Well, it's not rumba or waltz slow or anything. Plus it has a decent beat underneath it.

Don't know if the dance itself is a good choice. In a way, it's difficult to shine (probably no sexy dress like in the cha cha) and probably the dance which will suit her the least. On the other hand. survive this week and party latin is gone (out of the window).

Assuming the producers did skip a latin dance for her, it will probably be either rumba or paso (hopefully the rumba).
The walks and rolls could be good, in line with the music - but hip-action-wise, the moves will look maybe over deliberate and slow, not invoking the party vibe of the samba. Hopefully it'll be sped up just a tad. It's a poo song and poo dance for Helen, but I think there she'll be safe with 32/40.

Ian Waite answered a question on ITT this week by stating samba is the hardest dance to teach a celebrity. Apparently he taught Zoe the double bounce action/basic footwork for two days solid, and hers is probably one of the best sambas. Take heed, Aljaz. 😎

Kevin will be anyway .. they won't have to do much to make him look like HP .. but as it's a paso I'm imagining Kellie will be something from the dark side. Or Harry and Hermione will look like they're fighting each other!

Most songs are good I think.
They just have to put one of them in slytherin colours and one in gryffindor (my geek is showing isn't it?)

Take Your Mama might work as a samba, but for a Hallowe'en-themed dance is baffling. It's a song about coming out as gay to your less-than-accepting parents. I'm lost as to what's Hallowe'en-y about that.

Turns out Carol's song is the one I think it is... has anyone been thrown under the bus harder? Unless you're planning to acoustify it, how is even a competent dancer meant to dance to that?

Yeah, not looking like a classic Hallowe'en night this year, is it?
I'm guessing there'll be a very tenuous link between Take Your Mama and mummies. That's the level of logic I've grown to expect from this show.

(Carol's song... I'm not even going to begin to try make sense of it)

It contains the line "so what am I so afraid of".

Afraid = frightened = Halloween song choice.

How much do you want to bet they'll be dressed as Mummies

Hedwig's theme is a viennese waltz not a paso though.

urghhh no to so many of these choices. Phantom of the opera is not a good song to dance to despite the countless people trying to do tangos and paso dobles to it. I love the song and I love the musical but no....

Ah yes! I was thinking Kellie might go for the leather/lace corset look of Bellatrix .. with black curly wig and black teeth

I think Hedwigs theme might just be used as an intro going into Schools Out?

Here they are:

[SPOILER}Anita and Gleb are dancing a wicked Waltz to Once Upon A Dream by Lana Del Rey

Carol and Pasha are dancing a rattling Rumba to I Think I Love You by The Partridge Family

Georgia and Giovanni are doing a terrifying Tango to Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Junior

Jamelia and Tristan are dancing a jeepers-creepers Jive to The Time Warp from the Rocky Horror Picture Show

Jay and Aliona are dancing a scary American Smooth to Lil Red Riding Hood by Sam the Sham and The Pharaohs

Jeremy and Karen are doing a spooky Salsa to Thriller by Michael Jackson

Helen and Aljaz are dancing a spine-tingling Samba to Take Your Mama by Scissor Sisters

Katie and Anton are dancing a petrifying Paso to Phantom Of The Opera by Steve Harley and Sarah Brightman

Kellie and Kevin are dancing a paranormal Paso to Schools Out by Glee Cast and Hedwig's Theme by John Williams

Kirsty and Brendan are dancing a teeth-chattering Charleston to Bad Romance by Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox

And last, but by no means least, Peter and Janette are dancing a phantom Foxtrot to Ghost by Ella Henderson][/spoiler]
Ugh! This sounds pretty much unwatchable (with the awful Halloween theme running through as well)

Will give this one a miss I think. See you all next week.

I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of this beautiful moment from the last time Anton danced the Paso Doble on Halloween:

Ha ha ha ha ha!

Not only did I watch that and laugh but i rewound it and watched the whole thing.

The brilliance is how she looks like she's suffering her way through it, humouring her toddler child.

Well, guess how much this dance got (for the record, she was my favourite that year, but a worse latin dancer):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8G3q8q2Ylk

And this was week 3 even and a worse song to dance a Samba to.

Unless she totally freezes, it should always be at least 30 points (which should put it in the top 5, can only see Jay and Anita as the clear top 2; and I can't see both paso's scoring highly).

Poor Sophie, some of her latin dances were truly terribad (the sexy lobster jive in particular brings the horror roaring back) but you are right, Helen is a much better latin dancer - her salsa alone proves that - she is so much less inhibited. An awkward dance this week coming at not-so-awkward a time (with so many couples left, she'd beat most in a dance off) is not so bad I guess.

Anita having waltz could go against her, much less flashy for Halloween - but I expect her to arrive in the top three or four without a doubt. Kellie a deciding factor in the rankings IMO.

Gah!
It's really saying something when DWTS, who had their Halloween night yesterday, have better music choices than us.* They also had a couple dancing to Lana del rey...they were eliminated. There are lots of decent songs not used yet, Halloween Song suggestion thread has many used on neither show and some from DWTS werewolves of London, black widow, abracadabra, Heads will roll, cry little sister, People are strange (the latter two used yesterday) could have been used. Take your mummy out tonight? I think I love you so what am I so afraid of? I assume these two are bring used for shits n giggles and hope wardrobe have something up their sleeve. Carol as a female Frankenstein? Aljaz dancing in bandages? Drink! Adds copious amounts of cider to shopping list. Don't even get me started on a ghostbustingTango, it isn't likely to make me feel good and who am I gonna Call? - not Team GG on the back of that.
https://m.youtube.com/?hl=en-GB&gl=G...?v=cRzmv_yWoX4 Lana del rey waltz, no idea why he is a Wolf and she isn't Malificent. But the knife was a clever Touch and he did not deserve to go yet (15 year old, amazing really).
*pretty sure marilyn manson would not go down well on the beeb, mind.

@BeyonceCastle

That just illustrates what a DWTS/SCD band can do to butcher a Lana Del Rey vocal. I'm slightly worried for Anita now.

I Think I Love You for a rumba?? Whaaat??!!
Same here! Puzzling! Only good thing about it is they are obviously going for romantic, rather than raunchy!

On second thoughts, thinking about the words, it's going to be some humorous nightmare story, isn't it?

I think that Carol has been given a horrible tune to dance to; The Partridge Family version has no rhythm or feel to it imo.

For me, this version by Perry Como is slightly better, &, to my ears at least, it has some bassline rhythm to it that might suit a rumba - but then i'm tone deaf to start with

Afraid = frightened = Halloween song choice.
Seeing as David Cassidy pretty much resembles a zombie nowadays I'd say it actually fits the theme perfectly.

One of the better dances for Halloween and the song is good and appropriate for dance and theme.

Carol and Pasha are dancing a rattling Rumba to I Think I Love You by The Partridge Family
I hope I don't offend anyone, but WTF??? Rumba and Halloween isn't necessarily a bad combo (though Abbey and Alijaz may think differently) but rumba and Carol? And with that song? I would not be surprised if either her voting is pretty low or they are trying to make it low.

Georgia and Giovanni are doing a terrifying Tango to Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Junior
Tango for Halloween, brilliant! To ghostbusters???? Poor GG

Jamelia and Tristan are dancing a jeepers-creepers Jive to The Time Warp from the Rocky Horror Picture Show

Good song for a jive, and perfect for Halloween.

Jay and Aliona are dancing a scary American Smooth to Lil Red Riding Hood by Sam the Sham and The Pharaohs

It could be good or a waste of the AS on a theme week. Some versions of the song are good.

Jeremy and Karen are doing a spooky Salsa to Thriller by Michael Jackson

Salsa to thriller on Halloween?

Helen and Aljaz are dancing a spine-tingling Samba to Take Your Mama by Scissor Sisters
Samba in Halloween? The song is also not very samba nor Halloween.

Katie and Anton are dancing a petrifying Paso to Phantom Of The Opera by Steve Harley and Sarah Brightman

Paso is great for Halloween and this song is both appropriate and fairly decent for a paso. However there was a good paso to this song. Kars and Artem so comparisons may happen for those fans of strictly.

Kellie and Kevin are dancing a paranormal Paso to Schools Out by Glee Cast and Hedwig's Theme by John Williams

Good song for Halloween not sure I see it as a paso, but it's one of the best dances conceptually to get for Halloween.

Kirsty and Brendan are dancing a teeth-chattering Charleston to Bad Romance by Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox

Brilliant song adaptation for a charleston. Can Kirsty do it justice?

And last, but by no means least, Peter and Janette are dancing a phantom Foxtrot to Ghost by Ella Henderson

Foxtrot could be OK for Halloween, and the song is ok for a foxtrot. Not sure what has to do with Halloween.

I love Anita's choice - a classical Tchaikovsky waltz, with the Disney lyrics, and a dark twist - perhaps the best Halloween choice without being pantomime. I think Gleb's very contemporary choreography will lend itself really well to this piece. Kirsty and that Postmodern Jukebox song is the second best choice - amazing version of that song! However, I just don't see her pulling off a decent Charleston to any piece of music, so....!

I can't even figure out how they marry up Kelly's two songs - despite being a Glee fan, that rendition was in no way a radical departure from the original song, so why not credit it to the original artist, Alice Cooper? And mashing it with the rather quiet, tinkley Hedwig's theme - yeah, not sure where they're going with that one! Like others have said, I suspect there'll be very little of the Hedwig and a lot more of the Alice Cooper - but they'll use it as an excuse to do a Harry Potter themed dance. Am I allowed to say that I'm completely bored of Kevin's constant shtick of 'I'm a nerd, aren't I cute?' and both he and Kelly trying to act at least 15 years younger than they are?! Seriously, they're in their 30's! I suspect Kelly with another partner would have appealed to me much more - Brendan or Pasha perhaps would have allowed her to be an actual grown-up!

Just, the less said about Carol, a rumba and that song, is probably for the best! It makes Jeremy's Thriller salsa sound positively attractive!

Too many of those songs are unfamiliar. So I predict now that Jeremy/Karen will stay in because they got 'Thriller'.

Just my initial impression:
Gifts (you could sit on the steps in costume for half the dance and still get through): Harry Potter and Phantom.
Does a lot of work for them, in a good way: Thriller and Time Warp, where presumably they'll mainly do the famous dance with a little bit of the salsa or jive in between.
Safe, if a little boring in comparison to the above: Ghost
Not easy and really depends on how the band cope with them but could work: Lil Red Riding Hood, Once Upon a Dream, Bad Romance
Can't help feeling sorry for them: Take Your Mama, Ghostbusters, I think I love you.
