Too soon. Deirdre's barely cold in her grave.

Interesting that Sue Nicholls said the storyline had to be delayed due to Anne Kirkbrides death. I wonder if they were lining up yet another affair for Ken

I think so. I made a thread a year ago when I noticed a whiff of this.

I hate this storyline so much.

I'm not seeing much of a spark between the two of them and I don't like this happening so soon after Deirdre. Yes Ken has form for moving on quickly but he's older now and has realised that Deirdre was always the one. To see him move on so quickly is awful but then what do you expect from Blackburn? Even Roy has got a new woman something that wouldn't happen in a million years.

Dreadful idea. Why can't they just be friends? Why does there need to be a romance.

SB is creating longterm misery here. Even though he won't be around much longer, his dreadful legacy will live on in awful storylines like this.

If they really need to create a romance for Ken, why not introduce a new character or get Wendy Crozier or Martha back. There must be loads of good actresses of a certain age that would jump at the chance of a small role in Corrie.

No, I really don't like them together. On paper it sounds lovely, joining the two most important Coronation Street families together, but I don't see any chemistry or spark between them. They're better off as friends - same goes for Roy and Cathy too as far as I'm concerned.

I'd also hate to see Audrey lose the Roberts name, she should be Mrs Roberts on her gravestone laying side by side with her Alfeh.

Bringing back Martha is a wonderful idea. Their affair was one of my favourites. He had such a strong connection with Martha, at the time I remember wanting him to dump Deirdre for her!

I called this years ago. I told you all. I said "me and J-B reckon Kenneth will be rattling that Audrey bit of trim before long." But none of you listened.

Agree, it seems really forced. Why not have some contented singles?

Ken & Audrey gets a huge NO from me.

It's just not right.

If Ken HAS to have someone, they should make it someone completely new.

Been away for a few weeks, and just catching up on the episodes I've missed, and can't believe Ken is chasing another woman again so soon after Deirdre, and looking at the TV mags, there is another one on the horizon as well as Audrey. It's just the same old story of people knowing one another for years without the slightest interest, then falling for one another. Will they have Audrey leave her lovely big house in Grasmere Drive, and move into Ken's tiny, overcrowded
terrace with it's ancient furniture, or will he finally move from the Street after all these years? I wonder!

Are they meant to have chemistry? Ken comes across as creepy & Audrey seems really uncomfortable around him. A romance wouldn't be convincing

I remember them getting quite chummy before Anne Kirkbrides death - with the book reading etc. I remember thinking their must be another affair in the works. After Anne's death they must've decided to put any romance on the back burner and now Deirdre has been dead a while they've resumed the storyline. I still think it's too soon though - makes Ken seem like a right pig although I guess this must happen in real life quite a bit.

Also, as others have pointed out on here, why did it have to be Audrey?!
If Ken was to move on, bring back an old flame or a less well-known acquaintance/new character?
Maybe once Ken finds out what's been going on under Gail's renovated garage, it'll put him off a bit?! (Even with his libido! ).

Again with the Roy & Cathy relationship. 'Corrie' expects us to move on swiftly, not to let the grass grow! I had always assumed that Hayley would have been 'the one & only' for our Roy!

Loved seeing Ken in his kimono on Martha's love barge

I really don't like this storyline Deirdre hasn't been gone long, and he's going after Audrey! I just don't think it's very realistic at all. Also the same with Roy with Cathy, I doubt he would even think about being with anyone else after Hayleys death.

Ken's like a bloody dog on heat chasing after Audrey at every opportunity. Deirdre who?

One of the things that annoys me about modern soaps is that they can't seem to have any single characters. You could imagine Ken moving on eventually because of the character he is but not this soon.

As for Roy, I doubt he would ever have another partner after Hayley. Him and Cathy should have stayed as friends

I know it sounds stupid given it is a fictional show and obviously some people do find love again after the death of their partner, but this story is just so rushed and very forced its almost laughable. Can nobody be single? First Roy being paired with Cathy, then Ken and Audrey, and likely Eva and Aiden. I just find it so ridiculous that Ken, whose only just lost the love of his life, would be desperately pursuing somebody. I really hope that he is just looking for a friend or companion or something as a relationship this soon is just in bad taste imo.

Sue Nicholls saying the storyline was delayed by Anne Kirkbride's death pretty much confirms they were planning a Ken/Audrey affair behind Deidre's back. Over a year ago Ken and Audrey did get pretty close remember when he gave her that book to read?

People are complaining that its too soon after Deidre's death but I think its very in character for Ken. He couldn't stay faithful to Deidre when she was alive so its no surprise he's got his eye on other women now she's gone. And Deidre was no saint either she cheated on him multiple times as well. If it were the other way around and Ken had been the one to die I reckon Deidre would have been out on the pull already with Liz trying to bag herself another toy boy.

The widower embarking on a new relationship that doesn't sit right with me is Roy. Its very out of character for him. He should have remained single. And that Cathy is bloody awful. I love Melanie Hill as an actress but find the character of Cathy absolutely unbearable.
