I believe thats accurate along with nerve damage in his hands

Then again, you don't need a good back/pair of hands to lay down vocals assuming he's using session guys for the band

Then the other guy must have been Danny Devito.

Fraid not....I remember Collins saying this just after saying it was 'just one of the things he dabbled in"

No big deal really just though it was a bit off of him..

Ok though PG has said similar about the Early Genesis stuff as well. Though I can understand Collins being a bit fed up with stuff like the Slipperman from The Lamb Lies Down.

Great review of 'Face Value' here, on YouTube

I'm hoping Phil will come back with an album this strong.

I did like his stuff with genesis but not really the solo stuff though i can see why people would.

But a comeback Is it definitely "in the air tonight".

Beyonce would struggle to perform to her normal level with a bad back and no hands.
But she is a trouper and would probably just go for it.

What has Beyonce got to do with it?

Did Genesis ever play much Gabriel material in their later tours?

I have a grudge against Phil Collins going back over thirty years!

Being an ABBA super-fan (obviously!), I was really looking forward to the Agnetha and Frida solo albums, but particularly Frida as she was my musical idol. I was only 13 and was so excited when I bought Frida's tape lol, but it had been produced by Phil Collins and he ruined it!

It's not that Frida does anything wrong and on two songs in particular her voice is as good as ever - Strangers and To Turn The Stone. These are really good songs and I know they would've made wonderful ABBA tracks but like everything else on the album, they are smothered by that overbearing Phil Collins early eighties sound. It's like he wanted to turn everything into In The Air Tonight. Sorry to those who like him, but his drumming sounds like a child having a tantrum!

I realize that Frida was a big Phil Collins fan at the time, so she wanted the album to sound like this, but as a fan, I wish she'd never heard of him! If I'd wanted to buy a Phil Collins tape, I would have! When you look at the people who wrote songs on the album as well, like Georgio Moroder, Stephen Bishop and Bryan Ferry, I think Frida could've worked with any of them and the album have sounded better.

So it's a no from me regarding Phil I'm afraid

For me I am the opposite, love all the Genesis albums up to and including Wind and Wuthering. Losing Peter Gabriel they recovered well. I think a bit more of the magic went when Steve Hackett left.
I like guitar heroes and he is one of the best. Don't mind Phil Collins but find a lot of later Genesis and his solo stuff a bit shouty.

Everything if you are an idiot that goes by the name of Kayne West.

Getting back to topic, am well chuffed that Phil Collins is making a come back, his greatest hits album is one of my favourites and would rather listen to songs like Against All Odds, Another day in Paradise, Two Hearts, Something happened on the way to heaven, Sussudio, etc etc than Yawnonce,. Justine Beaver, or the talentless No direction.

No he wasn't a top bloke to the women in his life, but hey Chris Brown beat women and he still sold records. Music wise Phil Collins is a genius & I would listen to his new material & would do my upmost to see him do a live hits tour.

His 80's solo albums are fantastic, but he produced little of worth after But Seriously.

Would love to see him live, something I never managed, but it will be interesting to see if his voice is still OK.
