I was out the other night with a friend and he suggested we have fish and chips.

There was a special, get two tubs of mushy peas free with your fish and chips. At first I refused but my friend said, 'go on, refuse nothing but blows.'

Anyway, these mushy peas kinda ruined my fish and chips because they were really filling. I normally can polish off fish and chips no problem, but with the mushy peas, I left half my fish and most of my chips.

Nothing should sully fish and chips bar salt, vinegar and tartar sauce IMO.

I love chippy chips and mushy peas : )

It's my go-to chippy treat of choice.

Mushy Peas are a condiment really, to be sparingly applied to fish or chip whilst consuming.

They also cause volatile bouts of flatulence, in my experience.

I have to exercise after mushy peas or they just seem to settle in the system discharging gas.

I eat a lot of home made pea soup which is basically just watered down mushy peas........though I add other veg as well (not always though, sometimes just peas)

peas must be good for you........and tastes great

you know in medieval times when they lived on pottage and bread.......I always thiink of the pottage as being a big vat of pea soup that they just chuck whatever they have in every day and never actually empty the pan, just keep it continuously on the go all year round......

Yes probably not too far from the truth there.
Like Welsh cawl without the meat.

My grandprents' generation practically lived on cawl with homemade bread and cheese.
No wonder they were so healthy.

How much of the peas did you eat?

Surely all peas are mushy in the stomach?

Can't say mushy peas have ever filled me up. I struggle eating fish and chips from my local not because of the peas but because their idea of a portion of chips is enough for 4 people.

You don't apply mushy peas to fish and chips, you dip your chips and bits of fish into the mushy peas.
