Some people seem to take great pleasure in knocking him and saying how bad he is at dancing and giving the impression they know him from the old days of competition. It is nice to know they still follow his career, but could some of these posters be knocking Anton because he has made it onto our TVs and sadly they never quite got that far.

Why is it we live in a society where we easily put people on a pedestal and then take great pleasure in knocking them off again.”

Yes, every series the Anton knockers come out - has anyone referred to him as Tony Beak yet? I don't bother responding to the Anton bashers anymore because it just encourages them to up the anti. They are entitled to their opinion, but not interested in reading the same old same ...............

And it's Katie that the judges are scoring - not Anton.

He should have been wearing an all-in-one which would have enhanced the movements and made the dance look a lot more fluid.”

NOOOOOOOOO! None of the men look good in an all in one,

Actually, I think the spread of opinion over there is fairly evenly spread, but we all know that most people still don't comment on sites on the internet - none of my friends use message boards etc and they all like Anton.

The people that I know want an entertainment show and just want to watch enjoyable dances and people enjoying them. Anton (and others) provide that

That's me! I don't have the expertise to judge how good or bad they are technically, but I know what entertains me - I really liked watching Anton & Katie as it was so much fun. I also really enjoyed Ainsley's jive for the same reason, he shouldn't have gone. It should have been Jeremy because he didn't entertain me.

Let's be real i think Anton himself knows he is crap as most of those latin dances. I doubt he will be offended

Oh yes they have!! I wish I cold be as good as you and not respond but I can't help it. I must try harder. He is entertaining and a lot of people follow him because of his entertainment. But it does get a bit much doesn't it to read the constant knocking.

I agree that Erin's latin was also poor - even I as a non-dancer could tell that. The difference was in their attitude, though. Unlike Anton, Erin at least made an effort; Anton isn't even willing to do that.

Ann Widdecombe's were so big she had to walk lop-sided.

I don't fall into Anton 'knocker' camp, I think he's a great character and a lovely ballroom dancer but just having looked back at the salsa it's blatantly obvious the choreography was seriously lacking. The first half seemed to have some basic salsa steps (what do I know!) but he reverted to gimicky lifts in the second that he would have given a much less able dancer to hide their shortcomings. Katie is obviously not the best latin dancer (she looks a bit prancing pony) but I think a different pro would have got her moving a lot better. I don't think Anton can get her to the final the way he's going.

She might have been better if her teacher could, well, teach her. Anton doing a joke routine shows that he gave up on that one, reason being he can't do better himself.

In that last lift Anton clearly spun Katie round too many times, then when he put her down it looked like they were in the wrong place in the music to pick up the choreography, which I think is why they both stood there doing nothing for a bit, before Anton hammed in a ropey ending.

I didn't really have a problem with the choreography with this one, except for Anton's 'improv' at the end - there were plenty of steps which gave the opportunity for Katie to show at least good basic technique. Thing is I very much doubt Anton bothered to teach her any. Mind you I found him embarrassing to watch in that salsa.

Listening to Kristina on ITT last night and then watched it back for the first time and it goes pretty well until halfway through, when Kristina reckoned Katie forgot the last spin into the lift. After that things started to crumble, and the last lift looks to me as if she should have been offering her left leg for it, doesn't and he has to just pick her up. It's a shame as up to the first mistake it goes ok.

Yes that was interesting from Kristina, maybe the choreography codge-up wasn't down to Anton.

I still think he would have been of minimal help in training Katie in salsa technique, as he had very little himself!

I am dreading their paso this weekend, at Halloween as well, Anton is only going to play it for laughs. Hoping to be proved wrong!

I like Anton becuase i find him funny. But as a lot have said his Latin really isnt up to scratch with his ballroom. i thought a bit about it but this year it is so evident and anyone who doesnt think the same is basically blind

Thank you for saying (as a relative new poster) what the rest of us can't seem to say without having an agenda.

thats fine. Basically Katie can only do what Anton gives her and since he cant do latin this isnt a lot and thats why her latin will be lower than ballroom. I remember in the Paso that Fiona had to push him through as he forgot his own steps. thats when i realised it was awful. also when he just did comedy with Ann Widdicombe. this was the case cos neither could dance latin. Lke the fact you apreciate the view i am putting across

Anton is great at ballroom. But the fact he hardly/never performs the pro Latin dances amymore, usually just appears somewhere randomly in the back-ground also makes it obvious he does not like/can't perform Latin to the standard of the other pros on the show.

Totally agree with this comment.Anton is a great ballroom dancer/teacher but his Latin choreography is absolutely dire! Is another male pro able to assist in any way?
