This doesn't sound like the best week.

I loathe Dean with a passion, but Ronnie's running him close right now. As much as he's physically abusive to Roxy, Ronnie is pretty close to being emotionally abusive to her. It's deranged.

t doesn't sound like Dean dies during the Halloween week then.

Well at least honey returns this week other than that this week sounds poor.

Great to see Shirley's back. And looks like Honey returns this week too, which means some more stuff for Billy. Elaine and Mick coming to blows will be good. A much needed break from the Mitchells too. Looks good.

"Mick and Shirley build bridges..."
Ooh great, because we haven't seen this before.

"... Things take an unexpected turn"
Let me guess, Dean turns up and Mick gets the 'ump and storms aaht.

"Ronnie and Dean fight over Roxy"
And the loser has to keep her

"Will Kim give Vincent another chance?"
Yes. Next.

Haha brilliant

I am away that Monday so I will skip Monday's scenes as I can't be bothered with Shirley and Mick's scenes . I like Mick but don't like him and Shirley together.

Great to see Honey back though

I know

I don't like the sound of mick forgiving shirley myself mind. Rinse repeat x 1000000

Mick is better with the immediate family and in the Vic imo.

This 100% . That's probably why I can't stand Mick and Shirley together

If they really don't feature then the viewing figures might go up as they have been awful recently. Emmerdale only started beating EE for non-clash episodes after they became the focus.

Now I am not trying to deny the Mitchells importance or that they have been a part of iconic storylines in the past but this incarnation of the family lacks the impact of previous ones. Sharon and Phil's circular relationship is stale.

The Mitchells have a big storyline so they will probably be in the episodes. Oh wait, they are in that week's episodes because Ronnie and Roxy are Mitchells. The Mitchells are not the reason why viewing ratings are down. Unnecessary to single out the Mitchells only

Dan can't blame the ratings on non Mitchell related plots
bass55

I suspect the viewing figures are down because every storyline is going in circles and has done for months. It has nothing to do with the Mitchells having greater screen presence. Having Shirley and Dean back on screen will not see ratings go back up. That's just silly.

It's funny how the Sharon and Phil antagonists are blaming them for the lack of ratings. Last week, they didn't feature but the ratings did not improve and it was a massive week for the Cokers.

Ratings go up and down for all soaps; I doubt that the presence of one family has that much of an impact on them. The viewing figures will go up for Halloween because it's been promoted so heavily, but I seriously doubt they will see any change just because the Mitchells are taking a break from the limelight. Nobody is tuning in to see Kim and Vincent break up part 200, or Mick/Shirley/Dean part 500,000.

I like the Mitchell stuff myself but usually they are used as an excuse as to why ratings are higher imo

I think what is being pointed out is that a few posters have tried to say that if the Mitchell's are front and center then it will increase the ratings, evidently that is not as true as some would like to believe..

Viewing figures change frequently anyway depending on what is happened, and when.

I have no idea about ratings, because I don't follow them that closely. But I certainly think the quality is better when the Mitchells/Beales/Brannings are front and centre. When the Lucy storyline took focus again over the summer there was a dramatic rise in quality literally overnight. I have no idea if this is reflected in ratings, but I don't care that much to be honest.

I generally subscribe to the view that bass55 has that ratings hover around a typical level (lower in the summer) and noticeably rise only for special/promoted eps (and not just ones featuring the Mitchells). But I think even around the normal level there's some fluctuation depending on how good or bad the show is. When the show is at the lower end of that it's enough for ED to take over since they are now so close which we are seeing at the moment. Not just that but the shares are getting poorer too and there's no excuse for that.

I think what I said is true about this version of the Mitchell family not connecting with viewers as much as previous versions have. Several episodes rated higher than Phil and Sharon's wedding last year. JMO.

They appear in every other scene so it's a fair assumption to make that they are the reason EE is at the lower end of its typical level at the moment.
