Just thought since the apprentice is usually put on TV around May- July or March- May does anyone know if a new series has been confirmed for next year yet becuase if so they will have to start filming it soon if it is to reach the usual TV slot of March-May or May- July

It's been October-December for the past couple of years now. Seems to be the accepted slot

For the first nine series, it was always on around March/April, with the one exception being Series 6, which was filmed a full year prior to broadcast but had to be delayed due to conflict of interest with Lord Sugar's involvement in the 2010 election. They managed to swiftly move it back with Series 7, because that was filmed during the broadcast of Series 6 (though it started a couple of months later to leave a longer gap).

The reason it was late last year was because of the World Cup, and they hadn't filmed ahead in time to start Series 11 any sooner. As far as I know, Series 12 is not even commissioned yet, never mind filming. I doubt it will be any earlier than next autumn, but for all we know they might give the whole format a rest next year and bring it back in the spring of 2017.

Agreed. I'm not sure that deferring series 12 to spring 2017 would necessarily be a good idea in terms of retaining casual viewers but there is no reason why that couldn't happen.

No inside knowledge here, but to be honest I can't see why the BBC would want to move it from the autumn slot. They've got the schedule nicely sorted now: EastEnders-free Wednesdays are home to two of the Beeb's biggest hitters - first we get Bake-Off to lead us out of the summer and into early autumn, then The Apprentice picks up the batom immediately and takes us up to Christmas. BBC scheduling is sometimes baffling, but I think they're on to a winner here.

Plus next year there's no point overlapping the show with either Euro 2016 (mid-June to mid-July) or the Olympics (August). Given that the current series will run up to Christmas, there's not really much point in rushing through a new series that would probably have to run from March to May. Plus, of course, Sugar, Brady et al do actually have other jobs and probably wouldn't want to load even more commitments on themselves for no obvious reason.

The show at this early stage is already attracting some controversy with the cat-fight and Karren's Tory Tax Cut Vote, and I don't think either of these things are doing favours for the show.

Furthermore, Alan and Karren both seem throroughly bored with the job.

I love The Apprentice but I am somewhat concerned for it's future. Wasn't Series 11 confirmed by this point last year?

Fair point, yes. Although it still seems to be getting reasonably decent figures, and I think if it was on the verge of the axe, we might have heard something by now. When Young Apprentice was cancelled, there were rumours about it months before it was officially confirmed - before the third series even started, in fact. And if they were planning to cancel it, wouldn't it have been better to do it last year, on the ten-year mark, when Lord Sugar had invested £1,000,000 in businesses?

Which is not to say that I think you're wrong, it does seem a bit odd that the next series hasn't been confirmed yet. I'm not sure it will last that much longer, even if there is a twelfth series. Although, it has been so popular that I think it could easily be brought back with a new person at the helm in a few years' time.

Yes, it's easily still one of the BBC's flagship shows. It was their most-watched show after Strictly in The Apprentice's launch week.

It is a tough one. What it boils down to is whether they will reinvent it with a new host.

I looked it up and last year, Series 11 was confirmed on the 7th of October. Imagine if at the end of this year's You're Hired, they say, 'and unforunately this will be the last series of the show' That would be awful.

A new host will be difficult to find, he's not everyone's cup of tea but Lord Sugar will be hard act to follow, the only person that's as high as a propfile as LS that i can think of of the top of my head that could replace Lord Sugar is Richard Branson

I just don't see why they'd go to the trouble of replacing both Nick and Dara if it was just for one series, when last year would have been a much better one to bow out on.

I think when it does eventually end, if they have any sense they'll announce that before the series starts. That will get more viewing figures, if they advertise it as the last series.

I've heard Peter Jones from Dragons' Den suggested a few times.

To be fair, many of the Dragons I think could do a good job! Duncan Bannatyne perhaps...

He did that dreadful ripoff of The Apprentice on ITV didn't he?

If they did cancel it - it might just be the right time, I've find myself getting slightly bored with the tedium of the format now, it's tired. The brilliance of the early seasons a fading memory.

The people for me that are letting it down are Alan and Karren. Really quite disappointed in them this year.

how i dont know but when i 1st posted this thread it had slipped my mind about the olympics and football next summer. they wont want to go against that. so Series 12 probibly will be commissioned but will be at the same time and possibly Series 13 (if it lasts to 2017) may go back to the spring summer slot

I don't want The Apprentice to be axed :-/
I'm fairly sure Lord Sugar first brought up series 11 on You're Hired last year, with the applications opening a few weeks earlier? I wouldn't get too worried at this stage.

I really don't want The Apprentice axed either because it is the only bearable reality show imo. But I do feel like the show needs a bit of a change up to make things a bit more fresh and exciting, I know having Claude replace Nick was meant to make this year's show feel exciting but instead even that change feels very same-old same-old and we don't even have Nick's glorious faces to keep the entertainment factor at a high.

I would say replace Lord Sugar but to me he's a big part of why I watch, regardless of whether his lines are scripted or not I just can't imagine anyone else in his place.

I do think they need to do more "new" tasks. I'm tired of "Buy product x, sell it on for profit" tasks and the obligatory advertisement task and the obligatory "abroad" task, it makes the show feel too familiar. I have to say, the childrens book task coming up next week is a very good start though, can see that being good for some laughs.

I agree with the above. New tasks!

When the time is right, and it may be next year, they need an OVERHAUL. New boardroom and board.

I don't want the show to go
