Where's Poochie?
Ah 1.3 not that great, too much exposition of things we already know, and too predictable.

Supergirl: "My cousin! My cousin! My cousin! My cousin! My cousin! My cousin! MY COUSIN!!!"
UGH!!! ![]() And now we're going to have to deal with Lucy Lane: "My sister! My sister! My sister! My sister! My sister! MY SISTER!!!" |

I enjoyed that, although it was a bit of sledgehammer to crack the nut over Supergirl wanting to be her own person (hero) I still did like that she was able to take down Reactron where her cousin couldn't because she had the help of her sister and the DEO plus Winn and Jimmy.
They were able to find out his identity and a means to defeating him because she's willing to accept help from her sister/DEO and her friends but didn't want her cousin doing all the "supering" for her. I liked the nod at the end where Clark said he wouldn't interfere again and that he'd spoken to James so the Supes-signal wouldn't be answered on Kara's behalf again. Peter Facinelli's doing a fine job as well with his portrayal of Maxwell Lord and I loved the dynamic between him and Calista during the party. He has an agenda but it's difficult to work out yet just what it is. More mystery with Hank and his flashing red eyes. Still hoping they're going down the Martian Manhunter route not the Cyborg superman one, David Harewood brings a nice gravitas to the DEO Chief's role which I think would be missing if he turned out to be a big bad. Also absolutely loved Winn's "Clark Kent is Superman" moment, that was brilliantly done and I like how it's a little nod to Superman fans that he's there in the background and will be used in a specific way only when it fits into Kara's own story narrative about finding her place. |

UGH!!! ![]() " rolleyes They really need to stop with the feminism rubbish and the 'It's not about Superman' stuff. Oh and when you have almost defeated an enemy, it is a good idea NOT to let them fly away. Guess what SuperGIRL, you can fly too. They really should have left the feminism stuff out and let us ignore the gender issue along with the Superman issue. For a show that is trying to distance itself from Superman, there really was no need to bring in a Lucy Lane. She is just coming across as whiney. |

An okay episode I think, though I think Melissa could go a round or two at a fighting school. I get that they casted someone young and attractive for the role, but the fight scenes look beyond cheap. Considering that Arrow and Flash have a lower budget, their fight scenes (and overall feel to their shows) seem a lot smoother.
As stated above, I'm hoping Hank is Manhunter, but then why hasn't he got more involved? I guess it'll take a grander threat to the city before he does..? And yeah, Superman. I'm undecided on whether we should actually meet him in person on this show. Yes, it's a show on Supergirl, but Superman (somewhat) forms the backbone of the Kryptonians. I'd expect to actually see him on occasion, maybe the season final? |

Re. fight scenes:
Isn't the whole point that she *can't* fight properly, as she solely relies on her strength and doesn't know how to actually *fight* though? Kara isn't Oliver Queen - she may have superstrength, but she has zero training. |

If Perd Hapley is now a news anchor in National City, does that mean that Supergirl is in the same universe as Parks & Rec?

Clark having an instant message chat with Kara openly talking about himself as superman isn't the best move if he wants to keep his identity a secret.

How was that sexist it just meant she will always need her sister it would be the same if it was a brother.
It's obvious they are very close and don't think of each other as adopted sisters but real sisters. Would she have said it about SuperWOMAN? |

Wrong end of the sexist stick. It's not about her sister but about SuperMAN.
Would she have said it about SuperWOMAN? In the comics Superwoman (more than one of them) is not even related to her or from Krypton it's for the most part it's diffrent versons of Lois Lane inc one verson where that Lois is a evil Wonder Woman (but still uses the Superwoman name) Lastest verson is Lucy Lane but that was pre New 52 don't think they have one at the moment. So overall she may be more likely to say it to Superwoman. |

That's pretty much my take on it as well, hence why her sister was trying to work with her on her fight technique and we saw her remembering what Alex had said in the previous week's episode when she threw her Aunt off her "using their strength against them".

I find it amazing that this is killing 'Gotham' in the US ratings.

Not as of last Monday. It still beat Gotham, but by far less than previously. (Gotham didn't go up in the ratings, Supergirl went down)

It's their useless networks that keep ending shows because of poor US ratings, even though some of those shows we love over here - it's just usually too late by then.

This show is severely lacking something. I can't quite put my finger on it. I am losing interest a small bit.

Not sure if it wouldn't have made a better movie. Whereas the Flash has this great ensemble cast, here it's all pretty much on Supergirl (the rest are somewhat vapid stereotypes)... Give it a few more episodes. or cancel it and bring back Constantine. Only with writers that can understand the source material and actually write something of substance. |

A much better supporting cast this show needs. |
