Let's forget about Bupsi and the joke acts from previous years. In terms of talent, which years had more talented people? I would say 2008 and possibly 2011 - what do people think?

I think the year Alexandra Burke won had the most talent from what I remember.

I'd say 2008 and 2010. Both had real strength in depth, with acts like Laura,Austin and Aiden not even making top six. I think these years were really exciting to watch too, the live shows were really spectacular, especially 2010. Brian Friedman at his peak?

These halcyon days are long gone, I fear

I reckon this year's the best. Having both Louisa and Lauren in the girls category is like having 2 Leonas in one show and it's not like it ends there. They have 4th power for the groups which whilst I don't like them they are proving to be very popular and claimed to be the "best group ever" on the show. I think the boys is a particularly strong category this year, all 3 are talented in their own way. And don't get me started on the overs, I mean Anton...just wow!

I've tuned out of a lot of the previous x factors but because of the superior talent this year, I've tuned back in

2010 will always be my favorite year. Such a huge mix of diversity among the finalists. So many of them had potential to be huge stars. I don't think we'll ever see that again.

2008 and 2011 hands down.

2008 had the 5 strong females - Alexandra, Ruth, Diana, Laura and Rachel - as well as JLS and even Austin was pretty good.

2011 had the best final line-up to date with Little Mix, Marcus and Amelia all being entertaining acts and all rightly made the final. In addition to them, Misha, Janet (not my cup of tea but she was unique for XF), Kitty and The Risk.

This year is also looking to be promising (but it's too early to tell) with Alien, 4th Impact, Seann Miley Moore, Lauren, Louisa, Kiera, Mason and Anton.

I thought Amelia Lilly was much better than Little Mix still cannot believe they won. What about the one hit wonders who won James Arthur,Matt Cardle,.Ben Haenow Where are they now and then there are the ones who did not win such as JLS and Olly Murs Rebecca Ferguson and Ella Henderson. The best do not always win.

The previous years winner (2014) normally comes back to sing their latest singe on the first results show but have heard it will be either Little Mix or Ellie Goulding who will be singing does not say much for Ben Haenow and I thought Fleur East was better last year and she should have won.By the way where is Joe Mcelderry now.( Not sure of the spelling) another one hit wonder.

I actually like them too but they're not really the pinnacle of talent.

2014 had some good contestants but was sabotaged in favour of the more questionable final two for me personally like the 3rd, 4th, 7th, and 11th place people were sabotaged in my opinion to never compete with them, if they had've been allowed to then I believe that the series would've been seen as one of the higher years of talent as I think that it was definitely there but it was just a missed opportunity.

And of course 2008 and 2010 had some good technical acts as well.

Bit off-topic don't you think?

Lauren wasn't sabotaged. She was just dull. I think she was the producers' chosen one (or at least one of them) at one point but she just didn't deliver. When she was given something up-tempo to perform, she froze with panic about having to do a basic dance move. She clearly wasn't ready so instead was left singing ballads - with no vocal wow factor. She was lucky enough to finish 4th to be honest.

Lauren was the very definition of sabotaged in my opinion, bad song choices, unsuitable themes in the second half of the season, a kids song to sing, inconsistent styling, bad time slots despite being one of the more talented acts of the season, and bad VT's to try and distract from the fact that she was the only one experimenting with different song choices for the show (which I will take over bland safe acts any day of the week) and putting her with Cheryl was always gonna give her a detraction base no matter what she did.

And I don't think that anyone can deny that Jack was sabotaged, Straight Up and Bleeding Love in particular showed that they was gunning for him.

But yes sorry to go off topic here, but that last series really annoyed me with it's hatred of the subtle acts, or none shouty acts.

2008 by far the best year. Ruined by the boys category. Even I would choose Daniel (overs) over Eggnog (Irish lad who came 3rd...urgh!!!).

2008 is still the peak. And I'd say 2011 was a bit better as well. I kind of think 2012 actually has a lot of talent as well, but that season just went to complete crap due to song choices, bad early eliminations and the inability to be rid of other circumstances which may or not rhyme with Bristopher Baloney.

I still regard 2012 as possibly the worst ever series of X Factor. James became my favourite by default after Ella's elimination. The final 5 that year was a chore to watch.
