He must be one of the worst actors in EE history.

Honestly the snobbery here is a joke. Why dont you give acting a go? It must be hard for actors to read that their not liked.

I think he's decent and he's very good as Christine. We've had the likes of Tyler, Anthony and joey and he's deemed worst actor in Eastenders ever.

Acting is a very subjective thing, who's a good actor? Brad Pitt who plays brad Pitt ( very well I might add) in dozens of films with little difference between his Angel of death (meet joe black) honest vampire ( interview with a vampire) or mr smith, he's just good looking and directed well,

Who's a terrible actor. Someone who's a character player in there 60s taking on the role of a cross dresser, ok he's not Brad, but who is, just some people we want to believe in and some we don't and that's individual, are you sure that it's just not Les you don't like?

He's not bad at all. All three Cokers are really coming into their own recently imo

i quite like him. he's bit wooden, and i think the part calls for him to be that, after all he's an undertaker no seriously i think he plays a very good part and he's convincing as someone who's a bit mixed up and can't be himself, stuck in a job that requires him to be respectful and at times morose at work and in front of the community. I get this storyline completely. I also think the fact they have paired him to some degree with Billy works as well, both a bit wooden.

Fair point, there's actors who other people like that I think aren't much cop and those that I like that get criticism. Horses for courses.

I agree and I think he is perfectly acceptable as a soap actor and like Jimbo said it's very subjective

That's how he speaks. He can't help that!

I disagree too. He's pulled off some of the hardest scenes in EastEnders for a while just lately.

He is bloody awful. Hammy is too kind a word. He acts like a drunk Kenneth Williams. He is simply appalling !

He's a bit OTT, but I find Paul much worse. All he does is talk monotonously and grin.

Definitely subjective though.

Couldn't disagree more with the OP.

ROFL!!! Well when you put it like that ....

Acting is a very subjective thing, who's a good actor? Brad Pitt who plays brad Pitt ( very well I might add) in dozens of films with little difference between his Angel of death (meet joe black) honest vampire ( interview with a vampire) or mr smith, he's just good looking and directed well,

Great post.

I agree with this too. I never thought Kathy's return would be a B list storyline for me and I'd be much more interested iin the Cokers - but I am

He managed to pull off one of the best s/l this year.....he must be doing something right.
Spot on. I think he's been told to play Les as a loud, OTT person so the difference between him and Christine really stands out. But look at Les last night when he was telling Paul about his dad? A much more stripped back performance which made it much more effective, he was talking from the heart and it showed. I think Roger Sloman's really good and total respect to him for how good he was playing Christine, not many actors could pull that off without it becoming a joke (which I think many people thought it would be as you'd never have thought he'd make a convincing woman!)

That's how he speaks. He can't help that!

I disagree too. He's pulled off some of the hardest scenes in EastEnders for a while just lately.
Yes, not a lot he can do about his voice but I think it's very distinctive.

He's an ok actor. Bit dodgy in parts but having seen him in other roles, he is far from an appalling actor.

Roger Sloman is great. He's a fantastic comedy actor aswell as proven in The Young Ones and Bottom. I really like the Cokers.

I disagree OP. I thought he was OK but not the best before the Christine story but when he was given that material I thought he was great, Pam as well. Hats off to him.
