It's the Essex fake tan effect. A lot of women, and men, subscribe to this look. Sure LD could lay off the fake tan but so could many fake tanners. If she is happy with the shade then that's all that matters really, not for us to judge.

I noticed her tan randomly went within one episode this week

Sharon has had a tan for a few weeks. But when Phil collapsed and ended up in hospital, her tan was gone and she was very pale when she had a go at Kathy in the street and then during the hospital scenes.

Awful. If they're going to allow her to wear hairpieces at least make them a bit less old fashioned, the buns dont suit her, they're messy and makes her look older.

Ha ha ha!!! Seriously though at least the drag queen make up has been toned down a bit but has unfortunately been replaced by badly applied orangey fake tan. She's always had troweled on make up at home during the day in Eastenders which looks awful. I don't know why there are so few scenes with her make up free or fake tan free. Other characters are fresh faced and look much better. I know there are some women who wear make up at home but really can't there be more scenes without her fake tan or thickly applied make up etc?

Good point. The only time I've done that is when I'm trying to "break in" a new pair of shoes before wearing them to go out.

Letitia looks stunning in real life as I have seen her in photos as herself but the character, Sharon is expected to wear horrendous outfits and the hairstyle is very "Sharon". I don't know why they keep giving her too much makeup in EE but I guess that's Sharon's style

If and when she leaves Phil TPTB might give her image an overhaul. She definitely needs a makeover. I wonder if Letitia Dean has any input into Sharon's look? Yes she looks so totally different in real life. You wouldn't think she's the same person

She has always had makeup on, when she has supposed to have just got out of bed. Other actresses don't care and will go make up free for the realism of it, but I can still remember back to her days with the Mitchell brothers and then before that, I always noticed it and never understood why she had to always have make up on.

She has a great pair of pins on her no doubt about that.

Wow! She looks great there. I'd like to see her away from Mr Potato Head and with a complete new image to look more like she does in real life. She's not the only one who needs a new look in Eastenders. Nancy is played by an absolutely stunning actress and I'd like to see her with a nice dress on with her hair down. Obviously people should be able to express themselves how they want and I get that but I think Nancy, a young woman, would have changed her image by now. Linda Carter too wears some shocking clothes.

I agree, her acting is horrendous and has been particularly bad recently. Her fake accent is so false and annoying. If she hadn't been there since the 1980s, had joined more recently and wasn't Den and Angie's daughter I think she would have been axed by now.

Sharon has always worn makeup but I think she needs to tone it down. She's nearly 50 now but if Sharon likes applying makeup, good for her. I remembered LD's interview in 2012 and she explained that the writers wanted to make sure that Sharon always have plenty of makeup and shoulder pads. Letitia said she wouldn't mind having short hair but the public wouldn't recognise Sharon as they hate people changing their decade style. I loved her short hairstyle in the 90s and there's no harm for Sharon to have shorter hair again.

Her accent is real so I don't think she can do anything about it.
