What pros can't justify their place and who would you replace them with?
I think there are a few pros on the show that just aren't strong enough across both latin and ballroom and so shouldn't be on the show as they weaken their celebs chances.
The pros I'm thinking of are Anton (poor at latin) and Janette (not as strong teaching ballroom)..I would admit I'm definitely not an expert on dance ability so it would be interesting to hear other more dance savvy posters' opinion on this forum. I'd replace Anton with Robin (if he wanted /could come back to the show) and Janette with Iveta if she'd do the show again. i must say I really like Janette but I feel she hasn't so far shown herself to be a great pro for her celebs as I feel both Jake and Peter so far haven't developed as I'd expect, but perhaps that's more about me expecting too much from both J and P. What are others thoughts?? |

Don't have a very good opinion of Robin, so if anyone was to replace Anton (which eventually will happen) I rather have instead Trent or Artem.
I agree withJanette, thought find her an excellent dancer just not in ballroom! Katya or Anya would be also good. Iveta is brilliant but she is tall, so not a swap for janette. Though this year I am surprised she wasn't on, she would have made a great partner for Jeremy. |

Janette's ballroom and Anton's Latin aren't strong for the same reason - they haven't really got much of a background in it.
But I like Janette a lot and love watching her and Aljaz in the pro dances (which, let's face it, are rarely pure ballroom & Latin nowadays), so I wouldn't get rid of her and I doubt the BBC will be doing so any time soon either. I'd get rid of Anton - he's showing this year that he's incapable of having a good celeb. And I think Ola's time on Strictly should be up too - she used to be renowned for being good with the less talented celebs, but Karen has proven herself equally capable of filling that role, and I was really impressed with how Kristina worked with Daniel this year. I'd get rid of Brendan as well, his attitude is annoying me this year. I don't really rate Tristan either, and I'm not sold on Gleb or Giovanni yet. I'm in the minority as I don't rate Iveta at all, but I thought Anya was great with Patrick and would be happy if she got another chance. Would also love to see what Joanne could do in ballroom with a talented celeb... |

I think Anton's inclusion is justified. I don't especially like him, but he fulfills a role and serves a purpose. Robin was, in my opinion, a dire choregrapher and no great shakes as a dancer or teacher, so I don't think he could fill Anton's role any better than Anton currently does.
I find Brendan's presence harder to explain than Anton's - he seems to have checked out of the show altogether. Ditto Ola - we've seen everything she has to offer a hundred times over and she similarly seems to wish she was anywhere but there. Janette is there to be thrown in the air, I guess, but I think she's a tricky one to justify in pure dance terms - all style, no substance. |

I don't know enough about ballroom to know how she rates on that, but I feel that Janette did as good a rumba with Peter as anyone could have done. A lot of rumbas make me want to hide behind a cushion and while I don't think it was brilliant, I think her choice to go for something not too raunchy was the right way to go and it wasn't the cheese-fest it might have been. She's got a lot of strengths even if she's got some weaknesses (and we all do). I think with Jake she was really limited by how much time he had available, you're not going to see much improvement if you've no time to train, and I think Peter would be stompy whoever he was with.

I'd replace Tristan with Trent.
As nice a guy as Tristan seems and the great dancer that he is, he doesn't have that "oompf" as a teacher and choreographer for me. I'm no dance expert but, nevertheless, feel Jamelia could have come a much longer way with the likes of Aljaz ,Trent or even Brendan. Trent was a reserved character so did not come across too well on ITT. However, he is a fantastic dancer and choreographer. Yes, Pixie was tantamount to a ringer last year so it would be interesting to see what he could do with a less able celeb. I just think Trent could take a contestant on a much longer "journey" than the "too cool for school" Tristan. |

I think they can all justify their place on their show on some level but I was dropping one of each gender I'd ditch Karen and Tristan, although to be fair I doubt Anton has more than one more series at most in him anyway, and replace them with Anya and Trent. Nothing would boost the quality of results show pro dances like Pasha and Anya together again.

I have no issue with Anton but his place is providing the duffers with a wonderful fun experience despite the judge's comments. He's very very good at it.

at all the replace Tristan comments ![]() I love TristanI would replace Brendan and Anton no idea who with since I don't really know much about pro dancers, I do like Neil Jones but don't know if he would do it. I wasn't keen on Trent and although Robin is lovely I don't want him back

I think Anton has always been dire at Latin. Now he's getting slower compared to the young ones, even in ballroom. To be honest I think Len may stand down next year and Anton is a perfect replacement. I'd probably not replace him with a returning pro - maybe Artem and definitely not Robin. I'm also over Brendan. He let down a promising pro last year and isn't redeeming himself with his partner this year.
It's time to go for Ola, I think she's had enough. I can predict her choreography almost exactly - knee slide, starfish, floor mop. |

Although the show would definitely feel his absence, I'd probably dump Anton. I think Katie's meant to be his retirement present, and he could join the presenting/judging team in some capacity. He gets the talking time, and maybe the odd pro ballroom exhibition dance, and we get all of him as he is now, just without having to see him do Latin ever again.
Dump Tristan because though he seems nice enough, his choreography is bizarre and not in a good/funny/memorable/eccentric way. If last week's foxtrot hadn't had parts in hold, I would honestly have thought they were dancing a rumba. And I remember immediately after the launch show everything was picking up on Jamelia as one of the standouts - Tristan got someone with potential, and so far he's rather flushed it down the pan. The only dance she shone in (Charleston) is the one where they get outside choreography/assistance. Dump Janette because I've seen it mentioned here tonight that Jake and Peter both suffer from similar problems - a lot of showmanship papering over the cracks. They have the basic capability, but I'm not sure Janette is equipped to teach them the technique. Keep her as a salsa choreographer though. Dump Brendan and Ola because they just seem kind of over the whole thing mentally (and not in a funny way like Aliona from 2012 onwards). Although I won't rule Brendan out entirely - he was on a serious hot streak with Sophie Ellis-Bextor two years ago, and if he could get that mojo back, I'd be fine with him staying, as opposed to the Brendan who partnered Sunetra last year. Keep everyone else, and bring back Trent, Artem and Iveta - all great choreographers/teachers with distinctive personalities, nothing else needed. I'd also like to see what Joanne could do with someone with basic ability (let's say last year was a blip), and if Ian wanted to do a full series as a pro rather than just doing Christmas/Comic Relief specials, then I'd be all for that too. (I mean newbies are generally the way to go, but I'm not that familiar with who's up-and-coming in the ballroom world. I'd still prefer to see those five pros back though) |

Strictly needs to persuade a variety of celebs - who are well known in their 'area' - to join the show.
They need to enjoy their time on the show - if only to tell their celebrity mates so they'll join in future years. ![]() Pros need to be able to make their Strictly experience enjoyable - no matter how good the Pros are otherwise as dancers or choreographers or on ITT. Suspect Anton and Tristan are exceptionally good at being good company or supporting their celebs. |

I think it's time for Brendan to go. For a while he was the one producing some beautiful ballroom routines but now Aljaz and even Gleb seem to be filling that role.

Janette should definitely go. I was sorry to see her back this year after she threw away Jake last year
. She's just not a good teacher, particularly not ballroom. I'm more or less happy with the guys, although Anton should only get comedy partners from now on if he's going to stay with Strictly. Then the limitations of his own Latin dancing won't show up so badly. Brendan spends too much time and effort trying to curb his temper at the judges. He should chill. I'm sure Strictly would love to have Vincent and Flavia back if they could, but they went off to do their own thing, very successfully. |

Defiantly should go:
Anton - Terrible Latin. Terrible choreography. Fails to show off his partner in their best light. Ola - Average dancer. Poor choreography. Pasha - Sickening fake smile through everything. Exposes weak partners. Tristan - Poor dancer. Poor choreography. Partners don't improve. Bobbi - Just plain average Unsure of: Brendan - Rather boring choreography now but I guess is competent. Giovanni/Gleb/Oti - Too soon to say. Replacements: I liked Trent, Katya and Iveta. Over on DWTS, Sasha is wasted in the troupe. |

Janette : Not trained in the 10 dances. Travesty, especially when they are more than enough qualified pros who trained/worked their entire lives to be good at their craft. Her specialty is salsa. She is a VERY good dancer but her lack of training is a disservice to her contestants IMO . Not a big fan of Peter but he could have improved his technique with another pro imo; it seems like he plateaued; that was the same case with Jake last year.
Since we are stuck with her, she should at least do a crash course in ballroom/latin when strictly is on a hiatus. Anton : I am sorry but with his complete disdain and cluelessness towards Latin dances, he needs to go ..he cant even be bothered .....another one that I dont see leaving the show sadly. Any ringer or contender is wasted on him.Replace them with whoever is qualified; I don't have anyone in particular in mind. They could replace Anton with Trent. Tristan I feel like is turning into the Anton role. I like him but I dont rate his choreography and teaching skills
