Anyone else not really loving Louisa?

It's not surprising she's the current favourite to win but I just find her very beige so far. Her song choices have been incredibly uninspired too. She's got a very powerful voice but it lacks any character in my opinion. Anyone else feel the same?

I have to agree, I really struggle to 'get her' in the way that others do. It may be a powerful voice but it feels devoid of emotion to me. I don't feel anything when she sings and I connect with music on an emotional level.

She just shouts in my opinion, I know it's not a popular opinion but it's how she sounds to me.

I'm up for being proven wrong at the lives though like Lauren won me over last year with stuff like Happy and Don't You Worry Child, I'm hoping that Louisa will do the same, but I worry that if she stopped the shouting would she just get the dull tag like Kiera will get?

But yes basically I agree with you that I feel that she's overrated.

I feel the same way she is good but I haven't been wowed by her yet and don't like the songs she has picked either.

to me she is someone with a great voice but just doesn't seem to know how to use it yet and as a result i dont think her performances have really been as good as they should have been, or could have been

i agree with the comment about song choices as well , most of the stuff she has been doing is quite dated, great songs in their own right but no-one is going to beat aretha doing an aretha song in basically the same way

still prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt based on talent but needs to turn that into consistent performances come the lives or could go the same way as the likes of janet devlin and ella henderson. i know she is very different vocally and in style to both of those, what i mean by the comparison is they were also acts who got alot of hype and expectation placed on them after great early performances but then never lived up to thet hype come the live shows. their vote held up for awhile as people were willing to be patient with them based on the potential they had shown but eventually that support tailed off when they continued to give fairly mediocre performances in the lives.

its good building early support and that support will stay loyal for awhile but not indefinitely

If we look at her song choices so far:

Who's Loving You - performed by Andrea last year, Miss Frank in 2009.
And I Am Telling You... - performed by Rachel in 2008, Danyl in 2009, Sam Bailey in 2013 and many many more.
Respect - Miss Frank in 2009, Misha B in 2011 and probably loads more.

The fact that she has chosen these songs herself indicates that she has no direction as an artist and is just singing the classic XF songs.

Yes she is one of the best vocalist... but she come across as a shy girl... hopefully she blossoms like Leona.

Best of the girls, but she doesn't know how to use her voice. She just shouts. Also hasn't shown what type of artist she would be at all.

I guess it all depends on whether you enjoy soul music or not. I love it, and really enjoy it, but if you prefer other genres then you probbly wont enjoy her style of music.

She has an amazing voice. However, I also am struggling to really like her. It wouldn't surprise me if she falls short of the final. I think Lauren's personality (and brilliant voice, of course) will actually see her further than Louisa, and Kiera (who I think will be gone by the 4th or 5th week).

i haven't said i dont enjoy it , but this is meant to be the x factor not stars in their eyes

as i said above some of the songs she has done are great songs but what is it showing about her as an artist ?

what is it showing about what sort of music she would do after the show ?

this has nothing to do with genres, this is about her and i would be saying the same thing if she was trying to do copycat performances of evanescence or paramore

Louisa is not going to need to win to get signed anyway as i would say that is a given with the voice that she has. Might well finish in a similar position to Ella.

Louisa may sing soulful songs but she doesn't have a soulful voice so liking soul music is irrelevant. To be a soul singer, you need to have emotion and character in your voice. She can definitely belt but that doesn't equate to being soulful.

And btw, I love a bit of soul.

We'll see. I just hope they don't try and get her to say "I've been wanting this all my life" given that she's 17 and still in school. Come back when you've had a tough job love.

I don't disagree with what you say, but remember she is only 17, and very inexperienced at this stage. She has plenty of time to develop. O only hope that they will not try to turn her into a pop princess which would not suit her at all.

maybe if she doesn't want that she shouldn't go on the x factor as that is the remit of the show ...

I can't really warm to her. No doubt she is a good singer, but she seems to get favouritism over the rest of the acts.

Joss Stone and Christina Aguilera had very soulful voices around her age. I don't think age is an excuse. I think you either have it or you don't.

Lauren Platt won me over quite early on last year

Happy and What a Feeling (loved her since)

i got a feeling i will start to like Louisa in the same way

I don't think she stands a chance of winning, even though she's the best singer and nicest girl in the competition. Those things will actually go against her when she's up against the public vote.

She, along with Che, will be 'shock' exits. Mason will beat both of them.

i see your point especially cause the stereotypical housewifes will vote against her

The housewifes will be struggling to have anyone to vote for this year as there is no one like Ben thank goodness.

Soul music...she hasn't performed a single soul song so far and her voice is certainly not a soul voice.

I'm a housewife and I would vote for her! I didn't vote for Ben last year either, so I'm obviously not stereotypical!
