Yes, there's no reason to believe Helen has less of a fan base than the others, although since Abbey and Caroline won I'm not sure how relevant pre-existing fan bases really are. If someone was on the show from another programme I watched, it might make me look forward to seeing them but I wouldn't vote for them just because I liked the other programme. It may have more effect with a teen boy band fan base like Harry had, but I think its more about how you come across on Strictly itself.

Regarding fan bases, I think you also have to factor in how inclined a particular fan base is to vote. I get the feeling younger fans are more inclined to make multiple votes to ensure someone like Jay sails through. I think someone like Helen is likely to have a more mature fan base who are perhaps less likely to go crazy voting for her. A lot of people were hyping up Daniel's fan base and look what happened there.

Do people really have loyalty to a particular TV station?

You make some good points here. You're right, Jay is probably the one most likely to benefit from a pre-existing fan base. I admit I was astonished (though not sorry) that Daniel went out as early as he did.

That's true, I don't think she will "benefit" from the multiple voting. I do hope Helen stays. She is my favourite of the female celebrities - she has grace, intelligence and looks like she likes to have a good laugh.

BIB - I don't know. People might not vote for her because they don't like her. I acknowledge that she is a better dancer than I would have expected her to be, but I will never vote for her because I don't like her.

She just speaks with a Southern English accent and doesn't make grammatical errors. Not sure that's particularly posh.

I talk like that and I went to a state comprehensive. It isn't necessarily "posh" to talk like that, you just don't have a regional accent (or rather you do - but just the one that everyone views as "the posh one" - I do still come from a region, haha.)

okay, i didn't know that.

i'm from the Netherlands, a place called Eindhoven ( Football Club named PSV)

so that's why i don't know all the different accents

Yes, I'm from the Midlands and anyone who says AH-fter instead of AFF-ter is "posh" in my book Silly I know

Unfortunately, it's a common misconception in England as well. It's not "posh", it's as much "regional" as Manchester or Yorkshire. It's the same as mine.

But it is "BBC" English (not surprising, given BBC based in London), and is therefore the English of the newsreaders, hence often felt to be "posh". Shame really, it's a bit of inverse snobbery.

we shouldn't Judge people over their accent or with their personalities.

just look at the dancing

judging by the dancing, i really like Georgia, Anita and Jay and for his comedy Jeremy

That's ok - as you can see from the thread even people from the UK would misguidedly consider an accent like that automatically indicative of "poshness."

Maybe it's just my Midlands ear being more attuned to it but her accent definitely isn't "Southern England" if you listen to her vowels. She's quite RP but not 100%.

I know Helen is from the Brum area - but is Katie as well, then?

I will listen carefully tomorrow! I certainly don't think she has a "posh" accent though. Just a fairly standard one.
