There was a time a few episodes back, when this show really felt on the up.
Now it's sunk back to how wrong it felt in the early days. They're trying to give it emotional heft but everything is just so daft that you're left shaking your head in disbelief. The Jimmy love nonsense drones on. Adam and Cat have no questions on why anybody would fly off with Kara. We're supposed to care about Kara/Adam after two episodes. The Bizarro story, as told in this twee world, was just so so predictable. The fights were shocking. I have no sense of the physics involved when two girls who can punch through mountains can stand there punching each other...it just looks wrong. Maxwell Lord ....panto villain. Oh and best of all the DEO is now Guantanamo Bay. Oh and next episode is the done to death, stuck in my own mind Schlick...Smallville already did it, not to mention Red Dwarf. |

They definitely didn't get it right this week in their "Kara's worklife mirroring Supergirl's experiences" story telling narrative.
Her bonding with Cat because of Adam didn't really work because not enough ground work had been done as to why we should care about him as a character and they didn't give Kara enough of wanting to just be "normal" for it to have an effect when that chance was taken from her. However, what I did like was the whole opposites element they had running through not only from Bizarro's powers but to Cat's rationale behind why Kara had given up on Adam - that she was putting herself first - when the audience knows she's actually putting herself and her feelings last. The sense of self and sense of place and belonging between Kara and Bizarro were also a bit off and all tied up too neatly at the end although I thought the characterisation of Bizarro as a relative newborn accepting what she's told through Maxwell Lord's subtle brainwashing did work well. And, speaking of Lord, that was the best bit of the episode for me and they could have a very interesting story line to follow there with just what do they do with a billionaire businessman who is also a bit of a second rate villain but who hasn't actually done anything really bad yet. He's always been a poor man's Lex Luthor in this show and I wish they'd followed his comic book origins a bit more closely. Next week's looks dreadful on the promos so I'm hoping that improves and I'm completely ignoring all the ridiculous "love interest" crap the episode had so it's a 6 out of 10. One of those was a bonus point for the first official showing of Blue Kryptonite

I wish they'd stop with all the romance BS.
Does anyone care about the Winn/Kara/Jimmy/Lucy/Adam love... pentagon? *Anyone*? And, as mentioned above by eggshell, why no "WTF?!" about Kara being kidnapped by Bizzaro? And WTF is up with Lord anyway? His parents died due to government health and safety failings (IIRC?), so he has an irrational hatred of Supergirl and wants to replace her with his own puppet? |

Just watched the promo for next week... Trapped in a dream world?! Seriously?! That is one of the absolute *worst* tropes to use*
![]() * (And yet writers continue to use it, repeatedly, sometimes substituting a dream world for some kind of computer world.) |

TBF on next weeks ep Black Mercy is from the comics (For the Man Who Has Everything) and works the same way.
Wonder if they will introduce
Spoiler
Funny enough I just watched JLA cartoon last week and it was this story. |

After a promising start, this show is fast losing my attention.
Poor script, silly romances, confusing story lines which aren't allowed to develop etc... Can't wait for Gotham to return on February 28th. |

Can someone explain this to me:
"Supergirl also fell three-tenths of a point to 1.5 (6.68m) at 8pm on CBS." Know I know that's ratings, but what does it mean? I know Lucifer got 2.0... Explain? |

I think I'm done with this show. There was a lot of potential since launch, but it's just slowly falling apart. I'm sick of the love triangle (or is it a square now?), I'm tired of the poor CGI, poor casting, and poor acting, and the hypocrisy of some of the actors.
I had high hopes for Manhunter too, but I can't see much more on him coming about anytime soon; I'll wait for his appearance within the DCCU I guess. That's three shows I've signed off on this year. Shanara and Shadowhunters being the other two. I hope there wont be a fourth. |

It's the key demographics which are important to US advertisers - people aged between 18 and 49. It means the number of people watching in the 18-49 demo dropped down to 1.5. I think it's out of a max of 10 but can't remember 100%.
And live viewing figures were 6.68m. Interestingly, most review sites were in favour of the episode and praised it, can't remember which one hated it, think it was IGN. I remember when Smallville was 0.9s and lower - yet that still kept on coming season after woeful season. I just wish the people who had The Flash had Supergirl. They really know to make a show. These new people - not so much. Sad. |

THANKS. That's useful. Sounds like 1.5 isn't hideous, but it's getting near the cancellation zone.

![]() they've been scathing as well, their coverage has been pretty fairly accurate of other peoples' views I've found and usually reflected in the comments on their various sites. I don't think any of reviewing sites has been unfailingly positive through, they've all been pretty critical at times too.Quote:

They've been talking about it since Supergirl started so I don't think it's anything to do with the show "failing". When they did the original promos for Supergirl they all had Grant Gustin in them as well along the lines of "from the stable that brought you The Flash" etc.
Still, this is a blatant viewer boost. They (the producers) were reluctant to do the crossovers at first I thought, because their wanted to focus the story on Kara and the Supergirl stuff, then all of a sudden, "it's shit, we're not doing as well as we thought we would, lets bring in Flash". Unless new writers (and a better FX team) can be brought it, Supergirl wont make it past season 2. |

I hope, at least for continuity sake, that Supergirl is on like, Earth 3 or something, else why hasn't there ever been any referenced to caped superheroes flying around?

They said at the start of Supergirl that they wanted to do a crossover with The Flash so I don't think the fact it's happening in the March 28th episode is for show ratings and more that it's taken them that long to sort out the logistics of filming it. The Flash shoots in Vancouver whereas Supergirl films in LA.
I'm expecting it to be an Earth-2 storyline though rather than the existing The Flash timeline. I wouldn't be shocked if they already had a script ready just in case. I think it will be Earth 3 as in the first ep Kara said she and Superman were the only 2 Superheroes on Earth. |

If the old showrunner has left maybe we'll get some good script from now on.
They really need to reboot the show to give it any real chance of longevity. But I don't believe for a second this Flash Supergirl crossover hasn't been planned since the start. |

"After week on week disaster, Barry Allen AKA The Flash speeds his way to National City to help boost ratings" OK, I don't watch Supergirl. I did watch the pilot; 'twas a meh. It was way too annoyingly girly for me, and it merely compounded the patronising idea that a show called SuperGIRL (Ugh! how I hate that title!) had to be all girly, fluffy and pink and painting every misplaced stereotype about womanhood (because Kara is a woman not a girrl). Still I wanted to know what others who are actually watching it thought about (you die-hard hardcore Marvel/DC fans who would know much more than me! ), and whether I have been too harsh a critic . It doesn't look like it is going down well : love, romance and triangles - hmmm, because that about sums up what being a (super) woman/girl is about? The male heroes' stories don't get bogged down with that much losh.![]() Anyway, I'm just picking out the stuff that I know what irritate the hell out of me. So maybe I'll catch it out properly when I utterly bored and have literally nothing to do. But from the posts on here it kind of sounds like a silly show for tweenies I don't know.![]() I love The Flash though. But I'm not sure if Barry's cross-over would entice me to tune in. And I doubt it would disturb what's going on in The Flash Universe anyway. So what would be the point? Oh, yeah, ratings ![]() PS: Is Kara's city really called "National City"? Sounds a bit, er, lame?

I'm about to give in too. The show had an innocent charm to start with but seeing Benoit in a short skirt every week isn't enough to save the terrible writing, acting and production. You always have to suspend a lot of disbelief with shows like this but the pseudo-science in this week's episode nearly had me throwing things at the TV. What on earth is "If its atomic structure is making Bizarro stronger, reversing its ionic charge should have an oppositional effect" supposed to mean?!
It means they have the technology to reverse engineer Kraptonite and create something with an opposite ionic charge, which will harm Bizarro (and presumably strengthen Kara, or am I not allowed to go there?). Honestly, it's all there in the script - you just need to listen ![]() ![]() ![]()
