Firstly, it's worth pointing out that catwalk fashion is theatrical. What might look great on a catwalk would look ridiculous in day-to-day life.
Shape will play a part in what looks good on you; a lot of the clothes you see in the high street will be for a particular build. A jumpsuit looks great on a tall person but on a short person it would emphasise their shortness and would swamp them.
The best kind of clothes to wear are the ones that look great on you. That's what makes people want to copy others, because they envy the confidence that you have in wearing something that really suits you.
