Selina should have gone for the reasons Romesh put over on YF, it could easily have been a double firing. Ruth came over a a nice enough person but not at 05.30 in her underwear . Cant get into the YF at all cant take to jack dee, I only tune in to hear what the fired contestant has to say, for me the humour of this show has all been lost.

Selina tweeted last night that she has broken her contract with the show and will not be appearing on You're Fired. She called them idiots.

Out of all the tenuous links to the task in some of the meeting places at the start of the episodes, I think this weeks was possibly the best - "we're meeting here because the bloke most of you candidates have never heard of had a cat"!
Good to see the teams mixed up, though predictable after last weeks 'fight' that Selina and Charleine would be split up.

Do people really pay those sort of prices for a dog bed? It's cheaper to buy the dog its own full sized sofa!

Those heat pads for puppies and kittens have been around for years, nothing innovative about them - we have a couple somewhere (they are extremely good though and do stay warm for a long time).

Nice little bit of bickering between Claude and Karren. Claude was right imo though.

I don't like Selina, but LS and the 'two faces' comment was a little harsh. It seem pretty obvious though that neither him nor Claude and Karren like her. And so far we've only seen her being nice apparently!

Scott is my favourite at the moment, now that Ruth has been fired. Though it's a little worrying for him that LS warned him about being too fair, or words to that effect.


I thought that was strange as well, I was waiting for Claude and Karren to tell us the profits (and maybe even the losses with left over stock). I guess it was a pure sales task and nothing else.

^^ That and she was an awful salesperson. Soon as they mentioned that she actually trains telesales, it all fell into place. She uses "shotgun" sales tactic of speaking to as many people as possible, and tries to tie them up instead of getting to the point.

2 golden rules of selling "never ask a question that can be answered by yes or no" and "make your pitch and shut your mouth".

I found the episode pretty bland in all honesty. The tasks are too samey. I'd love to see something different.

Must be the first time in years a woman has been seen in a state of undress, its always the blokes parading around in their pants.

Poor Ruth. I liked her but I have to say it was the right boot. Too bad Selina didn't go with her. Or Brett.

David looked so cute and hot. And did his team manage to earn 1000+ pounds just selling balloons?

It was a negotiation and then sales task, you need to find out how much your suppliers will move to give you room to sell, if you can get a multiple sales discount for an item like the chicken vest thing you could perhaps find someone with lets say a 100 chickens who would buy them at 4.50 a unit but at 5.00 would say thats too much since the owner won't allow the flex to sell.

I think the basic ideas of the tasks are simple but the devil is in the detail especially when you know you are competing in a one off event.

That was my overall impression of this week's show as well.

I don't mind that they have similar tasks each year but (for me at least) the entertainment comes from watching as the candidates do well at something or not - whether that means watching them make a pig's ear of designing a smartphone app' or watching them create an inspired shampoo brand.

This episode just seemed to show a bunch of people working for 40 minutes and then there was 20 minutes of watching the people who made the least money get criticised.

It was a bit of a shame to see Ruth do so badly after being the only woman who retained any dignity during the catfight last week but she was certainly guilty of talking the talk but utterly failing to walk the walk when the time came.

It was a bit silly the way AS said to Scott "You need to start talking to convince me why you should stay".
Really?
If I was Scott I would have just said "I should stay because I didn't screw anything up as boss and I sold all the stuff I was supposed to sell so just fire one of these other losers and we can all go home".

Also, who the hell is Sam?
This week was the first time I've even SEEN him and that was only because the boardroom camera fixed on him at one point.

Not surprised. She knows she'd get a rough ride on YF. What an unpleasant person though; that sneer she does when being bitchy, ugh! Wonder how long she'll last in the show (don't tell me though!)?
Is she going to take the Katie Hopkins route to fame I wonder? I wouldn't be surprised.

It was right for Ruth to go, for all her colorful outfits, just too eccentric, she talked too much, and talked her way out of getting sales.
Customers looked at her and thought 'blimey, she's a bit mad ain't she'

Yeah. That was such a bad reward.

The reward was meeting Mo.F, wouldn't you like to if only to tell everyone?

As I was saying to the Queen only the other day, I really do detest namedroppers.

He must take some of the blame as Project Manager (Sh•t always flows down hill) His main problem was, while he was busy selling, he allowed his other 2 sales people to basically do "sod all". He should of realised what was happening and had a team re-shuffle, not just let it go on and on.

If he'd had 2 sales people like himself on his team he would of won. It's better to allow those that aren't that great at selling, to sell the lower priced items that were more of a impulse buy, Ruth would of probably been ok (if she allowed the customer to speak).

And as Romesh pointed out on You're Fired, Ruth's technique did well on the cheap, impulse buy lunches on the first week; for the big-ticket items, customers need time to think, which her constant yammering did not allow.

This may also explain Richard's observation that sales at exhibitions typically pick up in the afternoon, as visitors will by then have seen all the stands and turned over potential buys in their minds as they walk around.

Shame Ruth went, she was a character. She didn't sell anything so had to go.

I don't know. Something went wrong at the cat tower stand that I can't quite put my finger on.

1) according tto the vendor, ten sales a day was the norm;
2) sales seemed to dry up completely in the afternoon.

It could be that our heroes were actively repelling customers, but might there have been another stand selling better or cheaper cat towers?

10 sales a day may be possible when you have a bit of flexibility that the selling team didn't have, they're very constrained on price with no room to bargain on a high ticket item it'll probably put people off....if you're going to be spending up to a grand on your cats then you'll want something thrown in to sweeten the deal.

Most exhibitions I've attended/Exhibited at do tend to do most of their business towards the latter part of the morning or early afternoon. Mainly because the people who are first though the door usually have a set purchase in mind and will go straight there. Most people who arrive after doors open are usually casual buyers and want to have a look around.

So with the cat stands the team may have done the sales pitch bit, but the price was off putting and so people will then wonder around looking for a cheaper alternative. Again they failed to close.

And those stands were very over priced, for what is essentially a fence post with cord wrapped around it and a basket perched on top.
