I have to agree about The Tide Is High, I don't dislike it by any means but it is their most 'novelty' single and I can see why that factor hugely helped getting it to number 1.

As an underrated single, I think War Child deserves more plaudits. Their star was on the wane in the UK (previous single 'Island Of Lost Souls' - TTIH part 2 - didn't make the top 10), but it has one of my favourite openings ever.

I also love Danceaway - which David Bowie seemingly has not ever acknowledged ripping off for Modern Love.

I'd second that. I thought it was a great song and much better than 'Island of...'. Fantastic drumming from Clem Burke, particularly on the 12" version. I don't think they made a video for this one which might have also contributed to its poor chart performance.

"In The Flesh" and "Fade Away and Radiate" (the former being a single) and "Do The Dark" are a few strong offerings I don't hear much. Gary Valentine's "Presence, Dear" is a highlight amongst their singles I feel.

"The Tide is High" is okay I guess until you hear The Paragons. I gave up after Autoamerican.

I loved The Tide is High, mainly for its arrangement and the drumming. It always brings a smile to my face whenever I hear it.

Correctly rated as brilliant:
Maria
Atomic
Hanging on the Telephone

Overrated:
Rapture (awful melody for a punk band)

Underrated:
One Way or Another
Picture This

"Discovered" Blondie live when Maria shot to number one and we happened to be at Party in the Park. Seen Blondie live many times since but the performance in the intimate atmosphere of the Shepherd's Bush Empire was the best because of the warmth from the audience, the perfect acoustics and the way the band fed off the audience.

Wish we had been at Glastonbury. Had to settle for Guildford.

Pop videos do not do Blondie justice. They are one of the few truly great live bands.

I agree with the poster who said Sunday Girl never gets talked about as much as the other No. 1's. A lovely vocal by Debbie and an old school feel.

I was a big Blondie fan in their heyday but The Tide Is High totally unmoved me so I would say that's the most over-rated.

I've always had a love of "I Know But I Don't Know" which I think might have been the B side of Sunday Girl.
