Really warming to the new Connors
I have to admit that I've been most impressed with Corrie's latest recruits. They appear like a normal dysfunctional family and the friendly rivalry between Aidan and Johnny is proving entertaining. They have a natural spark and energy about them all, and the acting has been pretty good all round. Shayne Ward has probably impressed me the most and has been real natural in his scenes- although what happened to this supposed rivalry with Woodentop Robert? He had a lot of critics to silence following the Sarah Harding disaster, and he's more than proven his worth IMO. I've also really taken to Kate and enjoyed her winding up Beth. Writers: please, please, please don't put her with Sawphie- it would be detrimental for the character.
Corrie is still far from its best right now, but the new Connors have a lot of promise. |

I agree. I think they all have potential to be good characters and they work well with Carla. The actors work incredibly well together.
I hope the new Connors will have a strong story soon, away from the factory drama, which is all they've really had so far. |

I like the way that they've been introduced. They actually feel like a family unit and have a rather natural chemistry with one another. They seem quite likeable on the whole too which is good as too many characters are introduced with a dark secret (although it looks like they may have a secret of some sort with Rob getting involved).

Do like the actress who plays Kate, has potential. Shame she portrays a 'Connor'.

I think they're all fantastic characters and actors, who have blended in really well. Definitely Blackburn's best creations during his stint.

I think they're all ok...what's the betting on Kate and Sophie getting it on???
Anyway I like them but I seriously think Corrie needs to move with the times and NOT show bosses talking to staff that way! It's practically bullying like getting told off for going to the toilet or being two minutes late!! Seriously - that can't really still go in in this day and age can it???

Aiden was fine on his own. I don't like the other two. They're like a knock-off pair of Mitchells (of EE fame).
Particularly the girl annoys me. From what we've seen, she's a lazy wind-up merchant yet we're seemingly supposed to like her because she's a feisty Northern lass...just like every other female character that joins the show these days. |

I like Johnny and Kate is my favourite of the new characters, not so fussed on Aiden.

I actually quite like all three, especially Kate, it's a travesty they are lumping her with Sophie.
Just a pity I don't like Carla

Hate them, except for Shane Ward.
Really annoying how the three of them are all joined at the hip too. |

I think the moment they took an instant dislike to each other over the cars parked outside the world's busiest garage you just knew they'd get it together.

I'm quite impressed at how they have just slipped in and settled down so quickly. A million times better than Yasmeen and her family. They all do my head in, every single one of them. They just can't act at all.

I thought that as soon as Kate arrived and we found out she was gay, that this will be Sophie's new girlfriend, even though she is constantly going on about her lover in the army, wonder if she will return or get killed and then she and Sophie will have a mutual tragedy as both of their girlfriend's were killed by blasts.
Oh it is so predictable isn't it

I don't dislike them, I just dislike how wholly unoriginal they are.
They're really highlighting how dated and unbelievable the factory is in 2015. They've been rehashing the same scripts for over 40 years. I can take or leave Aidan but I think Kate and Johnny have potential, but it's wasted having them in the factory. |

I like Aidan and Kate and thing they both have potential as characters. Johnny is alright for me at the moment but i'm sure i'll build up more of an opinion on him the more he appears.
Dont think they really needed the Connor name or family connection just because they have owned the factory for nearly a decade, Aidan could have just been an old friend or something. Its like the sudden influx of Baldwins just before Mike's exit was announced. |

Richard Hawley isdistracting me somewhat as he is reminding me of Karl Munroe - Iu wonder whether it is something to do with the both speaking in Manchester accents when I'm used to them sounding different.
I don't basically mind them though and think they have potential. I just dislike the way they sprang from nowhere and that there is going to be a Conner/Donovan family secret. |

I hope they dont go down the predictable route of sticking Kate with Sawfie and having Johnny bed Liz

How they write Rob's return is absolutely crucial towards how successful the new Connor family will be. If it's the much touted rumour that Johnny is in fact Carla's father, we will need to see them bonding believably in the wake of such a revelation. I'm not particularly keen on that as a storyline idea, but it seems quite likely.
Equally, what they decide to do with Kate will be make or break. Why does every gay character on the Street have to be defined by their sexuality? Why do all of their storylines revolve around romantic relationships? I sincerely hope that they keep Kate away from the vacuum of sorrow that is Sophie. |
