X factor not actually losing in ratings

The report says that the x factor is gaining around 3 millions in catch up viewers due to the younger demographic preferring this, taking them to 9-10 million viewers in general! What do we think?

my opinion is I hate the full rating battle thing! who cares each show is about different things so why do we care how many viewers one brings in compared to the other so they have bragging rights, no one gives a **** if one gets more :P

Complete rubbish. Maybe if you add in all the repeats, etc. but then do the same for Strictly and it'll leapfrog it again

Those hoping for a cancellation next year are in for a shock. A show that consolidates 9m+ viewers isn't going anywhere, regardless of how it's spun.

Just checked, X Factor didn't even air on Saturday October 3

It's even getting hammered now by Countryfile, LOL. Time to pull the plug before it gets even more embarrasing.

9 million consolidated is embarrassing? OK then. I'd love to see what figures you think as amazing.

Rating only matter to advertisers, and the fact that the younger generation are still tuning in on catch-up won't matter much to them when it means they'll all be skipping the ads. They aren't going to shell out anywhere near as much for an advertising slot if no one's watching. The X Factors main revenue stream is dwindling, so producers should still definitely be worried.

Looking into the 9.01 million figure on October 3 I can't seem to confirm it.

Looking on Barb for Oct 4 (I assume that's what they meant), we get 6.666 for ITV + 1.655 for ITV HD + 0.248 for ITV+1 = 8.7

So we have a made up episode on a Saturday and apparently made up figures?

Advertisers are not going to care about someone watching after recording a show as they'll always skip through the ads.

Do people not understand the main point of ratings is for advertisers and if people are recording XF and skipping ads that doesn't benefit the advertisers. The only saviour for XF is advertisers can't jump to SCD because of the BBC not having adverts. But if advertisers start to wane the costs of this monstrosity can't be maintained by ITV.

The latest consolidated is 9.011m.

What are SCD and Countryfile consolidated figures? The fact is people have deserted it in droves. Cowell made a issue at the start of the series that he was confident that he would beat Peter Andre and SCD now he is getting hammered the figures no longer matter.

That is the other problem, SCD isn't obsessed with the ratings publicaly like Cowell is. Remember all his bull about XF USA and how anything less than 11 million would be a flop and it did flop and he tried to claim FOX were happy with its poor ratings.

DS must be getting paid for these articles. What a load of BS!

Strictly is only 1-2million ahead of x factor in consolidation ratings. Its all on the ratings thread.

Countyfile is all old scewing programme, younger viewers probably tend to catch up on x factor.

The irony of starting a thread about ratings then declaring 'who cares about ratings?'. Well, um...you, clearly.

The writer is just confused. She is comparing a Strictly Results show (neither Strictly nor X factor results shows timeshift much) with a 2 hour main episode of the X factor. The main episode that weekend for strictly had over 11m viewers and actually more people "catched up" with strictly via Iplayer and pvr than X Factor
Also Cowell"s comments are hilariously delusional. Talk about denial.

Strictly consolidates better than X Factor. The gap will be 3m at least when this weeks consolidated figures are released. Also consolidated ratings mean nothing to advertisers.

Also if it is getting "2 or 3 million" watching on catch-up, why hasn't anyone from the production company or ITV ever made mention of this before?

A case of a commercial TV station not liking to boast? Seems unlikely, doesn't it?

If there was even a slight chance of that being true then it would have been subject to endless official press releases from either the production company and/or the channel itself. Yet the information only emerges from a quote in an interview given to DigitalSpy.

Actually, ITV player requires you to disable adblock. It probably is possible to bypass, but most people watching don't have the knowledge to do so (plus I've done a few searches and haven't found anything).
Also, watching it on ITV player is pretty much like watching it on TV. Ads play at the beginning and in-between every break.
