He was eliminated in week 2 in Series 4 singing 'Build Me Up Buttercup' - a song that didn't suit him at all.

![]() He was always a soul influenced singer and the fact he now seems to be doing vocals on a house track seems to point to that direction. |

My son was approached by MIH management based in LA to join their roster and Daniel Da Bourg was (or still is) signed to them, well impressed with him and although it is mainly covers there are a few covers that are absolutely superb, great haunting vocals.

Daniel was my favourite to win pre live shows, and then Build Me Up Buttercup happened...

![]() As the link in the OP shows, that was nothing like his style so it was a ridiculous route to send him down. But his mentor was Louis Walsh and he only knows 3 types of songs - Westlife style ballads sung on stools, gay disco glitterball karaoke or 1975 called, they want their style back. |

His exit is probably one of the earliest memories I have of blatant x-factor manipulation and fixing.
The 'sob story' was all the rage back then and Daniel's was being a single parent. Papers then printed something to do with his child's mother and he'd lied in some way, wasn't what he'd presented himself to be. The show blatantly threw him under the bus that week, shitty song choice and Sharon Osbourne at her most sneering and worst during her critique, "tell *mummy* how you think that went..." Ouch. |
