Putting aside personal feelings towards candidates, it's a simple shootout for me between Ruth and Brett.

Whether you like Selina or not, she did make a sale that contributed a significant chunk to her teams total.

Brett lost them a major income stream with the balloons with his forceful personality, a trait that will not work in all tasks. I don't feel that he's anywhere near adaptable enough for this process, particularly as he struggles to lower his intensity levels at any time.

Ruth could not sell for toffee and whilst she may come across friendly on this show, I imagine a one-off meeting with her would drive you bonkers in real life. Perhaps that's the part of me that hates awkward conversation, but I wouldn't be able to get away quick enough from her if I went to a pet show and was being asked about my relationship with my partner when looking for a cat bed. However you are often only as good as the product you sell and the price point seemed ridiculously high for a couple of cat towers.

Ultimately, the big loss was the balloons and that comes down to Boring Brett for me.

I don't see how this could be attributed to anyone other than Selina? Scott came over, priced up the package then left for Selina to close the sale that she had previously worked to convince them of the purchase.

Some people seem to just have it in for candidates they don't like and can;t attribute credit where it's due. Criticise her for the rest of the task, sure, but I thought Claude was out of order to claim this was more down to Scott than her.

Out of all of them, Brett should have gone because he lost the balloons. Out of those in the boardroom, sad to say Ruth was the right one to go because she's supposed to be a sales trainer and she was rubbish at sales on that task.

Not really. Selina was fumbling around with her paperwork and could very well have lost the customer.
If I was making a big purchase but the seller didn't really seem sure of themself or the price, I'd probably want to move on to someone else who knew what they were doing. So Scott probably saved Selina's arse. Though it would have been good to see how the sale would have gone with no Scott.

In fairness, the price sheet looked like it had a catalogue of items, probably not the easiest to manouevre through when looking for combination prices. If anything, should she not be commended for running it by her project manager rather than wrongly pricing up a product?

I've been to shops where I've wanted something that the assistant doesn't know the price to but will happily wait if it's something I really want. Evidently someone buying a £600 cat tower combination is heavily interested by that point, so I doubt many people would move on if they weren't given a price within the minute Selina spent skimming through the price sheet.

It was her explanation of the product, rapport and push for a sale that got the customer through to that point. Scott coming over just to say how much it is is highly insignificant in the greater picture.

She didn't really keep the rapport with the customer going though. She went blank and looked disorganized, she didn't seem to have the gift of the gab to look more professional while calling over Scott. She looked inexperienced.
Plus she then had to interrupt Scott's sale aswell.

Overall, I just think Selina doesn't look impressive because she doesn't really go into task mode. If only she put some of that aggression she has into the tasks, rather than just her attitude.

But on the other hand she did sell a product, whereas Ruth didn't. If we're looking at this on this task alone, she therefore can't be considered the weakest performer. Ultimately she kept hold of her customer and forced the sale through even if the methods were peculiar.

I'd like to note that I'm not a fan of Selina by any means, but I just think we should be able to put things into perspective. Could she have sold more, absolutely. But then Ruth certainly should've sold more and Brett should've had better people skills in charming the creator of the better small-value product (the balloons).

I personally thought Ruth and Selina were fairly equal on this task. But Ruth has looked impressive in other tasks, whereas Selina really hasn't.
It was obvious that Ruth is not the sort of person for Lord Sugar, but I find it hard to justify why Selina deserved to stay, apart from causing aggro in future. I reckon she may be heading for a more brutal firing down the road.

Brett needs to mellow out on his Serious Business attitude, though. It's been said numerous times, but he comes across as robotic.

And Scott needs to be more decisive.

No brainier Ruth to be fired. I don't think it's a matter of "Who", but if Selina also should've been fired.

You muppets saying Brett have NO idea, their low ticket items were like 100quid different from memory. The big ticket is where they lost.

Edit: those who are saying Brett, explain WHY, instead of stating it. Because their low ticket items were almost identical, and that 150 quid or so extra (if they got the balloons) DOES NOT make up the 1000 difference.

I have to say Ruth. But also Brett and Selina. Boy they were dreadful.

I think Ruth's approach could work, it just didn't work this time. Where she went wrong was not separating the browsers from possible customers. Given her alleged experience that did surprise me. But there's nothing wrong with gaining a rapport with a customer, even moving the conversation away from the product sometimes. If you're selling big ticket items, getting the customer to like you is half-way to making a sale.

To be honest, I wouldn't have fired any of them this week. But I realise that's not how the programme works. In my opinion Vana should have gone last week, now that was a total shambles.

When you consider that the balloons most likely made up around 80% of that total, it's a lot and probably very high comparable to say the pet warmers from the edit that we saw.

Should have been Brett. Selina would also have been justified. Ruth would have been my third choice. Shame she went.

HAVE DISAGREED WITH THE LAST TWO SACKINGS....but they should have kept ruth on for her enthusiasm and entertainment value alone.
Selina should have gone...wouldn't miss her or half a dozen of the others.

Brett , his rigid thinking and approach to every task is very worrying .
