she's leading a double life in this too.

Can't be long before Morgana gets bored of playing nice with Kara and lets the true Luthor nature out.

I think the fact her 'date' was practically an extra, shows that she won't be around for long.

When she grabbed Alex's hand at the fight club, I just rolled my eyes.

I enjoyed it and I'm already shipping Kara and Mon-El.

I'm still not a fan of Snapper Carr but I'm liking Mon-El, M'gann, Lena and Maggie more and more each episode.

I wonder if Roulette will return?

So last week it was revealed she was a Green Martian, this week she is revealed as a White Martian. I can't wait for next weeks cliffhanger where she is revealed to be a lizard person from the planet Saturn.

Thought they were gonna have Alex and the detective kiss. Shocked to see she already has a date but was that jealousy? Dun Dun Duuuuuun.

Guys you don't have to spoiler things that have happened, it's the US Pace thread

I thought it was another strong episode, this time all about finding a place on Earth, Kara and Mon-El (who I am totally crushing on) are both refugees from their former enemy worlds and J'onn and M'gann were from enemy races on Mars, it's going to be interesting to see where they go with these dual storylines.

Miss Martian is a hero though so I'm hoping her secret isn't going to stay a secret for long, don't think it's canon to the comics that white Martians can disguise themselves as green ones though!

Loved the Mon-El/Winn bromance as well, they've certainly made Winn a far better character since his move to the DEO, it makes much more sense having him there than at Catco. Can't say I missed James at all though and Snapper makes me laugh, he reminds me of an old editor of mine who was a stickler for having sources locked down nice and tight

Loved seeing Dichen Lachman as Roulette, another one whose crossed the comic divide from Marvel to DC! The fight club scenes were done well and I liked the idea of alien exploitation. Wonder who her high up friend is going to be that got her bust out of jail.

Also liking the slow burn between Alex and Maggie and that relationship is hopefully getting time to develop if they do take it down the same sex route rather than just a new friendship for Alex who, let's face it, only has Kara and possibly Agent Piper (whose jumped ship to S.H.I.E.L.D. this season anyway!) to do the girly nights in with.

So many plots being juggled this season!

No "James" this week, so that was a plus, but other than that, it was a pretty weak episode. I am definitely not liking this whole aliens/society sub-plot they seem intent on sticking with. It's cheesy as hell, and I feel like we could be in for a season full of "hope" speeches. I would prefer the show to be a little more grounded, and it needs a strong central villain. Lena Luthor could be it, but it doesn't seem like they're quite ready to play that card yet.

It also felt a bit like Kara was a supporting character this week, but on the plus side, although I'm sick and tired of TV fauxmances, I don't hate her and Mon-El... yet.

Pretty substantial drop in the ratings. Maybe in part due to Halloween, but if the quality level of the last couple of episodes is where the show is going to settle in, I expect the ratings to slip further.

^ I didn't think it was any change in the quality of the show that has lead to the drop in numbers from last season, just Luddites not knowing how to work their remote to turn to the new channel.

Always a possibility, of course, but the season was actually off to a pretty strong start. I suppose it was inevitable that there was going to a post-Superman drop, but I really did think those first two episodes were overall mostly pretty solid, whereas the last two have not been that great. I just don't see this alien thing really grabbing most viewers. On paper, it sounds good, but between the execution and some silly looking rubber aliens, it's not really clicking so far.

I'd forgotten all about James, shows how much I think of him.

It feels like a lot more action happens at night now it's on CW, not being picky or anything, just an observation.

This week continued on the overriding path of acceptance in this season. The underground aliens struggling to find their place and taking to beating each other up for money. Then there's Mon-El and M'gann dealing with their survivors guilt in different ways. Alex's self discovery took another step - she looked mighty put out when Maggie's gf appeared on the scene.

She's another Neighbours alumni that's done well for herself in the US. Doubt we've seen the last of Roulette after being sprung from the nick.

I'm getting the impression/vibe that Lena has a crush on Kara...

Either by chance, or he has a subconscious alien detection ability.

I think it's good. A theme of this show seems to be former enemies (Kara & Mon-El being from opposing worlds) and now John & Megan being from opposing warring factions. I think it'll be harder (much harder) for John to accept Megan than it is for Kara to accept Mon-El though. Daxans weren't responsible for the near annihilation of an entire species.

Curious though, if a White Martian and a Green Martian have sex, what colour is the offspring? Teal? Grey? Olive? Yellow? Cyan?

Indeed, the fallout of John & Megan is going to be interesting. Not entirely sure they're going to take that route with Kara and Mon-El though... Presumably, I assume Mon-El is going to go off and do his own thing at some point, else the show would be renamed Supergirl & Mon-El: The Doomed Planet Duo.

Agreed. I hope they keep with this too, and have the two of them form a strong friendship, similar to Kara & Alex.

Heh, I could go for that, I just like looking at Chris Woods' face From what I've read though,
Spoiler
they seem to be taking an interesting path with him as Mon-El, more a playboy/fratboy not as keen on jumping in and using his powers to be a superhero but more into just enjoying his new life on Earth. They seem to be going to have him and Kara butting heads over responsibilities etc.

OMG yes, James is still in the show (or is he)?

Personally, it's SO much better without him.

In fact, S2 has already been so much better than season 1. It's got a very different feel (there are suddenly aliens popping up from all kinds of worlds, which is a BIT weird), but still liking it very much.
