It's hard to pick one the best series have been these ones:
2008 (Series 5) - JLS, Diana, Laura & Austin
2009 (Series 6) - Joe, Olly, Stacey, Danyl, Jamie, Lucie
2010 (Series 7) - Matt, Rebecca, 1D, Cher, Aidan, Katie
2012 (Series 9) - James, Jahmene, Union J, Rylan, Ella, District 3
2014 (Series 11) - Ben, Lauren, Stereo Kicks, Only the Young, Paul, Jack

Out of all of them even though the ratings have drastically gone down I would say the strongest year has been last year because there was a variety of talent on the show. It is also my favourite because I loved Ben, Lauren, Stereo Kicks, Only the Young, Paul and Jack.

2010 for me. Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson, One Direction & Cher Llloyd. That is a strong line-up.

The last best series, imo, and luckily, the only time I managed to get a ticket to one of the live finals.

2008

Alexandra, Ruth, Diana, Laura, Rachel, JLS, Austin.

It was Cheryl's first year and she was really nice then & not stuck up her own and Simon's arse.

It was also the last year before they brought in rent a chav/mob for the live auditions and the last year the results were announced the same night. Now we have this drawn out, Sunday night, millions of adverts, acts plugging their singles, with a tiny filler of the results shoved at the end.

To say this show has run its course would be the biggest understatement of the year.

Using this years elimination process, am I right in thinking that she would have been eliminated early.

2008 - Best year so far.
2010 - A diverse year, strong singers and performers. Great top 3.
2005 - Very different bunch than you'd see now but most were competent singers
--------
2011 - Almost a strong year. Started off great but the manipulation undermined too many good acts and soured the talent that was there. Janet notably so.

2008. Ruth Lorenzo still rules supreme.

I'm aware it may be unethical to be pro manipulation but, in the case of 2011, I'm glad there was since Little Mix would've struggled to win if the producers just let the competition run naturally. I was a huge Marcus fan at the time but I still liked the idea of a group (and a girl-group at that) winning after so many years of the viewers wondering "can a group ever win?"

If each year was immune to producer manipulation, we would've had Eoghan win in 2008, possibly Mary win in 2010, Janet win in 2011, CHRISTOPHER MALONEY win in 2012, possibly Nicholas win in 2013 and Andrea win last year. That would be an even poorer record of winners than the actual list we have. Again, I know it's unethical since it should be a "fair" contest, but in my opinion female acts and more entertaining "up tempo" acts with a bit of originality have a more difficult time of securing votes than dull and uninspired male acts so it wouldn't be a fair contest anyway.

Is this pointing out how good or how bad each series was?

What if acts such as Laura White & Scott Bruton hadn't been sabotaged so early on? I can't even remember Scott but he was very close to Eoghan in week 1.

They probably wouldn't have let Maloney back in if he was a danger. Looking at the figures, I'd say Jahmene was up there but Ella was very close in the first week & I'd say, with the correct songs and maybe allowing her to sing her own compositions, she may well have won in her own right.

And don't forget all the manipulations before we even get to the lives.
Janet, Sam Bailey, Ella Henderson, Louisa etc were massively hyped before the lives, so would expect to top the vote in the first week.

Maybe, if they'd picked the best singers to start with, instead of a mixture of singers, characters and ringers, we would've had a completely different list of singers on the list who didn't even make the lives.

On the plus side. We would have escaped the existence of One Direction, Olly Murs and we'd have more outspoken personalities than the Syco robots we left with atm.

No, she was never bottom three in the voting results.

She actually was in week 7 (just above JLS and Rachel) but I doubt there would have been a double elimination that far into a series (although there might have been one in 2010 during week 7).

I actually wish I put a bet on Alexandra winning back then. I was backing her from her first audition and her odds must have lengthened during the whole "Diana" phase of the competition.

For me I would say Little Mix, Alexandra Burke and Ben Haenow years.

All finalists in these years were very talented and diverse.
