Hi, just got off the phone to EE , we have 3 handsets with them and have done for around 14 years, was wanting to upgrade to both the iPhone 6+ and the s6 edge from the iPhone 5 and the s4, I was told that we would have to pay £209 and £159 for each handset, anyway when I told them that I could get them both for a lower price if not free elsewhere they told me that they could send me the puk codes for then. I accepted and will be looking elsewhere.

What I want to know is are they likely to ring me back within the next couple of days to offer me a better deal or not? I don't want to get a new contract with someone else and be offered one by EE too.

Thanks

I asked for mine on Sunday - often go over 10gb data so am looking to go to three - they offered me 20gb for £60 a month - declined this and they sent over the PAK.

Had a call the next day from them but missed it so I expect they will call you.

Sorry..... <pedant>

It's a PAC. A PUK unblocks your SIM card if you enter the PIN wrong 3 times...

It's also not a PAC code. Just a PAC.

If you actually asked for, and were sent PUK numbers I doubt anything will be happening.

As Plymouth days, it is PAC numbers you needed, did you get a numerical only number or a letters+numbers code?.

The C stands for code..

His point was it's not a Porting Authorisation Code.. Code

I fear this noble battle is already lost- cf. "PIN Number" which is in the common vernacular already.

"PAC code" and "PIN Number" are 2 of my pet hates, even the banks say it like that, they should know better!

PAC used to stand for "Porting Authorisation Code" but like many things the meaning has changed over the years.

Now it means "I want a discount"

An PI Number would just confuse people, so would your PA Code. I guess it just shows how silly the English language is at times.

The problem is that if the companies offered retention before people went to that level, then it would be fine. However everyone knows you have to go all the way to get a discount.

.
But why would you only use half an acronym? You don't say DV Disc or e gratia?

More concerning is the hideous "would of" or "should of". Or "there" used to indicate possession.

I dont know about EE. With vodafone, I have ask for a PAC, then wait a week or two. They usually ring offering me a better deal than the person who gave me the PAC.

Agree with others, why dont they just give you their best deal straight away and save the hassle. I always say to myself, this year I am really going to leave. I havent done yet.

Actually it means, "We know you want a discount, you know you want a discount. However we arent going to give you the discount until you ask for the PAC. Yes everybody knows its a stupid way of doing it. However we paid for some software that produces a PAC and we are going to use it no matter what." But I guess PAC is simpler.
