I read the spoilers but still watch although I agree the results show could be a fair bit shorter. Len's Lens is a waste of time as well of course!

Surely though, if the Beeb are worried about the viewing figures going down due to spoilers, they should do the blindingly obvious and broadcast the results show LIVE!

I'm almost tempted to check it out this week and see if he posts the results seconds after we get the spoiler here, but I don't want to boost his needy ego by contributing to his page views.

Maybe he could show his cajones and post the spoiler before we get it here, just to back up his self-appointed 'official spoileree' title?

I put notiifications on for him on Saturday, was refreshing in here and had just read AMs post and got the bleep from Twitter

Oh dear ... I guess he needs to compensate for some sense of failure by claiming responsibility for someone else's efforts. Pathetic.

The spoilers shouldn't matter too much . Yes there'll be few who say "Oh I know who goes now, so I'm not going to watch" , but personally I find that knowing just lets me focus more on the faces and emotions as Tess calls out the names . Knowing 'X' is safe makes me really feel for them when they look terribly worried (I'm mentally telling them it's ok ) . I like the result show, it's a nice balance of entertainment and pathos .

The absolute vast majority of the viewers if you asked them if the spoiler affects their viewing would say "what Spoiler?"

There are probably plenty who still think the Sunday show is live because Tess has different hair and dresses.

Dave actually credits the DS spoiler team and polices other Twitter feeds who spread the spoiler blanket fashion. So fair play to him. What he does offer is a spoiler source for all the people who do not visit DS.

I only looked at his post for the most recent elimination, but I only saw reference to his 'usual sources' or words to that effect. A previous poster quoted him as claiming to be the person 'responsible' for the Strictly spoiler. That doesn't seem like giving credit where it's due. If he is name-checking the DS spoiler providers it's not very apparent.

For me that is one of the few bits worth watching, although I agree they have become too cabaret. I preferred it when the dance element of the results show was Erin and Anton doing a beautiful waltz or similar.

It's the minutes spent watching a bunch of people standing in pools of light while Tess pauses far to long to create 'excitement' ( it doesn't!) before a light goes out. That isn't my idea of engaging TV content.

Absolutely. My sister thinks I provide the spoiler by some flash of ESP. She expects a text from me each Saturday night and never asks where to go to get it for herself.

The results show formula is very tired and needs a shake up. It could be 25 min tops, for starters, it's way too long. The singers/ bands could be a little more current, because quite frankly, who gives a toss for Rod Stewart these days? The geriatric pharmaceutical companies?

My sister would kill me if I told her the result. I can't look at the spoiler for fear of not being authentically shocked if a favourite is in peril.
I don't like the saved couples telling Claudia how relieved they are, that would seem blindingly obvious.
But I generally do like the pro dance and the singer, so I do always watch the results show.

I never watch the results show, it's painfully awful.

I just want the result and can do without all the prolonged suspense and rubbish filler.

I think the BBC will take the view that for years they've made two programmes out of what used to be one. The viewing figures for the Sunday programme are likely to be much greater than that of anything else they would usually schedule at that time. The cost of presenting the Sunday Strictly show, won't be that much as it's really part of the Saturday show.
They won't be bothered about the "effects" of spoilers, I mean how many read the ones on Digital Spy? A few hundreds at most.

The pro dances are the best part of Sunday's show.

Guys, please leave Dave alone - it really doesn't matter to what degree he does or does not acknowledge his 'source' - he does frequent the spoiler thread, & always says thanks - the spoiler thread regulars know who he is & that the spoiler thread is his source.

On week 1, he wasn't the only person to post the incorrect B2, everyone did because, **shock horror** the spoiler thread IS the go to spoiler source - for twitter & almost every other social media site, bookies etc., or they copy & paste Dave verbatim, claiming it as their own work, therefore getting their result from us by default!

As far as I am concerned, he acknowledges to the spoiler thread that we are his source, & so that is the most important thing - not that what I think is important in anyway, just my opinion.

As for spoilers reducing viewing figures - absolutely ridiculous.

I always have to find out the spoiler Saturday. ...I can't bear to wait till Sunday and by the same token I wouldn't miss the Sunday show for anything even when I already know the result

To watch the sheer terror and hopelessness of the pros and celebrities waiting for their names to be called is one of my highlights of the results show jk.

Knowing the spoiler prior to the results show don't dent the ratings.

Strictly don't play entirely fair either . They will not show any repeats of the show, thus forcing people to watch it live . They used to show a slimmed repeat on a Sunday when SCD started but not anymore .
Xfactor does show repeats .

I wonder if Xfactor only did one broadcast like SCD would they fare better in the ratings .

Boring singer
Cringeworthy interview with the 2 couples pre-dance off, and asking the judges what the couple needs to do to survive. Which is a daft question.

I used to FF through most of it. Now I find I FF through all of it, so there's no point watching.”

I agree it should be live.

You are, as ever, extremely gracious and generous, AM.

To me, for someone to claim that 'I am responsible for the Strictly spoiler' when their only involvement is copying it from someone else is a bare-faced lie. It would cost him nothing bar a few seconds of typing time to openly acknowledge that he copied and pasted the spoiler from someone who puts in an immense amount of time and effort. Sadly, he chooses not to do that.

Then the difficulty he has is the DS Spoiler thread is like his journalistic source. If he pointed that out on his blog he would lose his edge.

We Spoiler managers know he acknowledges the thread as the source & this is good enough for us.

I agree Monaogg, I have read Dave's posts as a long-time lurker on the Spoiler thread and enjoy the mutual respect he seems to have with Abigailsmum in their banter.

Methinks that if he publicly acknowledged his DS source on his blog, the BBC could decide to pursue the matter further and the Spoiler thread might have to be shut down

The BBC already know about the spoiler thread - I recall a couple of years ago it was mentioned in the pre-recording 'secrecy request' according to an audience mole.

There is nothing that they can do - the only people who would shut it down are DS themselves, & the only reason they would do that is if there are constant leaks of the result outside of the spoiler thread in other DS threads - hence the reminder not to allude to the result in anyway outside of the spoiler thread with each spoiler result post.

Love all of the newbies each week - it really is the nicest thread on DS - but then I am biased!!! xxx
