No-one else watched Sunday's episode yet?

I thought it was another good one with more insight into what makes people tick although I did think the ending scene was a bit off as I don't believe for a minute that Alex wouldn't have checked for bugs etc after a reccie with Max Lord.
I know they have to move things on but that just seemed too "by the script" for me instead of him organically finding out.

But, back to the opening, cool escape from prison for the Toyman, lots of creepyness and more emphasis on nature versus nurture and whether we can change our fate etc given our genetics/background and the like.
Henry Czerny was brilliant as Toyman, just the right level of unhinged madness without being over the top. Also great to see an old Buffy alumni in Emma Caulfield as FBI Agent Chase.

I like that they are using Hank's alter ego more and it's not just been hidden away, also liked the conversations between Kara and Winn about how they dealt with things when their world's ended.

Personally I think I prefer him to James on the love interest front as they work much better as friends and I don't get any chemistry between the other two, not that there's much with Winn but it feels like a more natural progression from friendship.

Not feeling Lucy Lane as a character at all really, seems she's just been shoe horned in to try and bring a bit of conflict to the potential Kara/James relationship but I don't feel that much either so the whole thing just becomes a bit ploddy for me when they're involved.

Missed Cat's interactions with Kara in her unofficial role as advisor and unintentional oracle but she had some great one liners again and she's one of the real gems for me in this programme.

And, jumping back a bit to Hank's having to use his Martian powers and clearly doing it with a vast amount of regret. I liked the subtle way they commented on why people "don't mind" Supergirl and Superman (Max Lord excepted) even though they're aliens - because they look human. An entirely different scenario for if they saw J’onn J’onzz in his native glory.

Overall I'm giving it an 8 our of 10 for some stellar performances from Melissa and Jeremy in their heart to hearts.

ETA: Also loved the sneaky comic book Easter eggs in the two different toys which the Toyman passed on to Winn which mirrored his look in the JLU and then the later stories.

Just finished watching not long ago. Felt a bit sorry for Friendzone. First his dad is a murderer and then he is rejected by the love of his life. Have to agree though that there is more there than with James.
Can't help but dislike the whole Max Lord thing though. He seems to be the Plan B guy to me. Power cut? Back up generator. Files lost? Took copies. Systems destroyed? second camera doohickies. Alien break in? Anti Alien guns. I swear this guy would get Cancer and have a cure in his sock drawer or something. Arrested for being Evil? No worries he has the cell key on his house key as a precaution...just because. Hank should just pose as him and take a load of people hostage or something, escape and lead the police to Max then have the police arrest Max as he shifted back into David Harewood just in time. Classic trap! Then an investigation would follow and reveal his shady doings and such. Day saved.

I like seeing Hank being a little more open about who he is. Normally in shows that would be covered up for weeks after the reveal as a ongoing cliffhanger about him.

I brought one very important thing away with me this episode, and that is that whatever pizza place those two got that pizza from sucks. It didn't bend/fold at all, which implies they were eating cold (or just really crap) pizza. Tragic.

Yup. She ripped it in half like it was cardboard. No stringy cheese or grease, no flopping with bits falling on her top or sauce dripping. As comic book guy would say...Worst. Pizza. Ever!

Lucy: I want to know what you think.
James: (eventually) I think you should take the job, sweetie.
Lucy: (angrily?!) I'm not asking for your permission, bitch. (ish) ......

I know I found that confusing too. Why ask what he thinks and then say she's not asking for his permission? rolleyes

It was obvious he was just telling her what he thought, and not giving her permission.

TBH her character is poorly written and I agree with the other poster that she has been shoe horned in, especially as a 'Lane', which she didn't need to be.

They did say Kara was late as she had been flying around to clear her head so maybe it did just go cold?

Also Alex talked about what Hank did so Max Lord also heard that so knows who broke in and he's not Human (or is at least a Meta Human)

Good pizza doesn't bend/fold. That would break the crust.

Yeah totally agree, that whole scene was just WTF ish from start to finish and lots of the reviewers have picked up on it as well. It escalated into something which wasn't really a conflict at all and for no real purpose other than artificial drama.

I just wish there wasn't all this drama in the show. It feels so... unnatural.

If I wanted drama I'd watch Ally McBeal.

The worst part of the show is the romance BS.

Is anyone interested in Winn having feelings for Kara or Kara having feelings for Jimmy? Or in Lucy doing.... anything?

Thought the mind wipe was a little casual for how brutal it turned out to be in its impact....and then for it to be a waste of time anyway.

Still I suppose it sets the scene for how Lord will get his.

Slightly down for me from recent episodes as they got into the romance piece again and I'm not the target audience for that guff.

Still fun though.,,liked the flying scene at the beginning.

Wasn't that the point of it though? That Hank didn't want to do it because he knew the devastating effect it would have?

Wonder what Lord is making with that Girl IMO it's either Cyborg Supergirl and that's why they gave the Hank swerve or Bizarro (Clone/Lookalike) Supergirl.

I wasn't being very clear, sorry. I meant that, in the circumstances did it really feel that necessary to do that to some low grade security guy ? It was akin to killing him.

OFGS, Blake Jenner is in the show. Could there be more nepotism in the show?

He spoilt Glee, now he is spoiling Supergirl.

And now Holocaust analogies.

Wow, for the first time since the show began we have the bad outweighing the good massively.

Moralising at every turn and some really appalling dialogue.

The Holocast analogy was embarrassing in its ham fistedness.

Hank Henshaw (Harewood) showed the limits of his acting ability.

Kara breaks off her search for a killer Martian to attend to Cat.

The senator does the stupidest turnaround ever seen anywhere...what did she learn about Supergirl that she didn't know before this fracas.

Fight scenes were dreadful and confused and Kara was totally ineffectual.

The only things that made me smile were Benoists little characterisms, the rest of this episode was utter dross.

Oh and well done for adding another character in to the love hexagon or whatever geometric shape that nonsense is at now.

It makes me so :-

I forgot to mention how bad the fight scenes were, especially the one at the end.

I really don't get how her strength works. Even if the White Martians are strong, you'd think that being punched by Supergirl would take their heads off.

But the choreography was really poor too.

The tangled web of romances is screwing up what is otherwise a decent comic book series. We're now even having love squares.

Fully agree with Eggshell.

Winn is going to be seriously pissed off when he finds out about the date.

Doesn't Cat have a younger son too? No mention of him, you'd think it would be nice to meet his older brother.

And the tall building (actually LA City Hall) near where they had the political rally was the same one used as the Daily Planet building in the 1950s Adventures of Superman.

Just watched now and I didn't think it was that bad, but it was one of the poorer episodes of the season simply because it was way too heavy handed.

I get what they were trying to portray - the idea of having to go on from such a tragedy and finding yourself alone in the universe, family and loss etc - it just wasn't done very well because they laid it on with a trowel.

The second theme running through, of regret, was much better handled I thought and I actually don't mind Blake Jenner's Adam, he brings a new dynamic to Cat's relationships and we see another layer beneath her hard brittle exterior.

The political rhetoric was overblown and too full of trite cliches but, again, I can see where they were trying to go with it. It just all went a complete 180 way too fast. The Senator continuing their vendetta against aliens would have worked better for me, yes she can see the good in Supergirl but the threat from other planets still remains.

Fight scenes were utter toss this week, definitely agree with everyone there. Apart from the one in the DEO, which I thought they actually did really well.
The sky fight was so badly lit you could hardly see what was going on which is odd when you consider how well they handled Kara's fight with Astra I guess the White Martian budget for CGI wasn't quite so much.

But, I do like their little ending bits with the sisters on the sofa discussing their "real world" problems and looking forward to next week and seeing
Spoiler

It's a 6 out of 10 for me this week although interestingly most of the critic sites have given it good reviews.
