Yeah the original shot made it appear he was dumped. I don't see how he would manage steps with two broken limbs.

I think that because Margaret could see the affect it was having on Sharon, she phoned Gavin and put a stop to it. He got the heavies to dump Phil at the door because Sharon is his daughter and he doesn't want her hurting.

I would imagine that Gavin, or somebody working for him, has driven him back and pushed him out on the Square.

It probably became too difficult to keep him captive once they knew that Kathy had spoken out so the house they'd been keeping him in would be raided and they also knew he wouldn't be in a fit state to get back at them with all the broken bones, having become dependent on alcohol again and the mental trauma from whatever they've done to him. Plus, they've probably threatened even worse for him or his children (do,'t forget Louise or even Lexi) should he talk.

The way I see it, Gavin's done his work to Phil by hooking him on booze again, so now he's unleashed him back on the Mitchells to tear them apart.

Sharon has repeatedly said her dad is called Gavin. Phil gave her an address to see her dad and he lives in Notting Hill. Kathy's husband has a house in Notting Hill. Margaret recently phoned someone on Monday and said "it's gone too far. She's here". Suddenly Phil returned at the end of the episode. Gavin used to live in Walford and a photo revealed that he knew Den Watts. A few months ago, Sharon found out that her real dad used to be friends to Den.

That's pretty much confirmation that Gavin is Sharon's dad and I think it will be revealed on Friday.

This. Gavin has broken Phil in more ways than one so he was finished with him and just dumped him back home.

A lot of circumstantial evidence.

We have known since sharon found her birth Mum over 25 years ago that her Dad's name was Gavin

We know that it was a private adoption and Den knew the biological father.

We know that Kathy's Gavin and Den knew each other due to a photo they showed a few weeks ago.

We know that Gavin was keeping Phil at his sisters house in Notting Hill and his sister identified their bodies for the fake death. We saw Margaret get a phone call on Monday which seemed to link in to her house having been raided.

The same house Phil told sharon her Dad lived in a few months ago.

It is basically connect thee dots so we could be wrong but it seems unlikely.

Thanks- completely forgot about those clues.

it's interesting that Gavin and Den knew each other.

Charlie Slater brought him back in his taxi... Honestly don't know how he managed to get back from Notting hill to Watford maybe Gavin had someone dump him outside the house.

I agree with this.

I think it would damage Phil's character if he had been done like some of the other threads have suggested.

I think he was tortured and force fed drugs/alcohol to the point he became dependent on it. But who knows? His reaction last night would indicate its far worse

I wonder if there was ever a long-term plan for Kathy's Gavin to be Sharon's biological father? Or if it was just a fortunate coincidence that the writers at the time of Kathy's move to SA decided to call her partner's character Gavin? I suspect the latter.

He found one of Terry Spraggan's old taxi cards and decided to play his luck and risk it. It worked. Good old Terry came all the way from MK to London just to give our beloved Phil a trip back to Albert Square.

I don't know if it's a coincidence but Kathy's husband has always been called Gavin. She wrote a letter to Phil in 2001 saying she met a man called Gavin and asked Phil for a divorce. I reckon Kathy's Gavin was always going to join the show but when they realised that Sharon's dad is also called Gavin, they decided he must be Sharon's dad. I like the way they did it so it doesn't feel like a "retcon".

Also Sharon and Kathy are two of the most iconic female characters ever so my guess is that they wanted to make sure both characters have a connection. What a genius idea. Kathy and Sharon are my favourite (feuding) pair. I can imagine that Gillian Taylforth and Letitia Dean are loving Kathy and Sharon's new dynamic

That would make Kathy Sharon's stepmother as well as Ian's mom which is a nice parallel as Phil used to be Ian's stepdad when he was married to Kathy.

Only if she stays with Gavin...and that's not looking likely.

I love that they're step-'mother and step-daughter. Sharon's going to be horrified when she finds out that Kathy is her step-'mother

He was so high on crack/booze/whatever that he simply flew back to the Square on a magical owl.

Margaret's firm is also called M&G Solicitors so I suspect in full it's Margaret & Gavin Solicitors. Which sounds ridiculous but is just another little Easter Egg for eagle eyed viewers like us!
